Woah! That was actually intense when the cookies started moving around :O

Quite relaxing actually! :D

Well done!

Rushed rating your game before the deadline! I hope you get to 20 ratings soon!

I really like the colours of this game.  I think the sprites are cute. They gave me the feeling of Candyland.

(๑˘︶˘๑)

I couldn't kill the Calico cat (How could I?!) Perhaps, besides cookies, player can also regain life?

Minor feedback in the tutorial scene. I had to go back and forth to read the instructions since they're quite long.

Overall, well done! Will try again later, but had to rush rating before the rating closes. All the best!

7 humans?! How y'all manage to communicate so well and create this amazing game?!

w(°o°)w

Everything is so well-done but my absolute favourite are the graphics. I love all the tiny details! The mini-camera in front, the rapid chats, the sticky note as instructions. Amazing job!

It was hard to drive when you're near the tornado but I guess that make sense in real life. Perhaps some feedback that you're dangerously too close would be nice (like strong static sound or strong wind sound)

Short yet straight-forward. Perfect for a game jam!

This is actually fun (no offense, Jeremy)! I definitely met some Jeremies in my life (I could be one, too!)

Great job! Love the art and the music is cozy too :3

Woah! This is actually clever! I enjoyed the sound effects and the drawings

( ◕▿◕ )

I felt the risk of jumping into platforms knowing some of them are "fake". I had to use my head to check. Literally. I had to bounce up just to check if there's collision or not

(」°ロ°)」

Man, that is quite a title!

(><)

Your game made me crave for macarons and baked goods…

This is the third time in this game jam that playing cards got me bamboozled and I ended up losing my life. Not even the biscuit was worth it :( Give me back my watch!

Lesson learned: Don’t gamble.

Voice acting was cool. The visuals were unnerving, adding to the ambience of the game. Perhaps you can turn it into a Visual Novel with the story you already plotted :)

I had to look for the song: Mysterious Pocket

The concept is cute, although I wasn’t sure if I was actually “losing” since my biscuit number still goes up even when the pocket tears open. It was fun patting the pockets, for some reason.

(っ˘ω˘ς )

Are those legs? On a cookie?!

I feel like with more time, this game can be polished but you did well for a one-week development. I hope you and your friend enjoyed making the game together! Keep up and join more jams to keep your motivation :)

Oh wow!

This looks beautiful. If only our PC could actually behold this beauty.

( ̄ω ̄; )

I had to outsource and ask my partner to play it (I get motion sickness when playing first person games) and same with his computer, movement isn't smooth but when we do pause and just look at the environment, it really looks highly-defined and the ambience is amazing.

I was honestly waiting for some alien jump scare somewhere. Like it would be a risk to just go into the rooms. The meeting room gave me a mini-heart attack while I was watching my partner because I honestly thought someone was inside. We were using the flashlight then the alarm went off so it added to the horror, suspense feel.

Great work!

ヽ(o^▽^o)ノ

You can improve the game by probably introducing the mechanics through a dialogue or voice-over of a companion (could be your captain, your co-worker or an AI assistant)

I rated your game :D

It's similar to ours (darkness and light theme). I hope you give it a try:

https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-14/rate/3846516

This has really great potential!

Not sure if it's my computer or it's an intended mechanic but the light was too slow to control. In the Normal Mode, I managed to scare away a few cockroaches but there was no indicator to let me know what I needed to do to go to the next level (e.g. scared away a number of cockroaches or kept the biscuit safe for a period of time)

I tried the Infinite Mode, but only lasted no more than 15 seconds. Man, those bugs are sneaky.

It might also be helpful to show where the cookies are at the beginning. I couldn't determine which areas I had to protect from the bugs.

But man.. You made this all by yourself. That's awesome! Keep up the good work :D

Woah! That's an interesting bug (pun intended, I guess)!

(¬‿¬ )

This is a clever concept :O

The dungeon was too unforgiving, though. It was too hard to get gems and sustain the business.

Perhaps you can introduce the traps and enemies slowly as you go deeper into the dungeons to find more gems. I had too many lasers and I am not sure how to get past them at all. Is the dungeon perhaps generated every time?

You guys did awesome for a one-week game! Great work!

Same boat :(

I'll rate yours and hopefully you'll get the needed 20 ratings :3

If you're interested, here's our game:

https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-14/rate/3846516

(Make sure you keep breathing or you'll risk moving around in the dark!)

<( ̄︶ ̄)>

That was fun. My computer was a bit slow, though but I managed to get paintings and evade the security people and cameras (maybe the delay actually helped?)

That's awesome that you made everything! Well done!

୧((#Φ益Φ#))୨

BAAH! BEEENTOOO!

This was actually quite fun. Erratic, but definitely enjoyed it! My strategy was to camp and wait for the bento, but I guess the others had the same idea (?) because I swear they also started camping where I was!

Also, are they wearing skates or something? It was so hard to control my movement with how fast I was going (or maybe adrenaline is just too high when bento is in the mix)

Your art reminded me of the Danganronpa game and I kinda wanna play it again now

(´ ∀ ` )

Well done, all five of you!

Sorry it took long for me to give feedback. Life has been hectic but I'm back to play games!

╰(▔∀▔)╯

First off:

You managed to make this game.. BY YOURSELF.. IN JUST ONE WEEK! Looking at your account, this is also your first game here in Itch.io. So bravo to you!

Now about the game:

  • I did end up downloading the game since it wouldn't load in the browser. Is it because of the 3D assets?
  • Boney Mags. Hehe..
  • I am not sure if it's a bug but when a rock is being fired on then you switch to a different rock (still holding left-click) it's the first rock that gets blown away. Used this "feature" to destroy the big rocks pretty quickly :P
  • I am an unstable person so I kept my instability high. Muwahahaha.. (Boney Mags wasn't happy with my performance though)
  • I think movement can be improved? It was weird how I could go through some rocks but other rocks are locked in their position and I can't even push them away D:
  • I opened the game for hours while I was cleaning because the music was my jam!

Oh, that is a good scenario to bring up. I did try to rush a Main Menu screen but with only 4 hours left till submission, we decided against it.

But you're right! Having the ability to restart the game in your own time (not only when your health reaches zero) makes so much sense!

Thank you for trying out our game!

(°◡°♡)

I will be reviewing games later when I'm finished with my outside-dev life and I'll make sure to play your game :3

(1 edit)

(。•́︿•̀。)
I'm sorry, noraic. If it isn't much trouble, can you let me know if you played in a PC or laptop, mouse or touchpad, and which browser you used? I did get some feedback (from family and friends) that the breathing mechanic is quite hard to grasp and it's something I will re-designed when I update the game.

Thank you for trying the game still.

(⌒_⌒;)

I shall play your game later when I get home!

I will be honest. It was actually my partner who risked it for the biscuit.

( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ

I have this condition where if I player first-person perspective games, my head spins a.k.a. Simulator Sickness.

According to my partner:

  • The maze was hard to navigate so a few visual cues might help (e.g. footprints to show where the player has been)
  • There is a chance of not getting into the bakery if you messed up the boxes (e.g. the box can't be pushed away from the wall)

According to me:

  • I love the colours! They look so playful. But then, when I realised there's nobody around, it seemed creepily too happy.
  • This is an amazing progress for a one-man team, so well done! You can try to retro-fit the game into a mischievous racoon game similar to the game "Untitled Goose Game". Going into people's house and rummaging through their garbage cans.

All the best!

( ´ ∀ `)ノ~ ♡

The beginning dialogue was interesting. A mighty, golden biscuit in a forgotten civilization with an archeologist willing to risk it all.

ヾ(・ω・)

The Escape menu is making me feel guilty, but I suck at playing platformer games and I have made the archeologist die several times already..

。゚(。ノωヽ。)゚。

so I guess your game will stay in my computer now.

That is very kind of you..

( ´ ꒳ ` ) ♡

Not sure our game is worth being called "unearthed gem" but I hope you give it a try.

NOOOOO...

I am having PTSD playing this... It's like playing Cat Mario but cookies.

Well done! This was fun. I am definitely not angry.

Woah! This is visually appealing...

( 〃▽〃)

It's a great strategy game and the froggies look so cute.

I always bring home my babies, though. Maternal instincts kicking in.

(´ ∀ ` )

No gambling. But you do need to maintain your breathing :P

Will play and rate your game shortly :3

Thank you for playing and for the kind feedback!

ヽ(o^▽^o)ノ

I did consider making the player faster when they are in full health. But the idea came when there was only two hours left to submit and we were having issues.

( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ

But you're right, I think faster movement would be a good improvement.

This comment makes me happy!

(*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡

The intention I had when developing the game is to help people become conscious with their breathing. Deep, conscious breathing reduce stress. With how the world is right now, I think we need some time to pause and just be.

Thank you so much for giving my game a try and for your kind feedback. Really appreciate it ♡

In the first stages, I did nudge the probability so that the player almost always gets a heal from being damaged from the previous level. But after the level "Enemy" the buttons are pretty much random, so you are indeed lucky!

Yeah... The brightness thingy was because I did not understand Godot's 2D lighting system. I think I'll use a Clipping mask or convert it to a 2.5D game instead :P

Thank you for playing and for your thoughtful feedback!

(´。• ᵕ •。`) ♡

BETRAYAL!

(ノಥ益ಥ)ノ

But for Rolo, I forgive you.

ヽ( ̄ω ̄)

(1 edit)
Your mission is clear: protect your as he gather crops

Yes, I shall protect my.. Huh.. Wha? (I am assuming I am supposed to protect my farmer :P)

This was fun! On the first play I did not notice the arrow indicated the direction. My second play, I was able to defeat many ninjas but completely forgot the farmer was supposed to plant crops.

(ᗒᗣᗕ)՞

An awesome feature you can add are combos—the more ninjas you hit before you lose momentum, the higher the score. You can add some visual cues for the combos, too!

I was so proud of myself when I (accidentally, not skillfully) hit four enemies in one go. Not so proud when I completely forgot about the farmer.. But hey! I DID protect him in the end, didn't I?

Gambling AND platform gaming! Two things I'm definitely not good at...

I knew I wouldn't last past 2 levels.

(>m<)

But it is quite an innovative game, though! Maybe I'll make my partner play it instead to give you a fair rating.

Oooh... Honest feedback would be nice :3

Will play your game, too!

Here's a synopsis of our entry:

Breath-taking Risktaking is an atmospheric, top-down 2d game. It is a visualized game depicting life and taking risks. You need to maintain your light through breathing. As you breathe, you need to find the exit. While you find the exit, you can trigger consequences (some can help, some can hurt, some can interrupt, some don't work). Look for notes, secrets, and maybe a biscuit!

Please let us know what you think!

I love/hate horror games (It's complex!) and my partner did tell me to make it into a top-down 2D Slenderman-like game, but I wasn't sure I could pull it off.

But you know what? I might give it a horror version and release it for Halloween.

ψ( ` ∇ ´ )ψ

I am sooo interested in one of your games (the Trastorno) but I don't speak Spanish, unfortunately. I followed you in case you give it an English-translated version.

( ´ ꒳ ` )

Today I learned that cats have nine lives, but rats just one. I only needed one more cheese and I died.

☆(#××)

Perhaps adding a "lives" system will make the game more forgiving to people like me who are not used to platformer games.

(o´▽`o)ノ

(I am jamming to the background music as I am writing this. It's catchy!)

Other villagers be like...

┬┴┬┴┤(・_├┬┴┬┴

I am not very good with dodging games but yours was actually easy to follow. Though there was a time when I was dodging a troll's attack but I launched myself to another troll's attack. So I guess I still have a lot to learn about dodging.

ヾ( `ー´)シ

I had fun playing it! Well done! Mr. Isky deserves lots of biscuits from those villagers!

These game jams are amazing in motivating people to finish a project, polished or not, in such a short time. But the time limit is a double-edged sword, because you need to scrap ideas/features to prioritise developing a playable game.

If only Brackeys host a Throwback Game Jam so developers are incentivised to continue polishing their games and presenting it again.

Wait. That's not a bad idea, actually!

ヽ(°〇°)ノ

I haven't personally run into circular dependencies in Godot yet, but in a way that makes me even more concerned because I know they've gotta hit someday

For your future reference:

If you have an exported custom property that accepts a PackedScene that represents the next scene of your game level and you wish to go back to the beginning scene when you finish the last scene, don't use your beginning scene for the custom property. That creates a circular dependency (Haha.. Writing this now, that should have been obvious!)

And yes! Git! Git is my favorite thing in the world, Git is great, Git saves lives!

When I taught my students Git, I told them it would save them a LOT of time to learn it now. But of course, I get zipped projects called "Final final project - Final" at the end of the year and I know those students won't be taking programming as a career.

(⇀‸↼‶)

I *have* run into really weird 2D lighting issues in Godot though, I think that particular chunk of the engine has not received proper love over the year, it all felt kinda broken and backwards when I used it in the past. I think a lot of people completely disregard it and program their own 2D lighting because it's so bad.

Imma be honest.. I am traumatised by Godot's 2D lighting that I am now gonna learn 3D just in case I need to make a game with lighting.

When I was still in college I had a class where we had to make a game for a "client" aka another student with an idea. Our client wanted us to make a relaxation game, with breathing exercises and 6 different mini-games to help with different negative emotions. But the kicker is we had to program the whole thing from scratch in Java with no game framework! This game really reminded me of working on that project, but I'm just rambling lol.

You saying "Java" made me guesstimate your age, because Java seems like an ancient language with other languages being the preferred choice. But then, when I was in college, we had to code using C.

(* ̄▽ ̄)b

And I am a rambler, too. So no worries!

Anyway, I really liked your game! I struggled a bit at first understanding what was going on because the mouse indicator didn't show up until screen 2, but it was fine from there!

Really appreciate you taking the time to be trolled play our game. And remember, breathe and take risks!
