Love the art of the roboter! I like how the enemies change direction when you jump over them. I felt like the game was a little too easy, maybe reducing the hearts of the player or adding more enemy types might make the gameplay more interesting!
Its a little confusing but it's pretty good! The jump is a bit floaty though and the collisions are slightly off.
Thank you!
What bits were confusing?
What colliders are off? Are you talking about this? This is intended behaviour.
Anyway, what else did you like and didn’t like about the game?
I would suggest trying to incorporate the rewind mechanic a bit more into the actual gameplay. What if rewinding would put you into the same level, but will instead change the player so that they can no longer access certain paths, but other paths are opened up to them instead. Just an idea, but I would seriously like to see the rewind incorporated more into the gameplay.
Thanks for the feedback!
Is there anything else you liked and didn’t like about the game?
Nice funny looking graphics.
I played the web version and I was completly lost. Didnt know where to go or what to do.
I think you have to be more clear about what players need to do or guide them. I might have just been playing it the wrong way but I also didnt see how the jumping robot fits the theme of rewind. Maybe I had to beat the game to find out.
Other than that congrats on finishing the jam and keep it up.
Thank you!
At the time of development, we didn’t think that we didn’t need to give the player any direction.
The game fits the theme because when you finish the level you rewind back to level 1 for some weird reason that you need to find out and stop.
Anyway, what else did you like and didn’t like about the game?
art is nice, sound is nice, mechanics is nice, game is aswm
keep it man or women !!!!
Thank you!
What else did you like and didn’t like about the game?
Very fun game! Good job! Loved the level design.
Thank you!
What else did you like and didn’t like about the game?
Unfortunately when I died the game threw an exception(playing the web gl version) and I couldn't proceed until I reloaded the page. The character and art style were good and I enjoyed the music a lot though! Nice job! :)
Thank you!
This is a bug that I knew about didn’t really bother to fix for some reason. Maybe because it didn’t cause many problems in the Unity Editor. It would be an easy fix but I just didn’t bother as I didn’t see it as a problem at the time.
Anyway, what else did you like and didn’t like about the game?
The game lacks a proprer sense of challenge (i was more than often feeling lost and bored, and the enemys didn't hurt me even once) ang the theme execution is very subtle (i didn't reconize that was the same level until the second last room, with the "void floor"), i still think that the concept of the game was great tho... 😗
I do agree that the game lacks a challenge and is sort of boring. I was actually expecting bad reviews about the game being boring. However we sadly didn’t have time to think of some ideas to make the game more fun and implement them. I’d say that it was time issues (my timezone and the rest of my team’s timezone is a 14 hour difference) and we probably think of ideas better as a group.
Simple and good game. I think when game start I need to click the play button. and then realise I can move the player. Need time to figured out to moved to the direction to play. I don't know but, I can push the virusses and make it fall from platform with only one health consume. Overall this game was fun to play and great music :D
Thank you!
I know the main menu is a bit confusing and I should have made it also reacting to clicking too. You are supposed to bounce back when you collide with the viruses thus making it impossible to push the viruses but we did not have time for that.
Anyway, what else did you like and didn’t like about the game?
The game, and specially the main character looks and sounds fun. I'd check the jump, that when you are in a corner touching a wall, behaves oddly and the and i'd add some sort of direction, like an arrow, in the main menu, to understand what one is supposed to do to get the game started
Thank you!
Player movement is one of the buggiest parts of the game and I tried my best to fix all the bugs but some will remain. For the menu, I probably should have also had the buttons react to click but I didn’t think of it at the time it would be such a big issue.
What else did you like and didn’t like about the game? I will check out your game tomorrow.
Thank you!
Do you still like how I did the main menu? I know it was confusing for you but I’d like to know if you like it or not.
The player movement is by far the buggest thing in the game. I tried my best to iron out every bug but some may remain. The reason why I didn’t look into physics material is that it would be more work. Now that I think about it I probably should have just used physics materials instead as it saves a lot of headache.
As for the holes but you don’t fall, are you talking about this? This is intended behaviour.
We are aware of this animation with the robot bug but sadly we did not have time to fix it.
Anyway, what else did you like and didn’t like about the game?
I can only speak on the programming (as that’s what I did) and maybe a little bit of game/level design (as I’m not the main person who started this).
I probably should have made the buttons react to clicking too but also preserving the menu I have right now.
I also probably should have made that pit fall. I actually suggested it should make you fall and end the game but there was a collider and the main person said it was intentional so I left it alone.
I also probably should have just used physics material instead of going through all the trouble with the player movement and jump.
Hi
I played your game for some good minutes just because you did a great job with your music.
But I have some constitutive criticism to say:
I think you could have done better with collision. In the third rewind I was stuck in a tight gap between ceiling and floor. Some parts have have jumps, also.
I encountered an invisble floor too. Maybe your layers were mixed?
I liked the character jump, probably is unique in this jam.
If you have some spare time, pls check mine as well. Its a puzzle game with 12 levels about a pirate that rewinds bombs in time.
Thank you!
For the invisible floor do you mean this? This is intentional
What do you mean by some parts have jumps?
Anyway, what else did you like and didn’t like about the game? I will check out your game tomorrow.
Hard jumps**
Art for the robot is great, - controls feel pretty nice too, and the animations are cool. As it's unfinished just a suggestion but I'd say as the robot is grey add some more colour to the backgrounds in general to contrast? Also it would be great if there were more enemies and the robot could shoot, and in level design maybe try and steer the player a little bit more, just my opinions though, but I can see it with this as a basis of turning into a fun game! :) Good work. Check out my game too if you like. Cheers!
Thank you!
We were going to improve the environment but sadly the tileset was deleted and we did not have the time to make a new one. We also had different enemies but sadly we also did not have time to implement those.
What do you mean by in level design try to steer the player a bit more? Do you mean make it more interesting?
Anyway, what else did you like and not like? I will check out your game tomorrow.
In terms of level design, I mean steer as in let the player know where they have to go a bit more, what their goal is. Doesn't have to be arrows or anything but just hints as to what the route is and what the player needs to achieve. I generally really liked the feel of the game though, and like you said it's not finished, so with some more work be interested to see how it turns out :)
The visual art of the game is really good, I liked the tweening animation you did, really impressive. The gameplay is a bit bland, although it seems like you ran out of time, so that's understandable. Since the game is incomplete, it's hard to give any criticism...maybe the controls could use a little refinement?...or some kind of combat? Idk, sorry.
If you are discouraged by this, don't be, making a complete, perfect game in a few days from scratch is impossible. Take this as a learning/training experience.
Thank you!
I do agree that the gameplay is a bit bland but this is a game jam (and our second game jam too) and we wouldn’t have time for that.
What are the problems in the controls? Is the player movement a bit buggy? I’m sorry about that but I tried my best to perfect the player movement but inevitably there are going to be bugs.
Anyway, what else did you like and didn’t like about the game?
Uhhh, well the premise is kinda interesting, like you have to replay one level but with different condition (reminded me of the blue elephant game).
The controls isn't buggy per say, but the jump could use some improvement.
See this for better platformer jumping:
Also, the robot jump animation is kinda cute/funny, lol.I liked the art for the player robot. The music was also fitting I think for this game. I would've liked a bit more visual feedback for when you took damage though as I didn't even realize I had been hit until I collected a heart lol. Good job!
Thank you! Is there anything else you liked and didn’t like?
I like the art design for the game and the music is great, perfect volume and type of music. To improve, I would say that the colliders were a bit funny and I felt that because of that, some jumps were harder than they should've been, and also make it seem more rewarding to actually finish like a happy sound effect at the end of every level or something, but overall pretty good!
Thanks! I’m sorry about the fact the jumping (and by extension player movement) is a bit buggy. I tried my best to fix any bugs that occured in player movement but there will still be bugs.
For the colliders being a bit funny, are you talking about the colliders in the pit and you don’t fall? That is intended behaviour.
What else did you like and didn’t like about the game?
Yeah, the pit and also you kinda just float above enemies if you jump on them. I also liked the start menu where you move into 'credits' or wherever you want to go instead of clicking, but it would have been good to have the movement tutorial bit there instead of in the levels
Gotta say I loved this. The graphics, animation were superb. This is also my second only Jam so I feel we have a common vibe. The audio also went well with the game. Great job!
If I had to give one thing for constructive criticism, it would be that when the player moves left to reverse the sprite so that it is facing the other way. But that is minimal. Again. Great Job.
I will follow you. Feel free to do the same.
Please download and play / rate my game as well! https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/723414

Thanks! We didn’t have time to fix the animation. What else did you like and didn’t like?
For me your game was already on the list of games to play before you commented.
really good art and animation but the game i didnt understand whats happening or what to do, so it definitly took out of the expirince, all in all, good game
Thank you! What did you not understand? Is there anything else you liked and didn’t like about the game?
i didnt understand the point of the game, what happened to the robot, why is he there, where he is and where i should go, i was just wondering around trying to find where to go to finish the game
Love the art style. Animations are really cute.
Thank you! Is there anything else you liked and didn’t like about the game?
I think that when u collide with the virus from behind, you don't take damage. That bothered me a bit. Other than that , it is a great game.
Also checkout my game https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/724912 . I would love your feedback.
Strange you should take damage when you begin to collide with the virus no matter the direction. When does that happen?
When u collide from the front , the virus goes back a bit and come back to damage u again. But from the behind , thats not the case. U take damage once and then you are invincible till u stop colliding it.
Thanks for letting me know of this issue.
It's nice game i loved the art style for the character and it's animations! but i came across a bug, in some level there was a pit where i think the player should be able to fall into, but you can walk over it, i think that you forgot a collider there. I would suggest some minor improvements, like an indicator to let you know what level your are currently in. Hope you check out my game https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722968
Thank you! You shouldn’t be able to fall through the pit. Walking over the pit is intended behaviour. What else did you like and didn’t like?
