I've seen a few games this jam that have the mechanic where you can't decide which actions you get to do, but this is certainly the most unique implementation of that core idea. Combining that with the Crypt of the Necrodancer style acting on the beat was really smart and was a lot of fun to play. The level design was really great for only 48 hours as well. Good job!

This game is really well made super polished, love the character and the mechanics. The idea is great, love that you don't have control of your jump, dash and abilities so you have to time and judge your movements really well. Really good fun!

The game looks really nice, and has a great idea behind it! Unfortunately my PC can't run the game very well so there's not much else I can say.

That's some nice new way to control a character.

Good Job!

Amazing, i really enjoyed it!!

Great polish and cool idea! It might be interesting to explore the concept of letting the player have some control over the beat placement? It's certainly what came to mind when I read 'Drum Machine' and 'platformer.'

Either way, a solid entrant  congrats on getting it (mostly) done! :p

This concept is really, really fun! Like what other people in the comments have said already, I would have appreciated at least some sound in this game. The silence is awkward, and it makes it so I have to look down at the bottom of the screen instead of paying attention to my platforming. I think it would be cool if there was a basic drum beat for every level, and each item you picked up added another drum element (like the jump being a hi-hat, for example). That way I could keep track of the level and listen to the beat to tell me what was going to happen next. Not really sure how you'd play the game if you were deaf, though. I also didn't really get the theme of the character all that much. I don't know why I'm playing as a dwarf man in a game about music, haha. Overall, five star concept, I hope Mark takes a look at this one!

Thanks! I had a different character nearly ready to go, but that was on the to do list after the audio! I do intend to extend this into a full game, so it'll get the full audio treatment soon enough! Thanks again, I hope so too!

I know you've gone with "Silent Disco" but even a simple beat would've personally made a huge difference.

Regardless, the idea is fantastic and well executed and it looks gorgeous. Great work!

Thanks! I've already started putting wheels in motion to collab with a musician to do a more complete version of this. Once I have everything super tight then the plan is to expand it into a full game. Thanks again for the feedback!

This idea is soooooo clever! I just have problem with this game not having a single sound. Still good job!

Submitted(+1)

Though without sound, I still found the game to be quite satisfying by its look and the idea. Great job!

Nice game, I like this rythm mechanic, the friendly fire from the fire was a bit frustrating I think but's that's a very minor issue, the game is great !

Developer

Thanks! I need to convey that the crystals are dangerous more clearly in the next iteration.

This is a really good game!
Hope to play it with sound do

Really liked this one.  Super clever design and really solid implementation. The art was sooooo clean.

Submitted(+1)

This was really good! although there was no sound it was still very fun to play!

Submitted(+1)

Very good 3D platforming!

Loved it, the level design was awesome, very challenging, it's funny to see a similar idea for a game but a totally different execution!

I was surprised it was actually a silent disco! I liked the idea (naturally, since I had a similiar one), and it can be fun, but oh man it’s hard.:) Also dying from my own fireball felt unnecessary.

Hope to see a new version with music later.

Developer

The name of the game may have covered up the fact that I ran out of time to add sound to the game!

The blue crystals exploding is what kills you there, I think the range of the explosion is perhaps a bit too big, I'll tweak that in the next build. Thanks for the feedback!

I see that it wasn't intentional, but the lack of music definitely could be a cool idea for you to play with! Maybe there's music with no percussion and the powerups fill in the beat as you get them? Kind of love the idea of having to supply the disco in my own head.

Really nice game, but I definitely feel the lack of music

I like the way that you used not getting audio done on time to your advantage to make the player need to keep time themselves. Difficult, for sure, but adds to the chaos! I sucked at the game, but I get what you were going for despite not playing very far into it, and I respect it. Nice work!

Also, have some horrendously bad fan art (I can't draw people, can you tell?):
