Interesting idea with classic game, control a lit bit hard to turn. Good job!

Interesting take on a classic game, loved to control the earthquake, the turning felt a bit off tho, but still pretty solid, the screeshake while demolishing a house or building was really cool

Nice idea, well executed! Great sfx, bro!

This was interesting idea. Reminded me of a similar mechanic in "Donut County", where a hole tried to swallow the entire town. Maybe a next iteration could include a AOE attack from the head as the epicenter, to topple down buildings as some kind of supermove.

Developer(+1)

That's a neat idea.  I was also thinking that having fuel tanks/gas stations that explode would be cool.   Donut County wasn't really an inspiration for this, but I did think of it when I started seeing the buildings fall into the hole lol.

Submitted

Building exploding due to fuel then becomes a combo multiplayer and will add a lot of visual candy to the game.

Very interesting take on the snake game, definitely had fun playing it :D

The only think I would change is maybe tone down a bit the screen shaking, the fact that it was occurring right as I was trying to make a turn would sometimes make me crash into water.

Also liked the small touches to the UI with the small houses.

Good job!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it.  I agree that the screen shake can be distracting, and will definitely try to balance it better if I do another iteration.

This was awesome!!! The way that the music starts is SO GOOD and then the music and sound fox just stay really top notch! The controls felt good and this was a really creative interpretation of a classic game! Super fun and well put together! Great job!

Wow best 'snake' type of game I've played! I loved the music and how different sound effects were tied to the different buildings! Very fun game, great job!

One bit of feedback, It was sometimes a little difficult to tell where the 'head' of the disaster was so occasionally I would fail to turn in time because I thought I was one square behind where I actually was.

All in all very fun game! I really enjoyed playing

Developer

Yeah, I was never fully satisfied with the player movement.  Eventually I just called it good-enough due to time.  I'll definitely re-work it if I ever revisit this.  I wish there was a way to directionally animate a tile going on to a tilemap.

Nice game. Some way to delimit the field would be good since you lose if you go beyond the field

Really nice iteration! I liked the sync of sounds, it reminded me of Castle Rock in Rayman!

Nice take on snake and great use of music!

Submitted(+1)

This version of the snake is great. I enjoyed destroying the buildings

Nice twist of the classic Snake, I really liked the pixel art and the destruction. Makes me wonder if there's more to just destroy buildings until you die. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks.  I hadn't planned on continuing this after the jam, but I keep coming up with ideas that might make it interesting. I may re-do it.  If for no other reason than to have bigger buildings to collapse lol.

Submitted(+1)

The game has a lot of potential and feels good to play. I only wished that the quake moved at the same tempo as the music so I could play the cymbals along with it while destruying buildings.

I really can't overstate how I love the way you started music!

Great way to add to the classic snake, though a little bit hard to control at times due to speed and screen shaking.

Developer

Yeah, the speed is one of those issues you get when developing in a vacuum.  You play your own game so many times it's hard to judge a good speed.  I would have added difficulty levels if I had time.  I actually like that the shake is a bit disorienting, but I hope it wasn't aggravating.  I halved the amount of screenshake I started with in early development.

Submitted(+1)

Well, it wasn't too bad by itself, just combined with speed it made it a bit difficult to control. Still, it's a great game!

This was so freaking fun!!! As soon as I turned around and ate the first house, and the cymbal hit and the music started I was hooked. My highest was 119, it gets a little tricky to turn when you've eaten all the ground haha. If you ever revisit this, it would be so cool if the big skyscraper had a huge bass drum (timpani?) sound when you destroyed it. Anyway this was great!

Developer

Glad you liked it!  I had originally planned on more buildings but ran out of time.  I might revisit this for fun and add more stuff after the jam.  I was thinking it would be cooler on an isometric tileset.  I also think that instead of making the tail grow so fast, my next version would make bits of the city rebuild after awhile.

Submitted

I enjoy it!

You realy reinvented the concept of the classics snake-like. The machanics are fluid and works very well in browser.

Congrats!

This is a clever idea! It's a fun re-imagining of a classic game mechanic, and an interesting take on the theme.

Submitted(+1)

This was really entertaining! Destroying the big buildings was very satisfying.

I really like this take on the classic snake game. I felt like the snake was a little too fast, but that was the only thing that really stood out in a bad way. The game also just looks good and seems polished.

Developer

Hey, yeah I was afraid it was a bit fast.  I actually slowed it down from what I built.  I was tempted to have ramped speed, or a difficulty setting... but I ran out of time of course.
