Fun game. I did not like the art assets, but thats just taste I guess.
I really liked the sprites! The gameplay is fun, although it's quite simple and you can win pretty easily. As a minor issue, the font is kind of hard to read. It's an enjoyable game. good job!
Y do credits pop up when we lose, and we have to read the dialogue each time we want to play, maybe add a skip button for both.
Also the font is kinda hard to read.
Other than that, it's a great game, nice idea and visuals. Keep up the good work.
Yes would be a good adición. (You can make dialog go faster by pressing the accept buttons)
Aside from the font, which was a challenge to read, the feel and flavor of the UI and artwork was excellent. The turn-based combat was also well-executed!
Rare to see people make a JRPG in a game jam, and it works. Well done.
The font is a bit hard to read.
Hey! Incredibly, you worked on a turn-based system, and it really worked without glitches for me. awesome
I really struggled with the font, had to zoom way in to read it at all, and even then I’m confused, the more we attack the less damage the enemy does it sounded like it said, but every time I’m attacking I see popups like “ATK * 1.2” or whatever which implies the opposite? So I’m left utterly confused about what you’re supposed to do, kill him and then get the biscuit? Send the pirate to get the biscuit right away to avoid attacking too much because he has to attack every turn and the other two don’t? If the popups are wrong/I’m reading them wrong and it is more damage dealt = less damage taken that definitely did not feel to be the case in any of the attempts I had, seemed hopeless to win.
I liked the idea though, solving RPG combat puzzles is interesting to me, just wish it communicated what was happening better…
Well, maybe is a little confusing and the font doesn't help.
Each turn, if you don't attack at all, the boss will get a x1.5 ATK. The more damage you make to the boss, the lower the multiplier will be.
You are supposed to attack as much as you can with the pirate, heal in every turn with the Sea Hag and risk for the biscuit with the fisherman (since has more DEF and an ability to receive less damage), but if you only do that, you won't be able to make it. You need to do some things before to be able to survive for 6 rounds.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll give it another go <3
Fun game. Font is hard to understand, but I really like the visual art and effects (on the menu screen and the transitions between scenes). Nice concept for a RPG fight that really fits the theme.
Music, art style, post-processing effect in menu is nice. Unfortunately, i just can't play due to font, such pain for my eyes.
Memorable visuals and interesting challenge! I'd definitely like to see where this concept goes!
It worked really well with the nice art design and all the other elements. They also picked the right kind of music.
Overall, great game design choices!
The game looks really cool, but i'm dyslexic and had a really hard time reading the fonts. I would love to of been able to play in the future if maybe you added the ability to change fonts. Thank you for posting and letting us all play. ^-^
Really cool mechanics! I like turn-based combat, but this is definitely a new form of it. Inspired me a lot! Awesome entry!
It was tough, but in a really good way super engaging! The art style and music were right up my alley; absolutely loved them. Thanks!
The font is hard to read, but is a nice game! I really like the enemy sprite, It's so charismatic haha
Nice little RPG. It took me a few tries to beat it, but it was very satisfying to finally win!
Keep up the good work!
The font was difficult lol, but the art was otherwise great. The game also pretty hard, or maybe I am bad haha
For me i loved the pixel art and music, the gameplay was a bit clunky for me im not used to rpg very much i played again and won after i got the hang of it, Great work
I like the game, it was a nice and short rpg :)
The win condition is great, it makes the game fit with the theme of the jam, also makes me feel that I have to risk everything and if something goes bad, it’s game over haha
I like the little lore, I played it twice to see both endings and my first time I got the bad one, almost I got a win but I used the poison skill, the monster knocked out the fisherman and from there was a quick game over. I think the only thing I would like to see here is a different end screen just to reinforce that you won the game
The art is good, I know the fisherman is a person but when I played, at times I saw it as a duck haha. I think my favorite is the fish bones at the end for how cool it looks. The gameplay is straightforward, which I like, it can be played with no problem even if you don’t read the detailed description of the skills in the game page.
I think the thing I would add here is a restart button, maybe, in case someone wants to play more, they don’t have to wait to get the game over to restart the game and have another quick chance to beat the monster
Also the utility of each character is nice and defined, makes a good party to use and it’s nice to see the monster hits hard and isn’t just a weak enemy. The poison is great because the turn you use it, the monster will hit harder in exchange of being slower the next few turns and I like this mechanic of the enemy doing less damage if you hit it, my favorite skill is the division of damage within the party members
Happy to be able to play this game, nice entry :)
Wow, it makes me so happy that you played to get both endings.
We will take your considerations on count on the post-jam.
Really lovely pixel arts, I didn't managed to win but a puzzly boss fight rpg game sound like a good idea!
