Did you work in a team?
Solo. All design, art, code and sfx by myself. Music provided by Of Far Different Nature.
Was the resolution a challenge?
Definitely! But a fun challenge. This was my first low rez jam.
The main hurdles would be the placement of the camera and ensuring that it provides adequate visual information to the player, as well as minimising GUI/HUD usage to streamline key information.
What did you learn?
My first game using sprite-stacked art. Lots of new problems to solve re: rendering and optimsation. I think that I learned that in the future I should use software to create sprite stack layers instead of creating them manually. Overall I feel the art style that I experimented with is pretty cool and I'd like to do more with it!

Great gameplay, graphics and audio! This was a lot of fun and well polished! Well done!
If you want, please check out my submission.
Liked the sprite stacked art. Fun to play once i got the drifting down
Top notch entry in every way. As soon as the game started and I realized there was an announcer, it put me right in the mindset of playing any great racing game from the past.
Technically it's very impressive, with bright graphics, 3D effects, and smooth animations that make the screen feel ten times bigger than it is.
Hopefully you continue working on this because it's definitely a great project. Racing against decent AI would be a huge leap, but maybe the next step?
Hey this is really well put together. My only two nitpicks are that the music feels way too loud comparatively (maybe you can't turn it down idk), and that last corner on the west race feels impossible with the starter beater. Other than that there is an impressive amount of work in this. Absolutely great graphics.
Nice graphics! "Super Off Road" vibes.
An impressive amount of detail. Nice work!
You can race as a HOTDOG in the end!
Wow this was super polished for a jam entry. Very clean and professional look. Game itself was quite difficult so I gave up in the middle but it was fun :)
Brilliant! Very readable and polished graphics
Very cool game and incredibly polished for a jam game! May I ask what engine you used to make it and why you chose to use sprite stacked art rather than 3d models?
I used GameMaker Studio 2. I'm not very experienced with 3D dev at all, so it was not really an option for me. I've been wanting to test out the sprite stacking method for a while now and this jam was a great opportunity to do that :)
I love the game ! Love the visuals, the audio and the UI design! There’s only one thing I’d like to point out, that when going in reverse the controls are flipped (on keyboard at least), which is not what I’ve seen in other racing games, so it took some time to getting used to. Otherwise it’s a really fantastic game !
This was an awesome little racing game! I loved the controls with the ability to drift throughout the tracks. Audio was amazing, loved the visuals. Overall awesome entry!!
I loved the art! Absolutely awesome!
I was very bad at this but it was fun :) Nice and polished looking game!
Love the soundtrack! Noticed it lagged a bit, but performed much better (and looked weirder) in high quality graphics mode. Also noticed the coins in the garage would respawn every time (including garage visits) which might be easy to exploit FYI. Also the menus don't seem to handle analogue sticks well.
tough to control, but I love the visuals!
really cool racing game! :D
I’m not very good with racing games, and the car I chose off the bat felt a little sluggish… that said, I think this is a really excellent game! Definitely something to come back to and play several times! Excellent work!!
Really nice driving feel once you get up to speed, though I wish it was a little more responsive down low. Love the look.
Love the sprite-stack look!
