How does the game fit the theme?
A stranger in a pub invites the protagonist to risk it for the biscuit in a three round card game. With each round, the stakes rise until the biscuits themselves are pushed across the table. The player has one choice - to eat them or refuse.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I edited stock photography for the visuals, recorded the speech audio myself and edited it in CapCut using voice effects, and used free-licence sound effects and music from Pixabay. All other writing, design, editing and implementation were created during the jam.

This is the third time in this game jam that playing cards got me bamboozled and I ended up losing my life. Not even the biscuit was worth it :( Give me back my watch!

Lesson learned: Don’t gamble.

Voice acting was cool. The visuals were unnerving, adding to the ambience of the game. Perhaps you can turn it into a Visual Novel with the story you already plotted :)

Definitely a hard lesson about gambling! Glad the atmosphere and voices worked. Yes maybe one day I could expand it. I definitely wanted a proper card playing mechanic but I just didn't have the time to implement it in this version. Thanks so much for playing!

Nearly no gameplay, but great story and great voice over. Well done.

Thank you! I knew joining the jam midway through meant it would be tight, so it definitely ended up becoming more of a short story experience than a game - but I just couldn’t resist the theme! Really glad the story and voices worked.

Very short but good story. I also loved the voice acting.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing. I'm glad the voice acting worked out, I think I enjoyed doing that part the most!

Fun and interesting story, perfectly paced.  Music, fx, writing, visuals  were great,  all cohesive.  Well done!  Only other comment I have is that to me the title page does not quite match the tone of the game.

Thanks so much for playing and for your feedback. You’re right about the title screen - I rushed that part to get the game finished in time, so it’s definitely something I’d like to revisit after the jam to bring it more in line with the tone of the story. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

I liked how fast it got to an interesting part.
