In what way does your game fit the theme?
You have to rewind the toy car crank to charge it, then relasing the charge it to move

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the game's code and made all the game's art myself

cool take on the theme

wish the max speed wasnt to low, i mean give a kid a wind up car and the first thing they do is wind it up to the max to see it go flying

Developer (1 edit)

To me the car dosen't feel that slow, i mean in two or three charges it travels a full side of the map, but you're not the first person that tells me that the car feels slow, so i guess my opinion is wrong... πŸ€”

Anyway, thanks for the feedback!!! 😊

Submitted(+1)

oh, it never traveled more than  a couple car lengths for me

Perhaps sonething is going wrong with physics or the framerate

Developer

Then i absolutely have to look onto it...

Sorry for the inconvenience πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ

Nice concept of rewind. Fun to play.

Developer

I'm glad you liked it!! πŸ˜ƒ

Wow! This is one of those submissions where you don't rewind time, which makes your game very unique! There is definitely room for improvement, and I wish there was some type of warning that an enemy is about to spawn, else only people with drastic reaction time would be able to master your game XD. Great entry!

Developer

Yeah, at the moment the enemy cars are a little unfair do deal with, sorry for that!! πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ

I'm glad that you liked the game concept anyway!! Thanks for the feedback!! πŸ˜ƒ

Congratulation nice game! it has a cute style of toys :D

Developer

Thank you for the comment!! 😊

Nice game! Some feedbacks:

  • Nice art & models
  • Nice take on the rewind concept.
  • Gameplay:
    • A little weird why rotating the car would make it jump each time
    • Enemy cars appear out of no where, I think it makes the challenge kinda unfair for the player. Furthermore I'm not sure if we can hit other cars, but I find it almost impossible to do that. I think the it would improve a lot if the player car not only needs to survive, but also needs to hit other cars to score points
    • Not sure about the 90 degrees rotation. I think that incremental rotation could be better as it gives more freedom & control to the player

Overall, good concept, well done!

Do play & rate mine too if you can :)

Developer

Thank you for the detailed feedback!! I'm glad that you liked the models & the take on the theme!!!

I agree with all the point that you made!! The only thing that I want to respond at is the first point:

The car goes up and down every rotation because, while developing i was immaginating that a kid is playing with those toys, and to rotate the car the kid had to pick it up, rotate it and then put it down again. But yeah, whitout an hand it isn't very understandable, thus it can be look kinda weird.

If you want a bonus challange (as if the game wasn't already hard and frustrating enough) you can always try do dodge a car with a rotation. It does absolutely nothing aside making you look cooller. 😎

The orhter point, if you want further explaination, are adressed in other comments.

Of course i'll play your game as well πŸ˜ƒ

Neat concept, too bad you didn't have more time to flesh it out a bit! Congrats on completing the jam.

Developer

Thank you!!! 😊

This was a neat game. It actually reminded me of some of those old-school 3D platformers, just with more unconventional controls. I'll say that I didn't find it very replayable, since the objective is "survive," yet there's no way to keep track of how long you've survived, or any sort of "high score" feature. The camera can also be somewhat problematic. Overall, though, the control scheme for this game is really interesting, and with a more fleshed out objective, I think it would be a ton of fun.

Developer

Oh, did the controls made you unconfortable to play the game?? I'm sorry if that's the case...

Mmhhh... I tought of the "no way to keep track of how long you've survived" when i was in development, and i wanted to add some sort of collectables to solve that problem, but i didn't managed to do it before the deadline.

The camera gave me so much trouble in development. I mean, most of the dev time was spent on trying to fix the junky camera and the junky car controller, trust me when i say that in development it was much worst... Stil, i'm sorry for the trouble it caused!!! πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ

But yeah, i pretty much agree with everything you said!!! I hope you enjoyed the game, at least a little bit. Thanks for the usefull feedback!! πŸ˜ƒ

Cute game, cute props, I especially liked the ufo, although I didn’t really find it very fun and the controls were really janky, I’m not sure how to win in the game either (first I thought the objective was to get to the ufo). I suppose it’s a sandbox type game? Anyways, good job! The concept is neat but I don’t feel like the execution is that great

Wow, thank you for the detailed comment!! It's really nice seeing comments like these, once in a while!! 😊

Well, I agree with pretty much everything you said: the game execution isn't great and i don't like either how my game is turned out, the game is unfinished and because of theat it feel not very fun to play, especially since there isn't a real objective at the moment... (you're not the only one that mistaken the ufo as a goal, it's my fault for not explaining well enough πŸ˜“), and you don't know how much it hurts me the total absence of audio in the game... But this is all part of the game making learning process, isn't it?? (Although, i'm not feelling like i'm achiving much progress, i know it's normal, but still... it's another story for another time, i guess... πŸ€”) The controls are the only thing that is *somewhat* justifiable, since at the start the game was supposed to be a puzzle rather than an arena survival, but still... it's very junky (not only to play, but even in the code) Well, at least i'm glad you enjoyed the models...

The score that you game me really surprises me, it's much higher than what i'd have given it... (especially for the Design category: why is that high??)

Submitted(+1)

Because I liked the concept of rewinding up the toy car, I feel like the design of it can be used for a full game in the future, perhaps a puzzle game where you have to rewind it correctly so you don’t run into bombs or something similar? Anyways, I rated your game based on what I feel like the potential with the design is and not the actual game itself :D

Despite not having clear objectives, the concept is original and the art is nice, good job!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you liked it anyway!! Thanks for the feedback!! πŸ˜ƒ

I really like the aesthetics of this game, you nailed it on that aspect. And as I said, the Idea was pretty cool.

Developer

Well, as said, i'm glad tou liked it...

Submitted(+1)

This is a very cool concept! The environment reminds me of a micro machines game which is nostalgic. I can picture some kind of toy car cranking race spawning from this :D

At first when I didn't know that there was no objective, I went straight to the UFO xD. I should have guessed by the the fact that it was slowly, menacingly approaching me

Developer (1 edit)

Ohh, A toy car cranking racing game... That's a cool idea, if i ever seen one... πŸ˜ƒ

And about the objective... Yeah, you're not the first to mistake it for the goal... In your defence i didn't really explained proprelly that the game lacks an objective...πŸ˜…

Submitted(+1)

it would have been better if the car could go full 360 deggres, not in the 90 deggre turn like in game, anyways, nice game

Developer

Yeah, the moviment dosen't really fit with the game current genre, i should've reworked it... Originally the game was intended as a puzzle game, then changed later on, and i haven't really tought to change it... πŸ˜…

Submitted(+1)

shame there was no real objective as the mechanic was fun to play with. would have loved to zoom as fast as the other cars were lol

Developer

Yeah, i agree with pretty much everything you said... πŸ˜…

FUN STORY TIME: I tried to add collectables at the last moment, but then, the deadline closed up... πŸ˜‚

Submitted(+1)

No matter how long I cranked, I could never move the car more than a meter at a time. Was that intended?

Developer

Nope, this is not intended at all!! Actually, this worries me, a lot, to be honest... πŸ˜… (The car should be able to  travel the shortest side of the map in around 3/4 charges, and the wider side in around 6/7 charges)

I couldn't be able to replicate the glitch, so if you can sen me some sort of video or something, to see what's happening, it whould be helpfull!!! 😊

Again, Sorry for the inconvenience!!! πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ
