Nice tower defence game, found it pretty cool and balanced ^^

Greta job bro! It was a great time. I liked the retro look.

Nice work, enjoyed this game a lot. I think I used the mint plant the most, that was really effective! Overall a good retro vibe!

Developer

Yeah, the mint plant is overpowered. I didn't get a chance to really balance out damage output and health of my enemies and defenses. Thanks for playing!

A nice game, I enjoyed playing! Kudos on making all your own assets for your first jam! If I had any suggestions for improvements, I'd say it was a little hard to understand the effects of some of the plants – it seemed like some hurt some enemies more than others, but I wasn't quite sure of the rules. I also ran out of seeds once or twice. I know some TD games let you 'sell' old things you put down to get back some amount of currency.

Good job!

Developer

Thank you! I didn't spend the time really making those tweaks so that it was clearer to the player. Enemies do have varying health, and defenses do specific amounts of damage, but its not refined enough to be clear.  If i were to continue working on this after the jam, i would make pretty noticable changes in that regards.

Awesome game! It was fun playing it, and the music and sfx were great too.

The amount of detail in this game is fantastic! I liked it all, maybe it's a little too easy but it could be expanded a lot! I also made a sort of tower defense for this jam.

Did you use a Path2D and Path2DFollow for the enemies?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks! It definitely can be improved and I've jotted down some ideas already on how to improve it after the jam ends if I'm still in the mindset of working on it. And yeah, I used Path2D and Follows for enemies. My last project used paths all over the place so I felt pretty comfortable using them with my enemies.

I had fun playing it! Enjoyed the retro vibes I got from it, both aesthetic and sounds!
Pretty easy to understand what is happening and how to defend, gets harder pretty fast!
Enjoyed seeing your process on Twitter as well!

Developer

Thanks. Overall my goal was just to complete the game with it being bug-free. I managed to do that, but at the sake of better level design and balancing. With the small of amount of time I set aside for balancing and polish, I'm pretty satisfied with how it all turned out.

A nice tower defense, I find it too easy maybe, although the paths the bugs will follow are difficult to predict and difficults the management. Loved the music like a lot. Good job!

Developer

Thanks. It didn't get a lot of love in terms of design. There were plans to focus on balancing out damage output of the plants, life of each enemy and the amount of damage each plant do to it. I wanted to make it so damage wasn't so uniform across enemies and make it so that certain plants did full damage to a specific enemy and the other enemies would receive a specific percentage of the damage from the same plant.

If I were to come back to this project, it would like make those changes, add in new enemies and plants, and try to see if i can make the levels more procedurally generated. I think I still have a lot to learn before I come back and do that.

That's a good game! I really dig the art and music!

Developer

Thanks a lot! I'm horrendous at art and nooby with creating music, so its cool to hear that my work isn't complete trash lol.

Submitted(+1)

What a fun tower defense! I like the music too much XD.

Contrats!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'm glad you like the music. Still new to making music so it's nice to hear that.

Nice level design!

Developer

Thanks, I think it turned out well despite not getting the love it needed.  Thanks for playing!

I am such a sucker for a tower defense game! And this really hit the spot for me. The fact that you managed to pull that off was so great! The sounds you used for the music felt very nostalgic and really tied in well with the artwork. I like that each level had several waves when I originally thought we wave was a different level. That was cool and I like the concept of needing to protect the tree! Congrats on such a great game! I had a lot of fun playing it!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing. My primary focus was to complete the game using my own assets except for fonts. I'm beyond terrible when it comes to art and still quite nooby at making music. While the game didn't get the "design" love that I wanted it to, I'm still surprised at how decent it played.

Really cute theming for a tower defense game! I like growing a garden while I fight off bugs :)

Very cool art style and music. Reminds me of old Zelda games. Would have been nice to have some hit effect when the bugs or the tree got damages.

Fun game! Made me feel nostalgic.

Loved the music!

Nicely implemented tower defense mechanics, and nostalgic retro music.

Developer

Thanks. I'm really trying to improve my almost non-existent art and music composition skills along with Godot.

This was pretty fun.

Developer

Thanks, man.

Freaking bugs! Bugs everywhere!

Good job! How many levels have you made? I stopped playing after4 I think, but it was pretty cool!

Developer(+2)

The ants are legitimately terrifying each level. I made 5 in total. The 5th level is a repeat of the 1st level except enemy speeds are increased 1.5x. I intended for it to be more frantic, but I think I should have made it 2x faster to achieve that.

Thanks for playing!

Nice game bro, I really like this "protect fortress" games

Developer

Thanks, man. I appreciate ya playing!
