Ranked from 26 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

Did you work in a team?
Yes, this game is the collective effort of an online community of pixel artists called Lospec. There were around 20 contributors in total, with a handful of lead organizers, artists, and programmers.

Was the resolution a challenge?
The Lospec community is composed primarily of pixel artists, so working within the confines of the resolution was not too big of a challenge. The largest hurdle the resolution posed was what type of game we could feasibly make, especially within the two week time limit.

What did you learn?
While the size of our team was a huge asset, it was also a greater challenge than we expected. Our respective leads were essential in coordinating our members and unifying our vision, and the game would have been very disjointed without clear guidance.

Teamwork makes the (artistic) dream work here! Artwork is top notch, with special honors to the excellent UI and font choices. Actually, if you told me a single person did the art I'd believe it, since there is a very cohesive vision for the graphics choices.

I wish the game play was a little more engaging, but honestly just walking around this world for a long time was worth it, running into enemies just to see what they looked like!

Here's some feedback on your entry: Firstly - the 'cosmetic elements' (art, title, music etc.) are really cutesy and nice - and the palette is a nice mixture of retro/modern. The title screen and the trees were especially interesting. Also the enemies were nicely designed. In terms of gameplay, the limitations are obvious but I thought you guys adapted to them well.

The controls were fairly intuitive although the inventory system was somewhat confusing when interacting with chests/selling - maybe different colours/a border could have been helpful? Anyway - the most important aspect, the battle system was very simple but also really fun - you didn't overcomplicate and I really appreciated that. Also, the trade-off between different attacks and how they interact was really interesting and great given how little time you had. If there was anything I might add: a small minimap (included in the inventory), more of a tutorial/introduction to the gameplay and maybe some different buildings/dialogue if you wanted to expand it further. To me it felt like a blend of Animal Crossing/Pokemon with a unique gameplay style. Well done and bear in mind that all of this is taking into account that you had a really short amount of time and a large team to co-ordinate.

I got stuck behind a tree but i still had a lot of fun playing this game. If you read this and dont know if you want to try it, do it. Its a great game.

All the art looks amazing. I didn't find the controls the most intuative. There were multiple times where I couldn't figure out what I should be pressing. Looks like as a big team you've made something really awesome though.

Developer

What specifically did you find unintuitive? The controls should get some small improvements in a post-jam update.

out of curiosity, i assume the large black box after i hit an enemy was either a bug? or not supposed to be there? curious as to what was happening. other than a handful of bugs, pretty nice game

Developer(+1)

Yep, that was a bug.

Art and music were great! It's amazing that a group so large was able to put together such a well done and well organized product. Especially due to the time and communication constraints. Really fun game! Well done Lospec!

Such a high quality entry all around and it must have been an interesting undertaking considering how many people you had to organize in such a short time. Well done!

Very good execution of rock/scissors/paper mechanic in an RPG.

This is just wonderful! I love the art, the gameplay, everything. Excellent job! Everyone that contributed should be proud.

This is beautiful. Amazing job on the art, music and overall polish.

I’m not personally a huge fan of turn-based combat like this… so I won’t hold that against you. It was well done for what it is!

Submitted(+5)

Absolutely beautiful. I would have loved to see more of a background story, and some more hints about this apparent post-apocalyptic setting.

Wow, what a trip!

My first game jam i joined in on, and it was such a fun and chaotic ride all the way through! Nice work fellas!

May we join forces again in the future, haha!

Really cool game!

Developer(+6)

very nice to see this project live, i enjoyed working on it

20 people working remote and delivering on time, especially in such a short time frame, is something your team should be very proud of. Nice work!

Developer(+3)

GG, everyone! it's great to see this project going live.

(+2)

Lol, sorry, but why is the game made by so many people?😂

Developer(+6)

We originally planned for over 64, but we couldn't get that many to contribute, sadly.

Lol, joking asides, most people made the different enemies/players you see in the game.

It was a community made project, so everyone that wanted to join in, could.

Developer(+4)

Because it's fun 😆 This was a collaborative effort from members of the Lospec Discord server.

Ok, I cannot for the life of my figure out which control gets me out of my bag after opening. I tried E, Space Bar, Left Click, WASD,...

Developer(+3)

It should be the escape key

Submitted(+5)

Thanks. I knew it had to be something obvious. And great graphics. I really enjoyed encountering all the enemies to see the design for the characters and their backgrounds. Nice to have such variety.

Developer (1 edit) (+3)

Glad you liked it! There were some things we didn't get to implement (and bugs we didn't get to fix) due to time constraints, so it may get updates post-jam 👀
