Did you work in a team?
Just myself, I did all the coding, graphics, etc (any 3rd party assets are listed in description).
This was a blast. I really enjoyed the challenge of developing for a 64x64 resolution.

Was the resolution a challenge?
Yes, being a 3d game, the low resolution made it important to keep critical information at a scale that could be seen. I tried to keep the visual theme as relatable, so the player didn't have to interpret as much, to figure out what they were looking at.

What did you learn?
This is my first Jam, and my first real game to ever be shown in public. So really, everything was new. Getting something in from of others, and outside of a hobby-only realm was a really great motivation. As I'd love to make games professionally, the whole life-cycle of game development, crunched down to two weeks was so valuable. And the great community on Discord was so nice and supportive. Thank you all!

Very neat idea, and the level design/music choice made me feel like I was playing Goldeneye again. Some hidden things were visible with both colors, but for the most part I had a lot of fun searching for secrets.

Super nice concept and execution I love it so much, also it's short enough to get fun and doesn't get bored. the 3D render also works perfectly, all is readable and looks well. ¡

Thsi is a really interesting idea! And I love the fact the the light changes on your skin relative to what you're seeing, thats an incredible detail which hasn't gone unnoticed! :D Great job! Please check ours out too: https://itch.io/jam/lowrezjam-2020/rate/732044

Really clever concept. I liked the little details, like the reflection in the glasses. It reminded me of Metroid Prime. All in all, it felt like it was executed very well.

Thank you. Yeah, I've always liked how you could see Samus' face in explosions in Metroid Prime, and wanted to try adding it to a game. I realized red/blue glasses where a great excuse. I decided to actually go beyond what Metriod Prime did, and have the light in the scene be accurately reflected on the face at all times. Luckily, with 64x64 I didn't have performance issues with this even in browser. I also wanted to extend the game to make use of this mechanic, where it was useful to see light on your face from a grazing angle, and to use an animated model for the face, that would have the eyes track points of interest. But yeah... 2 weeks is tight for all that. I'm happy with how it turned out despite all that :D

Thank you! The idea came just before bed about a week before the Jam. Wasn't sure if about entering, but the concept was odd enough it seemed like a fun game to try and make. But thanks for checking it out, glad you enjoyed things :D

Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it. The game's concept was a little strange, so I'm glad it turned out playable.

i got stuck on the last code but the game design is just perfect. loved it!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it. The codes are randomly generated each time, so you can always give it another go to see if you get an easier to locate combination. There are 3 digits needed to get through the 1st door, 4 digits on the 2nd door, and 5 digits for the Vault. In the warehouse, don't be afraid to jump onto the boxes, you can jump fairly high.
