Did you work in a team?
We were a team of 2, operating remotely. One of us was responsible for most of the gameplay code and the other was responsible for art, music, and animations. We split the level design load. We had a blast!

Was the resolution a challenge?
We didn't have many issues with the 64x64 resolution limit. Limitations breed creativity!

What did you learn?
This was our first time finishing a game in PICO-8! We enjoyed using the system and working within its token limit restraints.

The gameplay was amazing and the graphics worked well with the gameplay. The audio was nice and I really liked the funny death animation, reminds me of a game called "Jump King" when you fall and facepalm. The level design was fantastic. This game has a lot of potential. Good job and keep working on it!

Cool graphics, music.

It was a bit difficult for me at first. I got used to it after a few minutes of play.

The level design was great.
Like it!

Super Fun. I am so bad at letting go of wall before jumping LOL. Good combination of puzzler and kill. Good job!

Super cool game! It was definitely challenging, but in the right way. The gameplay was solid, and I really liked the animations, styling, and music. The variety of gameplay mechanics and how they were  used together made it unique. Good job!

I had a blast playing this game ! It’s insanely satisfying to nail jumps once you get the timing of releasing the hold and hitting the jump button. Also love the visuals and the audio. A really great game overall :)

Great game. A little tricky to get the hang of the hold, release, jump mechanic, but it starts to feel natural after a bit. The splat when you fall just feels so... right. In fact the whole game just feels well put together. Great work both of you, well done!

Wow! It was very hard to play but as I played it got more and more fun. Favorite part of the game was bobbing up and down with the amazing music!

Good small game – but controls are pretty hard on keyboard. The birds were a nice touch

The death feedback animation and sound effect gel so well together, but yeah the controls are a bit hard to predict, as in I'm not sure what's the window of letting go of the hold button and jumping, otherwise it's really an amazing game. The music is really nice too.

cool game... I found it difficult to release grab and press jump immediately after, did you try allowing jump without releasing grab for us casuals?  :)  Also, the rope just decoration, right?

Good job on your first Pico8 game!

Developer

The rope is just for decoration. We're currently considering expanded options for adjusting things like the ability to jump off rocks and the jump window. But these plans are still tentative. Thanks for playing!

I'm not proud to say this, but I rage-quit this game on the second level. I just could not get the timing right for letting go and jumping. Tried with both keyboard and controller. Git gud I guess?

This bothered me so I gave it another try - and you know what? I did get good! Well, not that good, but I learned the timing for the jumps. :D Turns out I still suck at this game!

Developer

Hey, thanks for your feedback! We tried to make the game challenging but fair, hopefully you found that to be the case. I’m glad to hear you came back to give it another go :)

I spend wayyy more time on this game than I should've lol

It was definitely interesting to see a rock climbing platformer implemented like this!

This game plays best with a controller, so if you have one, plug it up! (To clarify, I mean D-Pad. Joystick is harder.)
