Nice game! Sometimes it was hard to figure out how the game worked. But it's a good jam game!

Feedback on my game would also be appreciated. (Its my first game jam)

It took me a while to figure out how the game actually worked but once I got it it's really well done. Good job I suggest maybe switching out the block square for an arrow to make it more clear what its actually for.

idk if it was me or a bug but the game kept freezing

Developer

it must be a bug, try using a downloaded version, maybe WebGL has caught the bug you had...

For some reason I lost lol But, nice job!

Maybe just one thing... Not sure if it is my bad and I'm just a casual, but I didn't understand the purpose of the minimap. Looks fine and good, but it only shows the same as the main camera, so I see no reason why to have it more than esthetic and in that case I found it unnecessary (not saying that it's wrong, just that you probably can take advantages that you have a minimap and play with the player's expectative).

Anyway, good job!!!

Developer(+1)

The minimap is a result of my over ambition... I imagined map to have location of NPCs to follow, and all sorts of things just couldn't complete it in time...

Hi,

nice game. took me a while to figure out the black square.

Please feel free to try out my game and rate it here:  https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/474542

Many thanks,

Kris

Great graphics and audio, and interesting concept!

My only issue is that the game is sometimes unclear on it's rules.

For example, sensing a lie does a "negative" sound effect, and accepting their quest leads you to a dark character that turns your screen black. It took me a while to realize that my HP got reduced. I didn't really understand the connection between the dark character and my HP going down o_O

Also I wasn't sure when lying is successful or not. Sometimes when I lie it works and sometimes when I lie it doesn't work. I might have missed something but I didn't get it xD

Other than that, the game is great. Good work!

Developer

Lying in early stages of the game is purely random, further successful lying is dependent on lie skill and trust of NPC.

Sensing lie if NPC said the truth will turn into sad tune, accepting a lie mission leads to the black npc and loss in health as you got scammed...

Hope these helps...

Really fun and interesting Game! It is also beautifully designed.(:

Cool concept and well made! The graphics and music are great.

The game is well done, nice retro graphics and retro music. The main mechanic is interesting at the beginning but after some time it's too like the same series of actions ending up not reading anymore. Theme has central role and it must have been a huuuuge amount of work for a one week jam!

Nice game, liked the end

Cool concept and nice graphics!

can't wait to play the full version ^^

I actually laughed out loud when I offended someone by accusing them of lying:). Great job on the humor here!  Awesome game!   https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/476728

This game is so full of content. I can say that it was hard work for u course to make this game genre in game jams is suicidal.

Really cute art work! The quest options are a bit repetitive though, but this concept is really cool! I like the music as well, very retro-styled :D

Ok so, the graphics are really good and the map is pretty big for a jam game.

Also there are different quests but I didn't understand why I had to tell lies all aroud. I mean, at some point is like farming XP, it's not about lying it's about doing the same 3 thigs over and over to get your bar full and get the treasure.

You tell the player at the start of the game the they have to learn how to lie but I didn't feel like that's the case at all. If you gave me multiple dialogue options I'd have felt that I was learning something but like this I was just farming.

And the guy in front of the cave didn't feel like my final boss but like some bystander.

Also I didn't understand what happened if I figured out that the person I was talking to was lying. It gave me the same sound and feedback all the times and it didn't help me progress in the story.

The main idea is interesting but it needs to maybe have less features but very clear and satisfying.

The music theme was nice but maybe too short for the game itself.

Developer

Thankyou for the feedback. The guard is quite acceptable cause if you pass the guard you understand the real final boss is me the game developer... The farming is something I am quite unsure, as you lie many times like anything will improve, the dialogues for learning the user player lying may be far difficult for me to implement, I'll look forward learning how can I implement that mechanic...

Thanks again for the feedback...

Developer

I'll work on a tutorial part for better understanding of the game...

It was not clear at the beginning what should I do. I brought the same package again and again to the same guy,  variated when do I press "Lie" or "Truth" but sometimes nothing changed. I see that the level bar above the NPC getting lower, and in the end he won't talk to me again, but my Lie Bar doesn't move at all sometimes. The black screen wasn't clear either (until I read the comments). I could not get to the ending unfortunately :(

I love the artstyle and the music, it fits well in this world.

If you polish the tutorial part, I think it could be a really good game after all, well done! :)

Developer

I think I should add a tutorial bit in the game... Will work on it. Thanks for playing the game

my review:

The game has a very nice artstyle, I just love pixelart!

the music is also damngood.

it fits the theme well so good gob!

now. I was really confused at the beginning, you tell the player what the goal is, but then he is just in this world and finish. The minimap isnt helping me because it shows the same you already see. I Think you set the playerspeed a little bit too slow in my oppinion. And I didnt understand those black people on the map and also when i pressed Space squares appiered on the screen? What do they actually do?

But it would be a very good game with those upgrades I think

keep up the great work!

if you havent seen my game yet then get pls a look at it, not sure if already did

Developer

The minimap is a result of my over ambition... I imagined map to have location of NPCs to follow, and all sorts of things just couldn't complete it in time.

The black npc appears when you accept a scam quest, (basically you get scammed and loose a heart) many suggested to type it up for better understanding, I updated that...

The space bar is something new that I am hearing, I'll look at it surely...

Thanks for pointing out these things from my game really appreciate it :)

While grindy, an interesting and explorable game. Props on such an ambitious game for only 7 days. For sure some fun mechanics to explore here.
