Great game! Like I mentioned on discord, this was super impressive! I really enjoyed this game! My jaw dropped when I realized you had a whole battle system in the game, so this was awesome! Some feedback if you would like:

-There were a couple of times I battled in front of trees or other objects which was strange, but not unplayable.

 - At first, it was unclear on where enemies spawned, so it could help to have zones / visual indicators where enemies can be encountered

 - After the second boss, the fights started feeling a little tedious, so it would be cool if there was more to do (other than just finding which one beats which enemy) like items, special attacks, run, etc

-This goes with the last point, the fights got longer and just come down to if I get enough blocks to withstand the onslaught of the fleas while trying to whittle down the rhino beetle, so maybe adding a critical strike zone or chance could help it not stagnate? - especially with a rhino and spider, it got annoying how often the spider healed the rhino.

Otherwise, this is a spectacular entry, good job!

I hate qte system but in your game it's funny. :)

This game has so much soul it it.

From the graphics to the gameplay, it worked as a charm. Wont be surprised if it comes top 3 overall.

Amazing job people, you did well!

Had an absolute blast with this one, thank you!

Awesome job! Love the perspective of this turned based RPG. You should definitely expand upon this and make it a full out RPG with levels and such.

I enjoyed playing this game. I liked the quick time events, made the combat engaging and fun. I did not like the text placement, it's unusual and missed the first few texts.

Super fun game! You could add a leveling system or some other sort of progression so that random encounters don't feel pointless but other than that it's perfect

Very cool! Well executed theme and great all around!

Wow, this game looks amazing! I love everything from the visuals to the combat mechanics. I'm honestly really impressed. Great job!

Really amazing, the story and the combat was really great and the fact we have to time the attacks makes it much better!

Really well done, I loved how you incorporated the theme and I was impressed with how much personality you were able to give each of the enemies mechanically even though it is pretty simple.  And the art and sound was great as well.

Nice job guys, the rpg qte mechanics are solid. I kind of wished I could run away sometimes but I had fun.

Dang, this might be my new favorite game of the jam so far. LOVE the 2.5D aesthetic, the pixel art is perfect, the world was well-crafted, the combat's great (I recently started playing Expedition 33 which has a similar "either you do the quick time events or you lose this turn-based combat" kind of thing, and I really like it). I think there were a lot of creative ideas implemented within this design space to represent different enemy types.
Of course I was hoping to see leveling/progression to keep the combat fresh, but I understand it must have taken tons of focus and effort to make this much.

Kickass job, love it!!

Amazing job on the game. I love the title screen and title. The combat mechanic was fun to play and engaging. The graphics overall was great, with my only complaint being the terrain texture was a bit too busy looking.  It was a lengthier game than I anticipated. Very well polished. My suggestion would be to make the game fully playable through the keyboard, in particular in the combat. Great job and keep up the good work!

Edit: I also wanted to add that I appreciated the variety in the combat and how more elements were introduced as you played. Notably, the enemies that attack more than once in a turn and the taunting one.

Great visuals, nice gameplay. Music was a bit annoying for me but fitted the vibe of old school rpg. Interesting combat mechanics as well. Overall a really great jam entry !

Damn that's good. And not even because you combined two of my fav things: FF and ants. Amazing sound and visuals, gameplay is good. The game would benefit a lot from some progress / levelling system, in my opinion.

For the balance purposes, I would suggest lowering the Spider's healing amount and Flea's speed a bit.
Antagonist made me chuckle.

Amazing work!

Totally agree on the progression. I think ultimately our team chose to ignore character progression in this case to pursue what we could with our limited availabilities during the jam. Thanks so much for playing and for the appreciation!
