Was the resolution a challenge?
The resolution was definitely a challenge. Although it allowed for me to make some really low poly objects. I also decided to build in WebGL 2.0, which meant that the Post Processing didn't work. It's not a huge deal, but it did look a lot better with it.

What did you learn?
This was the first Game Jam I had participated in. I think this experience will stay with me for the rest of my life.

It was tough to see things that were far off, and the UI was tough to interpret, but I liked the little touches, like the rain and the character portrait.

Developer

Thank you! I was thinking on some fixes for the tough to see far away objects. I was thinking of making new stages that are just more hallway-like. I'm working on redoing the UI. Thank you for the feedback!

The gameplay difficult, the graphics really well done, the atmophere was perfect. You did a great job for your first jam. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you very much! I plan on doing many in the future as well!! :D

Love the ambiance of the game, and the character portrait!

Developer

Thank you! I was worried that people wouldn't realize it was a character portrait, I'm glad that that got across!

Nice idea! Props on try a 3d game too!  It felt like the camera fov was really long which meant movement felt a bit weird maybe? But rgeat art and I love the story of the hotdog rat :D !

Developer

Thank you! The FOV and movement has been fixed in another version, that I will be releasing after voting. I'm glad you liked the Hotdog Rat!

the artstyle is really very nice, and fits perfectly with the restrictions of the jam.

the mouse movement can sometimes be confusing, but overall a nice entry.

Developer

Thank you! I agree, I'm going to be tweaking the camera and movement on my first update after the voting. I'm glad you like my art style too!

Really impressed you did a 3D game! Some stuff if the environment got a little muddy with the color choices, but this is a solid entry! Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I have to admit the colors I picked could've been better, especially for the enemies. There will be another version released after the voting period. :D

I'll be sure to keep an eye out!

Went to the end! I think the enemies could have a color scheme that contrasts more with the background. And the transparent objects left me a little confused. The platforming was interesting in a game of this type. And the Hotdog Rat is cool. I'm impressed that this is your first attempt at a jam, congratulations!

Developer

Thank you! I had a lot of fun making it! I'm glad I'm getting so many people with really helpful constructive criticisms. It's really helpful so thank you! :D

Very cool game!!

I liked a lot the enviroment of the game. I also liked the dialog with the rat, the visual of it is nice and the words are shown without breaking when appearing character by character. Also, I liked the delayed "Good Luck" in the end.

The models are nice, and the rat is cute. I also liked the UI when in the battle stage, after talking with the rat.

The gameplay idea is nice. Liked the idea of using 3 different weapons and being able to wall jump.

The Music is cool, it fits very well with the game.

I felt that the player moves too fast, and also the camera when moving with the mouse. Since it's a 64x64 resolution game and we can't see much things, a suggestion would be to be slower.

I had some difficulty to understand what the rat said and what was writen as the quest in the fight stage. For the rat dialog, perhaps the font wasn't in the correct size, making it difficult to see.
About the quest phrases, perhaps it being less transparent or appearing/hiding when pressing a button would help.

Also, I have some difficulty viewing the enemies. I think they can be highlighted using a different color in relation to the background.

But It's a very cool game!! The game has a lot of assets and mechanics, and I would like to see more stages and enemies!

Congratulations for the game!!

Wish you all the best with the project!

I couldn't progress much either  :\ I can't jump to the third platform. If enemies were another color they would be much easier to see and I found the camera angle a bit narrow. I should congratulate you on the art aswell because it is delightful!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Although it ends after the third platform, so don't feel too bad. You didn't miss anything. I think increasing the camera FOV would've made the game a lot better. I'll be working on the game further. Feedback means a lot!

Neat game. I was impressed by both the 2D and 3D work. I wish there was more, but that's the nature of jams sometimes.

Developer

Thank you! It's my first jam, so I don't have the best time spacing skills. I'm glad you were impressed though!

I found the gameplay a little difficult to figure out and couldn't progress very far :(

Very good graphics and a cool aesthetic, but I think it was giving me a bit of motion sickness after a while lol

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I was worried about the motion sickness, sorry about that :(. I think if i went a lot slower and decreased the sensitivity, that would've made it a lot better in that front. Thanks again!

I remember seeing your hotdog rat sprite in the discord channel. I loved it. The game is good. It wasn't super clear how to progress after defeating the enemies, but I figured out a way forward and completed the game. Some more sound effects would be nice, but the music was great. Thanks!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I was a little jammed for time, but that's what game jams are all about, lol.
