It's amazing how much content there is! I stopped at the spitting cream roll- just didn't have patience for it, but usually the challenge was fair and bosses were fun :) Great job!

Submitted

It is an interesting game. I would say that the dialog at the start is a bit too long, but overall it’s a fun game

Wow! I really got into the story. And there's so much game here with so many mechanics that all add complexity to it (which is good). I particularly liked having to grab the plank and place it again while I was in mid-air ^_^ Couldn't get past the little spider after the big spider, but really enjoyed what I played so far. Very impressive!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game, and good luck if you ever decide to give it another try!

One of the best games I've tried so far, always nice to see a game with a story in a jam. Keep up the good work.

Submitted(+1)

Wow, what an ambitious game! The levels and features just keep ramping up! The music was also very well done and I loved the set-up in the beginning. The art was nice too, very charming!

Developer

Thanks, glad you liked the game!

Submitted(+1)

Certainly aint the pretties game I've played this jam, but propably the most ambitous. Everytime I thought it would wrap up, it kept going introducing new mechanics.

Gotta say, that giant bat boss was mighty impressive. The spider lowering itself from the ceiling was genuinelyunnerving .Though the giant biscuit fight aged me five years.

As janky as the rope swinging looks like, its surprisingly fun. Checkpoints are (mostly) placed very forgivingly. I appreciate the heavy focus on narrative. Gives the impression there was real vision behind this.

If this was done within a week, I'm mighty impressed.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Well, the project was even more ambitious as there were plans for making an additional lava themed level and a puzzle room as well as making hand-drawn character sprites that would appear during dialogue, but the deadline kinda forced the necessary cut of that content

I enjoyed how much time and effort was put into making a compelling story. Really fun game to play and great submission overall

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game!

There's an impressive amount of stuff into this game. A long story, cutscenes and it even hides a metroidvania? Cool! I unfortunately softlocked in the pickaxe tutorial and couldn't respawn at the checkpoint. What I experienced was great. Nice work!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the things before your softlock, wish you the best of luck in the game if you ever decide to come back to it. Your game was very well done too, one of the best atmospheric games I played during this jam.

It's quite a fascinating story! The drawing reminded me of FNAF mini-games) But in my opinion, the music in the game is too loud...

Submitted(+1)

Okay so first of all, I really like that there was a story and with a plot twist and backstory with rope and pickaxe tutorial. It's metroidvania (I think at least, to me it seems like that), which I really like.

Boss fights were really cool and interesting too, each unique.

Also R to retrieve wooden plank is kinda hard when you are going right, imo it would be better on like shift or ctrl maybe.

Rope sometimes felt a bit uncontrollable though it was doable.

Overall, really fun game, well done, it's kinda long for game jam too imo. Good luck :D

Thanks for playing my game, glad you enjoyed it!

Oh, you wouldn't believe how many weird and hilarious things happened with that rope during testing. Some of rope stages were changed at least twice to be doable. I'd easily call it the funniest gameDev nightmare I've ever created XD

Submitted(+1)

I can imagine XD

Good job, imo one of the best games in this game jam, really, well done

Once again, like in your game from the GMTK Game Jam, you created a really good story. I really enjoyed playing it. I loved the way you integrated the tutorial as a flashback, and all the boss fights were so well done! The game does get a bit hard at times, especially with the rope, and the last boss is really tough too.

Like you said in the game’s dialogue, true dopamine from hard effort is rare in our society — but your game definitely gave me some! Great game, I’m excited to see what you make next.

Developer

Thank you so much for your comment, it means a lot to me.

And of course congrats for making it to the end despite the hardship the game has to offer, you're probably the first person who achieved it! I'm glad I was able to give you a nice true dopamine rush.

Like I said before, stay tuned for the patch notes jam and the halloween visual novel jam as I'll definitely make something for those two ;)

The beginning intro could be shorted. The tutorial for the pickaxe was good.

Developer

Thanks for giving my game a shot and providing some feedback.

Well, I honestly could've made the dialogue skippable for the players who are here only for the gameplay. Another thing to add to the list of post jam improvements!

One of a few entries with a bit of story. Kinda refreshing. Sadly there are no visuals or audio in the beginning so it gets boring quickly.

The gameplay is solid with different mechanics. But there is not somehing groundbreaking new there.

The graphics are basic. One of the things i would keep in mind is to not resize pixelart so the pixel always have the same size.

There seem no soundeffects, which is sad, because they add a lot of gamefeel.

Gj finishing a game and submitting it intime!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, it means a lot! I focused a bit too much on making the levels and getting every mechanic to work, hence the basic graphics and nearly no sound effects.

I'll certainly keep your tip about making pixelart in mind.

The beginning dialogue was interesting. A mighty, golden biscuit in a forgotten civilization with an archeologist willing to risk it all.

ヾ(・ω・)

The Escape menu is making me feel guilty, but I suck at playing platformer games and I have made the archeologist die several times already..

。゚(。ノωヽ。)゚。

so I guess your game will stay in my computer now.

This game is too difficult for me haha.

Some of the control decisions just seem to me to be a bit arbitrary to add a layer of difficulty to it I would say. I don't see why you would have to manually retrieve the platform extension for example instead of it being automatically spawn back into your inventory once you're done with one level and it readies for you in the next one.

Overall I would say if you simplify the controls and make it challenging instead with the mechanics and level designs it would be a better game.

I did enjoy the audio though!

Dang I couldn’t get past that first green spider for the life of me, and the like two to three minute long runback just to cross the two screens to get back there killed any chance of me putting in the time to figure out how to beat it, I tried a few times and could not push through. I liked the flashback upon picking up the pickaxe, that was cool. Controls and pacing definitely need some more thought but it’s cool how much is there, I wonder how much game I ended up missing?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving my game a shot! Well, answering your question, a bit over a half.

Legend has it that by the end of the rating period there will be at least one person who makes it to the end XD

Submitted(+1)

Made with heart! You can tell the creator really wanted to tell a story.
The controls are a bit complex, I almost wished for extra hands to press everything during gameplay.
Still, I really enjoyed it!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

Maybe it's just me but the controls felt a little difficult.: pressing 1 and the mouse and then jump, I felt I needed a third hand, ha ha. You put a lot of content into it. Nice project.

Developer

Thanks for giving it a shot!

Very nice! I can tell that this game was made with care and love :) I liked the story and the game feels nice to play.  The other comments already mentioned the spiderweb-bug. It would be great if u could update after the jam. :) Art is simple but fitting.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! I definitely plan to update the game after the jam to fix all of the bugs and add things I didn't have time to finish like a lava themed level and hand drawn character sprites that would appear during dialogue.

Thanks for giving my game a shot!

Submitted(+1)

Loved the story at the start. I think it need some feed back but overall was fun to play.

Also, I think there is some bug on the first spider web, got stuck at the room end had to start over.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for giving my game a shot! And about the bug, I just checked it out and, unfortunately, yeah, there's a bug. (SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T PLAY) I forgot to assign one object in the big spider's script. And the patch period is already over...Dang it... Well, just try to not get caught and all will be fine XD
