it was addictive but there is a annoying bug, when a enemy is dead it's collider still can destroy bullet for a few seconds

How does the game fit the theme?
The deeper you mine, the richer the rewards but the tougher the monsters, and the greater the risk of losing everything.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Played for like almost an hour and didn’t even notice. Good job, very fun game.
AMAZING GAME! It took a little time but I was finally able to beat it! :)
I really dig this game 😜 Fits the theme so well! Kept greeding for more ore before going back up and getting killed by the darn spiders. 🥺 Will definitely keep playing this until I reach the bottom! Good Job. 💎
I'm really digging this (hah! get it?) It's so addictive! I played for more than I care to admit and maxed out everything. It was lagging a few times, but that's just how jams games are suppose to be, right. I'm really excited to see where you will take this - if you continue the development. 10/10!
Really fun game. Just wish my projectiles would cancel out the ones from the spiders.
It was really fun for the first three layer, but then the lack of upgrades made the game too slow compared to the first half. Just add 2-3 more levels for the upgrade.
For me this is one of the game which I would play if there's an extended version.
That is a really fun game loop and I could see myself playing an expended version of it! Really nice work! The tension when the countdown starts to return to the surface is really cool.
I’m really happy you enjoyed the game! We’ve been thinking about making a more polished version with a lot more content, and maybe even releasing it on Steam. If that happens one day, I’ll be sure to let you know :)
I’m glad you felt that tension during the countdown that was exactly the plan!
Thank you so much for playing <3
I liked it, I made it to the last layer. It’s not as easy as it looks, but it was a fun experience. Some constructive things I would’ve liked:
-
An SFX volume controller for the bullets (the shot sound gets tiring).
-
Background music while drilling.
-
An animation at the tip of the drill.
Put in the description that with right click you shoot (I hadn’t noticed that until 10 minutes in, hahaha).
But I love drilling, and the game hooks you so easily! Great job guys!
I can totally understand that the bullet sound gets tiring. I tried adding some random pitch variation to make it less repetitive, but it’s not a perfect solution. I haven’t found a better shooting sound yet.
We actually started working on the drill tip animation but didn’t manage to finish it. We’re still pretty new to pixel art, and animations are a whole other challenge.
I’m so happy you enjoyed our game! Thank you so much for the feedback :)
Wow I had fun playing this. I love digging dirt... I love getting ore... I love buying upgrades! Super fun! It might seem like running from those darn cave bugs and just getting loot is a good idea but o man you better watch out for the horde that lurks behind you hahaha. Great job y'all a real fun one.
I did not expect to get so hooked on this game...
each upgrade felt cool and the progression was actually really well planned out, it felt like there was a perfect balance with how long it would take to get the money and then how fast i could actually use it on something
didn't experience any bugs but it did get a bit laggy because i AFK farmed a layer for a bit... there were a lot of enemies
really cool game :3
I’m glad you liked the game and got hooked on it!
Yeah, I didn’t put a cap on the number of enemies that can spawn, so if you kite them for too long, a lot of them can end up following you from afar. And if they all shoot at the same time, like in your screenshot, it can create tons of projectiles.
Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback! <3
Big drill is a specific gaming power fantasy I don't get to engage in very often. I always appreciate when you can really feel upgrades rather than just being +10% or so. Really good risk/reward mechanic because I have bad judgement and I kept dying constantly trying and failing to get a big haul.
I wanted to make different sprites for the drill to show the evolution of the upgrades, but we didn’t have time to do it, so we stuck with just one sprite that doesn’t change. It would definitely be a great addition to the game.
And yes, the game is really punishing at the beginning if you go too deep but it gets easier later on.
Thank you for playing and for your feedback ! :)
Really well polished game, I see a massive improvement in your work, well done!
The progression system has just the right pacing to make you feel like you're getting stronger and ready to venture into more dangerous depths without making things unfold too fast or painfully slow. I just wish it was possible to end the expedition by actually returning to the surface, instead of having to do the 30s capsule sequence even when you're practically right at the top, but it's not that much of an issue.
Keep up the good work!
Oh, I’m so happy to see your comment on my game! I really loved your game in the gmtk game jam, and I’ll make sure to try your game from this jam when I have some free time.
Thank you so much for saying there’s an improvement. You can’t imagine how much that means to me.
I understand that waiting 30 seconds can be a bit annoying if you’re already at the surface. My idea was that the deeper you go, the more you’d have to deal with that as part of the “risk” theme. But I couldn’t quite find a good way to prevent players from just going back to the surface.
Thank you so, so much for playing my game in this jam as well! I hope to see you in future jams too :)
No problem, one oughts to state the truth after all ;)
I'm equally glad to see you in this jam too!
Hope you'll enjoy my game, this time I went with a platformer that also focuses mainly on its plot because the curse of not being able to make something without a story still haunts me XD
And as for the future jams... I'll going to participate in the patch notes jam that starts in about 10days. Hopefully I'll see you there
Finally finished the game
Really well balanced and well made
Could be cool if you could also return to the surface to exit faster, maybe some new variations of enemies and weapon upgrades that would make them more meaningful later game. Great game.
Very very very good game. I got addicted lol. This is the game I played for the longest in this jam so far, I played for nearly an hour. I got every upgrade, it was very satisfying to just point the drill downward and sit back and watch the drill go all the way down by itself. Fits the theme really well as well.
The one very tiny complaint I have is that the spiders take a little time to die, and they soak up some extra bullets that were meant for spiders behind them in the process. This can make it feel a bit unfair when there is a whole bunch tailing you in a single file.
Anyway, absolutely loved it! I would even pay for a full version!
Thank you so much, I’m really happy you enjoyed the game that much! And congrats on making it all the way to the end!
I made the spiders not disappear immediately so you can see them flash red as feedback that you hit them, instead of just vanishing. That’s why they take a little time to disappear. But I forgot to disable their collision during that moment, which should fix the issue.
I might make a more polished version with a lot more content and release it on Steam. If I do, I’ll be sure to share the link with you :)
I really liked the gameplay except for the spiders being able to shoot. Since you can't dodge or cancel out the projectiles in any way, you are basically guaranteed to get hit if a spider is on screen. Even near the surface, sometimes like 5 spiders would just show up at once, and they can basically guaranteed kill you because you can't do anything once the projectiles are fired. I think it would make more sense for them to just run at you and you have to shoot them before they collide with you. Projectiles could work too, but either needs to be a way to mitigate them, or just better balance in the early stages, as they feel like a later game level challenge. Either way I had fun, great job for a weeks work!
I understand that it can feel frustrating. Right now, the only way to stop them from shooting is to take them out before they settle, but I agree that this can be tough in the early game. My original idea was to include both close-range and long-range enemies, but I couldn’t quite find a fun way to make the close-range ones work. I also had the idea of adding a forcefield or something similar to defend against projectiles, but unfortunately I didn’t have time to implement it.
Thank you so much for your feedback! :)

I maybe liked game to much😅. Also I got to 1000m.
