Good looking game, good sound effects, nice animations and good music! I also really liked the boss fight, it was well designed and a difficult test of agility but I was able to get past it. I would recommend tweaking the physics a little to make it a little more snappy and improving the enemy AI a little as they seem really braindead.

Great job! I felt accomplished after finishing this.

Developer

I actually liked them braindead haha joking thx for the feedback, much appreciated

I'm glad u've enjoyed the game - and that u finished it :)

Fun platformer! Was slightly hard to shoot at time, maybe being able to shoot while jumping would have made it feel a bit smoother. All in all I had a great time playing it, great job!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for your note, glad u enjoyed playing it :D

Nice game, but a bit repetitive.  I liked the owlmen and their stylish cloaks. :)

Cool game! A very interesting idea about moon dust and owls. Among platformers, this is probably the best game I've played in the last few days.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks so much, glad uve enjoyed it :)

Pretty good game! Graphics look nice and clean and pleasing to the eyes. Sound effects and music got the job done. Controls were responsive.

The dynamic of killing the enemies for moon dust was cool, but killing them I found to be a hassle. If they were not on the same elevation as me, I found it nearly impossible to hit them due to the delay in my shot and lack of ability to control the height of my jump. Getting on the same elevation as them put me in danger, though, and the amount of moon dust I got per enemy was too small for it to be worth it.

I also had trouble with the camera. Often it would swing back to an area where there were no enemies, I would go back through, and the enemy would be right in my face hitting me. Other times, the camera would show no ground, making me think there was a pit, but when I fell, I just landed on ground.

Overall, you got the foundations down solid, and this game could really shine with a few tweaks. Good job!

Game and concept of Moon Dust was good. Boss fight was good and well thought. Sounds were also good and right to the point.

It would be better if you could change the animation state right on fly. Not to wait until animation is totally done. When I jump and hit Space , I expect that arrow  will trigger, But it wasn't the case. And one more thing enemies were coming right on to my face even if i tried to hit them from far, May be the arrow frequency has to increase.

Good work  ;-)

That boss was great! Most of the attacks were very well telegraphed and had a clear way to deal with, wasn't very long nad was challenging. All the signs of a good boss fight! If I were to point something I didn't like, it is mostly the control scheme. Jumping with up is usually bad (though not as bad on a keyboard, granted) but attacking on space and enter felt just bad on the hands, though luckily we rarely needed the moonshot move. Other than that, why couldn't we jump and shoot?  There was also little indication of when we got hit and little vfx as well. But yeah, I think the pixel art and the boss fights more than made up for those nitpicks. Excellent job!

Developer

Thank you, happy to hear you finished the game and that you've enjoyed it :)

We came up with the idea to jump and shoot way too late into development, we just didnt have enough time adding that feature. Would have added it without a doubt if we had more time on our hands :)

I've murdered so many owls haha. The giant boss is my favourite, and the art is also very nice.  I found you could run by a lot of the owls pretty easily, but the boss was challenging.

Developer

Glad you have enjoyed it :)
I became aware of the fact that you could just speed run the regular levels rather late into the game jam - so I made the boss x3 times bigger, so no jumping-over shenanigans  would work at the boss fight haha

When you go to bed at night, be careful, maybe the owls will come for some payback haha

Really fun game with great artwork and character designs. The movement and shooting mechanics are a bit stiff but otherwise, it feels great to move around and shoot.

The boss battle was quite trivial once I found a spot where I could just stand and shoot, jumping when needed.

Overall, a wonderful game! I enjoyed playing it. :)

This game is really fun, I liked the audio and graphics, but adding more particle effects would make the game more beautiful. Fighting those owlmen was epic and cool :D but it would have been better if I could jump and shoot an arrow at the same time. The range of an arrow was too short for me, but still managed to kill the boss :D the boss fight was amazing and enjoyable. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much, Im really glad you enjoyed our game, and that you have finished it!
I WISH I had more time adding particles and more lights throughout the game, but November ended quickly haha.

I totally agree that it would have had added a lot :)

Really fun game with incredible artwork and sound design. I loved the character art - the owl men were so cute how could you make me shoot them >:(

The character movement was really great for the most part but I would have really liked a mid-air attack. There were some points in the level where having a mid-air arrow shot would have saved me from having to take damage or do a hit-and-run style of play. It also increases the skill ceiling of the game to have to time jump shots so that's always a win in my opinion.

Really amazing presentation overall and wonderful game! Thanks for making it I really enjoyed it!

Developer

Thanks for such an enthusiastic comment!

Its really fun seeing someone getting "mad" from shooting a character you've made haha I thought I was the only one out there feeling like
that sometimes :)

The jumping and shooting part is understandable - was probably the most requested feature out there - if I could, i would add it without any hesitation, but alas, its a game jam

Again, thanks so much for your input :)

Loved the graphics, very stylish. Also very impressive jumping, very snappy and smooth. The downside is with the arrow it is not very easy to aim and shoot, usually enemies are so close and there is not enough time to adjust. Even jumping to their backs they still come to you fairly quickly. Also, if the screen transition between areas can happen a bit earlier (not so much close to the edges) it would be great.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback :)

Cool gameplay reminiscent of Mario NES games haha brings back memories. One of the early levels at the end was fairly difficult so a smoother difficulty curve would improve the game. Very nice graphics and audio!

Good stuff, check out my game as well =) would appreciate it a lot! https://avatar-nick.itch.io/moon-blob

Developer

Thanks for the feedback :)
and i'll definitely check out your game! :)

This was good! Competently put together, especially for a game jam. Boss fight was probably the best part. I believe the boss's attack patterns lent themselves well to the strategy of finding an opening to stand still and shoot.

Submitted

I found a good spot too and just stood there and shot the whole time, occasionally jumping to avoid the head on attacks. But still a fun boss fight!

Developer

Thank you :)

I wanted the Boss fight to be fairly easy, so people could actually finish it in a go or 2, since this is a game jam entry :)

Submitted

Very nice art and presentation. I found the attack difficult to use partly because the level design required you to fight in close quarters, which bow and arrows aren't great for! I think tighter movement and a refined attack (perhaps with a weaker melee attack) would improve it a lot.

Submitted(+1)

really good work for a jam game!

Game mechanics need a bit more love though. :D (add shoot while jumping, pre-shot animation takes too long)
Those sorcerer owl guys are barely beatable. You cannot shoot while jumping, and once you stand on their ground, they shoot faster than you. So you cannot dodge their shots if you want to kill them.

Developer

Thanks for the compliment :)

Yea these mages are toughies - but we cant afford having a game thats too easy haha

I love platformers so I really enjoyed playing your game. Loved the artwork too! <3

Developer

Thanks a lot :D

I was wondering where the people who love platformers hide, they are pretty rare :)

Submitted

good game dude

if i may say the attack needs to be more responsive we cant jump while attacking and attack takes too long was really hard with this and the attack range to beat the boss.

still fun

Developer (1 edit)

Im glad u found our game fun :)

And thanks for the feedback 😃

This is a very fun game! I got stuck on the part where there is a large group of owlmen, I think I used up the moonshot too early and even on retry couldn't obtain enough to use it again. My favorite part of the game was the graphics, very impressed by the art.

Developer

Thank you, Im glad u liked it :)

Yea haha the moonshot should be saved for special parts of the game, like that rift full of owlmen

Submitted

Had a lot of fun with this one. Wish I'd saved my moonshot for the huge crowd instead of hitting it just so I could see what it did! lol ..  literally laughed out loud when I got fireballed by that huge group.  :-)

Final boss was epic.  Great job and the art was really really nice.

Developer

Thanks for the great comment, glad u had fun :)

I enjoyed ur game and art as well haha had a lot of laughs there, getting hit by airplanes and what not haha (we even used ur pig art as memes at work - hope u dont mind that lol)
