Great shmup!

There's something very visually nice about seeing large power up text. Usually when I play a shmup, I have no idea what powerup I'm getting next.

I love the the particle sistem! Great game!

Some nitpick:  i got confused by the enemy fire and the stars(maybe you could add a trail)

Developer(+1)

thanks!

yeah i agree. i had a fade for things, but this counts as more than 4 colours, so i had to make things solid each time, so it has been tricky. i am continuing to dev it, so i will make some better bullets etc.

It's a really nice shmup, lots of potential here besides the slight graphical problems other people have mentioned.

It really nails the theme of the jam. And it's fun to boot!

My only complaint would be on the graphis and UI. It's hard to parse at a glance. The shield's as a small text in the bottom right, is not very helpful. Especially if it's not displayed at all half of the time. Also, what is the Thrust there for? And, the background stars are the same color as enemy bullets which makes them hard to distinguish. Keep in mind these are nitpicks though. The core is great!

Developer(+1)

Don’t worry, I agree with you :)

Thrust makes the ship more manoeuvrable.

Agreed about the shield thing, too.

Enemy bullets have been so hard to do as there are only four colours.

I’m still developing it more, so I’ll look at some better ways to do the bullets and shield thing.

Great to hear that you want to take it further! For an example on differentiating the bullets and background start, check out my submission!

Wow, the visuals on this one are amazing! Very good work. Very fun to play!

Submitted(+1)

I was terrible at this, but it was certainly fun.

0.42 parsecs and $85,000 was my best attempt.

Ghost ships is an awesome powerup and I loved all the particles effects and screen shake, cool game :D

Submitted(+2)

A bit hard to tell what's happening at times but fun nonetheless!

Developer(+1)

yeah i agree. i’m working on making some of the bullets etc stand out more.

Fun arcade shooter here. I can totally imagine playing this on my Gameboy Classic. Nice graphics and sound fx. Good job :)

Developer(+1)

thanks, man!

Submitted(+2)

I enjoyed this one! Very solid gameplay and visuals, the sound design was nice too! Pretty authentic feeling for a GB game!

One suggestion for the future would be to make enemy projectiles bigger and maybe flash through the palette as sometime I couldn't differentiate between those and the stars. I loved the labelled powerups, that's rarely done in games like these and you're usually just left guessing, great job with that!

Developer

yep, i agree. i am going to continue to dev it, as i have really enjoyed making it so far. i will make the enemy bullets stand out more.

feels like galaxian++ :•D nice succinct take on the genre, with interesting mechanics thrown in

Submitted(+2)

So fun! moving character feels good.

Submitted(+2)

interesting game, my best was 4000$ haha.

I liked the art, mechanics and sound, I think it’s combined very well.

Developer

$4,000 wouldn’t b enough to buy a Cromulon speed deck! :-)

Submitted(+1)

Hm, I’ll play again then

Submitted(+2)

cool

Developer

i have updated the game now with several new weapons, sound effects and screen shake effects.

Submitted(+2)

I love it. Shame I'm so bad at this kind of games! xD But the music is great, and I love the bit of strategy that having several weapons available gives. I went right away for the one that shoots and arc, but... no way, you need to change based on the situation, sticking to one is not enough ^_^; I need more practice!

Developer(+1)

thanks for the nice words. i have updated the game since, added several new weapons (couldn’t help myself!)

Submitted(+2)

me when i see this game: well i will try wining next time then. :) looks amazing
