Did you work in a team?
I worked myself. It was a good idea to join this jam.

Was the resolution a challenge?
It was a challenge, especially the score counter. But I succeeded to obey the rules.

What did you learn?
I entered the jam to improve my gamedev skills. It was a good experience and I'm glad that I've done a thing that I had never done before - I added multiple songs to the game.

really cool concept! audio is nice too.

attack mode was so hard, the bullet is too fast, but overall this is fun game.

good job.

Developer

I know that the Attack mode is hard. Thanks for your comment!

Interesting idea. I think the gameplay could've been a little more engaging, good job nonetheless. Great job on the music and sound :)

Developer

Thanks!

Attack is a tricky boi. But for as simple as it is it's pretty good!

Developer

I know that Attack is hard. Thanks!

I like attack a lot

I hope you win authenticity lol

Developer

There are few people who like Attack. Almost everyone says that Defend is much easier and better than Attack. Thanks!

Submitted

I liked this game, especially the music! The Attack mode was really difficult, especially when you start to move, but it was enjoyable trying to defeat the enemies.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! You aren't the only one who says that the Attack mode is difficult...

Nice little game! As others have mentioned defending is much easier. The songs are all great, and dying is almost exciting because it means you get to hear a new one lol. Overall great job with this game!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for your positive feedback! I'm glad that you love the songs and I'm even surprised that you feel almost excited when dying!

Such a unique idea I love it! ^^ defending seems waaay easier than attacking, that it might just be me though ,':/ great game! :)

Developer(+1)

Everyone finds defending easier than attacking, it isn't only you. I'm glad that you like Line!

Like the idea :) and was a good use of the jam limitations! I would maybe put more colours but it's more a sugestion than a critique. Overall Good JOB :D

Developer

Thanks for your colourful suggestion!

I love the look of the game. Good job having legible text in such low resolution! I didn't put any thought into that in my submission, and it did not look good. I had fun trying to find little optimizations with my inputs in defence mode.

Thanks for your feedback!

I absolutely loved the concept.
The execution was also quite cool.
I see a lot of potential in all the ideas you included in the game.
Great work. I really enjoyed playing it. Is addictive!

I'm curious: what kind of issues are you getting with the HTML export?
I have been using Godot for my games too, so maybe I can help.

Developer(+1)

When I opened the Line.html file, it referred me to a blank site. When I opened the godot.offline.html file, it referred me to a site that looked like the image. But I wasn't offline!

Submitted

I believe you can't simply open the HTML file locally by double-clicking it to open in the browser. This is because web browsers prevent the execution of WASM files in certain scenarios .

To test  it, once you add the HTML5 export configuration in your project, a new button should appear next to the Run Project, Run Scene, etc. Use that button.

Once you test it and export it, remember to rename your HTML file to index.html befote zipping it. This is a requirement for Itch.io to recognize the HTML it needs to run.

Developer

I don't know how to export the game for HTML, but I've succeeded with creating a link to Netlify! :-)

And now I've succeeded to export the game for HTML! :-)

FYI, this isn't the first 1 D game. Sorry about that.

Developer

I know that it isn't the first 1D game. I hope that you liked it anyways!

Not sure if my Mac is playing up on me, but I can't get the game to open. I have downloaded twice.

Error:

“Line- The First 1D Game” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin.

I can see you used Godot, did you try the HTML export? Too late now obviously.

Developer (1 edit)

I've already heard that the Mac version doesn't work, and I've just removed it from the site.

Yes, I have tried the HTML export. But I failed. I'm sorry for that. :-(

You can try this Godot web player to test your game in the web with just your .PCK file and if it works, you can host the game on that website too :)

Congrats on getting your entry submitted anyway!

Developer

I've tried it and when I just uploaded the .pck file, it worked. But when I tried to release it, it didn't work. :-( Probably due to the compression.

Nice job, surprisingly fun game for having half the dimensions as normal! Good job including a full credits scene, that was the #1 thing I wanted to include in my game but didn't find time to to fit it in my UI. I liked Defend mode. One idea I had is you could add an orange enemy that fakes you out by coming down the line fast but then jumping back before it reaches you, making the player waste their shot if they're not careful.

Developer(+1)

The orange enemy is a really interesting idea! Thanks for your feedback!

Interesting gameplay concept. Definitely had more fun on "defend" mode, as i couldn't quite figure out a "rythm" to attack. Music where all bangers.

Developer

Thanks for your reply! I'm glad to hear good things about the music!
