Super fun game, I usually get hooked on defence games like this. The end of wave 8 was absolutely brutal. Wish I could play more but I got wiped.

Fun mechanics and upgrades, wish could do a bit more with the mouse cursor except holding if over the centre and catching power ups.

Developer

thank you so much for the feedback. It seems lots of people die on wave 8 so in an upcoming build I will tweak that wave so the enemies are a bit more spaced out.

Thanks for mentioning the desire to do more with the cursor. I will try to think of something more for the player to do in downtime . I didn’t want to make a click-for-cells system because then the game economy is really hard to balance and anything can be overcome with rapid fire auto clicker.

Do you have any ideas for what you’d like to do with your mouse in that downtime?

Submitted

Even if I could do tiny damage to enemies by clicking or hovering over them would be nice. The trade-off would be between getting more points to spend or defending from attacks. Maybe some enemies you can only kill with the mouse or you can "drag" them away a bit, like a pulse?

Developer(+1)

Ah I see ok I'll try to think of some more stuff to do with the mouse!  Thanks for the great suggestions!

This game hooked me from the beginning to the end! Fun, Simple, Theme-fitting. I have a question, though. Why isn't the Cursor Warmth already enabled by default? Wouldn't it be more intuitive? I lost the couple first tries because I wasn't able to gather stem cells in time to buy the Cursor Warmth. The little black square got me first, hahaha!
I hope more people check and play your game! It is really that good.

Developer

I will revisit cursor warmth. I made it so for the opening few seconds the only thing you can afford is cursor warmth. My hope is that by doing so people would figure out how to use the shop in the sidebar and also learn about the tooltips on hover.  If the user has cursor warmth right from the start how do I teach them about it without a tutorial?

I’m glad that you eventually figured it out. My goal is for the gameplay rules to be discoverable without explicit tutorial. But I will rethink this and for the full version maybe I’ll put in an optional tutorial that provides more info.

Reallly appreciate your feedback!

Wow! Great game! I just had to play to see if I could finish it...got to the end of Wave 11 and then lost to the boss. I could see myself playing this while listening to podcasts or something. Well done!

Developer

awesome, thanks a lot for trying it out!  I will be updating it after the jam ends if you’re interested in seeing it grow.  Thanks again!

Very interesting mechanics! Had a great time playing it...

Developer

Thanks!  Glad you enjoyed it!

Well done sticking to the theme!

Developer

Thanks a lot!

Nice approach to the theme. It is a simple but fun game to play.

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play!

fun simple game! keep up the good work! :D

Developer

Thanks!

This was simple but fun.  And very tiny as befits the theme. Well done :)

Developer

Thanks very much!

One of the best takes on the theme so far—it truly feels like a tiny world!

The game looks simple, yet it's very cool. The ability to retry a wave makes it feel more friendly and fair. Some sound effects could help further enhance the atmosphere, but overall, great work. I’d love to see more content added.

Keep up the great work!

I really liked the visuals of the game and the implementation of the theme, very simplistic and gives off a very medical/bio vibe. The game progression and the mechanics are really well implemented and the movement of the cells felt very natural. Didn't know the white cells could die at first. A pretty complete game that is just missing music and SFX. Overall good job!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and commenting!  I will definitely add sound once the jam ends.

Submitted

Wow. Many mechanics are really well done. The only missing thing is sound and bgm.

This game has potential and I think it can be a really good game with little polish.

Good job.

Developer

Thanks so much!

A very nice game, only thing it lacked was music and sound; good job!

Developer

Thank you so much, I appreciate it.  I plan to add music and sound effects after the jam ends.

Thanks for the kind words!

It is really good and engaging! I really enjoyed playing it, I reached wave 8, and I couldn't hit them with my bombs hahaha

Developer

Thanks for playing my game!

super clever mechanics to combine everything into a single resource.
I made it to wave 8 and would probably keep playing if it had a soundtrack and sound. but well done anyway!

Submitted

Great concept and execution. Risk vs reward for a big upgrade vs opening yourself up to attacks! Been playing this during my calls all morning!

Developer

Hey man that’s awesome, glad you’re enjoying it!  Yeah, that’s the way to beat the game! You gotta constantly take big risks on economy upgrade or else you don’t have enough cells to withstand the waves at the end.

I played this one for a good while. Fun game loop! I do really wish there were some SFX or music though. I understand it's hard to fit it in, I barely had time for my sound. Had to squeeze it in right at the end. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing! And yeah I was soooo sleep deprived by the end of the 10 days... was a struggle figuring out how to make this game.  But I learned a lot.  And I absolutely have to break my habit of not putting sound in games.

Thank you for playing!

I almost skipped sound this time around, I was also very sleep deprived. I am a Music educator, so I usually do all my own SFX and music, but there just wasn't time for this one. I use mostly FreeSound.org if I need to grab something real quick. That site is awesome for situations like this.

I second what most people have already said, it took a little figuring out at first but its enjoyable to play. Reminds me of a cookie clicker type game with the upgrades but with a bit more strategy involved. You didn't use many assets to make it so congratulations on that too (I used a handful to put mine together). Good game, well done!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, that's what I was going for!  Cookie clicker + tower defense, which after implementing this, I'm not sure how well these concepts go together!  But it was a fun experiment!

Submitted

I think you blended the concepts quite well, it's an interesting idea!
