I missed your game during the review period (thought I'd got everyone I followed from yesteryear(s), doh). Was a cool concept and implementation. Neat little package and not too difficult - I mean sometimes it was tricky to get a heart across but our intrepid cheater doesn't lose lives so often :)

This was a lot of fun! I was horribly bad at it using only a trackpad but the difficulty curve felt good. I love the story too! Nice work. 😎

Submitted

Cool game I like the idea, difficulty ramps up quickly.

Submitted

This was pretty fun once I worked out what I was supposed to do, very original idea and overall a cool game

very fun game. Took me a minute to figure out the mechanics but thats cos I'm not used to these but once I figured it out I had it then I stuck it out.
Great job well done.

Harder than Undertale, 10/10 :))

Brilliant concept, fresh and original. :) I think with a bit of polish it could turn into a proper game!

Wel done!!

Developer

thanks very much I appreciate it :)

So silly and meta, I love it!

Developer

Heh thanks :). Glad you enjoyed :).

Your jam entry last year was fantastic and this year you did not disappoint! This game is truly genuinely fun. I enjoyed it a lot and it's one of the few jam games I've actually been able to reach the end of. Awesome work! Hope to see you submit next year too ^-^

Developer(+1)

aww thanks very much! :) Just checked and realised you were the one who made Stall last year, which was one of the best I think!
Glad you enjoyed playing! I do try and make my games beatable for Jams :), though some struggle with the controls still. But it's great to hear you made it to the end :)

Thanks for playing!

That was a really interesting take on the theme and strangely addictive!

I loved how you couldn't see fully what was going on on the arcade game but you could hear it all, very clever! The difficulty really ramps up!

music and sounds were very authentic! a very enjoyable game!

Developer

Huzzah! Glad someone got what I was trying to do with the fake game being played bellow :). Thanks for that!
Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it.

Beautiful game!  I had a very good time playing it!!  Loved the spikes on the ground, before it was easy to put the heards on the green zone.  Good work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Much appreciated!
Was trying to get the player used to the game a little before adding in the spikes :), then more spikes,.. then mooorrreee spikes! :D.
Good to know you found the controls easy enough. Some found it to hard, others to easy :).

Submitted

Personally, I think they are fine like they are.

What an interesting concept! It was very fun! I think the different art styles in the game were kind of off-putting to me, but the gameplay was pretty fun. Overall, good job!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed the game :).
Art wise, I was grabbing assets from a few sources, so perhaps not the best at blending together :).
Thanks for playing!

I like the premise. Controlling the heart is challenging. As soon as the floor got spikes it was just a matter of time that the player would meet their demise.

Developer

Gotta have some floor spikes :D
Side and rood spikes later.
Some found it to hard, some to easy, others squeked through. The Freeplay mode is there to help get used to the controls a bit more, but generally jokes in Gamejams only want a quick one play, so perhaps that mode was a waste of time.
Thanks for playing.

Really fun game, though the screen was a bit too busy. The theme didn't seem to come across to me. Still well done. I really enjoyed the mechanics of the game.

Developer(+1)

Theme, Life in 2D,.. so my game was based on being an Extra Life,. in a 2D game. I thought I was being quite clever :P, maybe not :D.

Thanks for playing. Sorry you found it a bit busy. Does get a bit manic towards the last wave :).

The most important part of a game is enjoying it. I did....................so most important part :D

Fun little game, would be really interested to see the other modes teased in the popup after beating the game though. Also would be cool to have a scoring system as dropping hearts in the pipe after Max was reached felt a little pointless, but what was there was really fun, great job!

Developer

Max hearts was there as a sort of control to not stock up to many hearts in the easier levels. Regardless I did toy with keeping track of that for scoring, but decided against any form of "high score" for this game.
the other "Game modes" were just a bit of story flavour to tease with. Making 3 more entire games on my own would have been too much in the time I had :P.
Glad to hear you beat the game though :). Helps balance out those who struggled with the controls completely and found it to hard.

Submitted(+1)

A really neat little game , i really enjoyed the story/context on why you are topping up the hearts.

The mechanic to move the heart was interesting but i felt it was a bit to finnicky and the last level i felt was impossible to get the hearts to the other side (still won though with 1 heart).

Overall it was a good game, great job!

Developer

Great job on finishing it! Yeah the last level is a bit nuts, but if you've mostly stocked up on lives before that, it doesn't matter if you don't make it during that wave. Had to go a bit all out though for it :P.
It's a tricky one controls wise. For me it's a piece of cake now, and I can sail through most levels fine, I'm very in tune to them (obviously as I've played it loads while building). Some people found the game to hard and couldn't get to the end, others found it to easy.
I hoped added in the Free play mode would give people chance to play around a bit with it, but in Jam games most jokes don't want to play one game for too long anyway :P.
Anyway, thanks for playing and the feedback.

Submitted(+1)

Nice game mechanics with a cool design for attacking the heart !)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing :).

Submitted(+1)

Very interesting take on the theme. I was afraid that spikes might get introduced in the ceiling as the difficulty goes up, glad it didn't.

Developer

heh, weeelllll on the last level they did come in :D, as well as the blocks rotating. But by then a lot is going on, and you may have missed them :P

Thanks for playing :)

Submitted(+1)

Oh, maybe my memory is playing tricks on me.  Sorry about that. I've been playing a lot of game jam games...

Submitted(+1)

Great mechanics, looks and sounds. I'm not good enough to complete it yet.

Developer(+1)

back to Freeplay mode for you :P.
Thanks for playing :)

Submitted(+1)

Love the story mode. A bit of a challenge trying to control the heart but that made it really fun. Great job!

Developer

heh, thanks :). I personally sail through it all far to fast now, couple of clicks and I can sail the early levels with ease, so my sense of difficulty is skewed.
Thanks for playing :)
