Upgrading and firing at astreroids was quite fun.

Some meteors seemed invincible though? Also there was an issue with not being able to clear a line with Pistol or Minigun when too many piled up at a row. Other than that, really quite a blast. Especially since some of them were armed and you had to dodge around. Expand on the concept more, I think it'd made for a nice arcade game.

An update with fixes and more content is on its way. Thank you so much for playing!

I love what is here! I just wanted more! More upgrades, builds, enemies, ect.. But what is here was really fun. Thanks for making this!

Thank you for playing!!!

Nice visuals, nice concept, music, gameplay... Everything and looks feels awesome! I like how the helmet shows how many hps you have left, and the evolving powerups are a nice touch too. There was a few glitchy asteroids (indestructible and didn't hurt the cat) but it's not game breaking or annoying.

I wonder if my cat does any of this while I sleep though...

Developer(+1)

Of course your cat goes on space adventures!
The question is... what weapon does he choose, and why is it always Spread?

Thank you for playing!

this is really fun and simple! makes me wish i had prioritized adding powerups in my game lol. nice visuals and music as well!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words!

Fun short and sweet game with some very charming graphics! I liked the weapon system, though it seems a bit daunting to play without using the spread shot at some parts. Would love to see the post-jam version!

Developer(+1)

It'll be a bit challenging to find free time to update the game, but I'll get there eventually.

Thank you so much for playing!!

Submitted(+1)

yeah man, thats a lot of fun on playin it, i like it.

Thanks for playing!!

This was fun. I absolutely adored the cat's helmet being the health meter. I am proud to say I found the space milk. Excellent job!

Developer(+1)

I was going through last year's game source, trying to find how I solved the health UI. At some point I realized not only was it faster to fire up Aseprite and draw damage sprites, but it also resulted in a cleaner look for the game.

Thank you so much for playing!

Very fun, and great aesthetic! I enjoyed getting to mix and match the weapons, I was worried I’d be locked into my first choice. There was one asteroid which didn’t seem to collide with any of my weapons but apart from that it was a really enjoyable experience, well done!

Developer(+1)

That pesky non-colliding asteroid... each time I wanted to repro that issue it would just not happen. And when someone else tried the build, it did show up... that bug is mocking me.

Thank you so much for playing and for the kind words!

Submitted(+1)

I replayed it a few times and managed to relatively consistently reproduce the bug. It seems to happen when there’s too many asteroids on the screen and they start spawning on top of each other. If you pick the pistol from the first and second box, and then stay close to the bottom of the screen, only shooting enough to defend yourself, then eventually you’ll get a few non-colliders, especially when the first few gun asteroids spawn. Not sure why it’s happening, but might be something to do with how the asteroids push themselves apart while also being clamped within the play area. Also, I just discovered the palette swap in the menu, really nice for switching things up between runs!

Developer(+1)

Ooooh that might be it. When they push each other, they might be also shifting their Z position, and eventually getting out of the way of projectiles. You may have saved me from hours of debugging headaches, thank you so much!!!

Submitted(+1)

No problem, I’ve ran into similar issues in the past when making 2D games but working with 3D transforms. Had a lot of trouble with sprites disappearing beneath the background or above the camera Z-layer because I was just taking the vector between two objects, normalising it, and flipping it, without realising it was slowly shifting their Z position too. Glad I could help though, hopefully you get it fixed for the post-jam release!

The gameplay is pretty good and have a lot of potential.

any plans to develop it further?

Developer(+1)

Yes, the original idea included a lot more weapons and enemies, but had to be cut. I plan to work on a post-jam update to add that variety, eventually. Thanks for playing!!

Submitted(+1)

The game is really very fun, as simple as it is, it is more addictive than it seems, I found myself retrying it more than 4 times after finishing the game.

Developer

I found myself not being able to work on the game for most of the week, so I had to simplify everything to deliver something decent. Turns out simple is still fun.

Thanks for playing!

I love the art! Both the style and the color choice is really fun to look at. The gameplay was very simple but surprisingly challenging too. Nicely done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words!

This plays really well!  It was fun to try different weapon combos.  A little more variation in obstacles would be cool.

Developer

I'll invest in variety for a post jam update. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! Nice graphics and music, i like that there's some variation in the asteroids. Had to play it through twice to see if i could keep upgrading the same weapon, and boy could i. It's solid, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing!

Very smooth and fund little shooter. The sprites are delightfully huge, the music is catchy, and the visual design is clear (thanks for pointing out the player character's hit box in the tutorial screen, btw).

In the spirit of constructive feedback, it would be fun to have more types of enemies, besides just asteroids.

Developer(+1)

I had to cut back on a lot of content, including enemy types due to time constrains. But there's plans for a post jam update.

Thanks for the feedback!

Got that legendary space milk! 😋

Developer(+1)

Congratulations! 🌌🥛

Submitted(+1)

Really enjoyed this! not sure if it was the colour pallette, sprites or mechanics but had such a nice feel to it!

Developer(+1)

Happy to make you feel good! Thank you for playing!

Great lil schmup with upgrade mechanics and satisfying juice. Great job!!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!

Cute, fun and polished!

Developer

Thank you!!

I was not expecting such a hooky gameplay loop :D I really like that rogue-lite element "choose your upgrade" feeling in this game. The way the asteroids appear on screen is deceptive, and got deadly way quicker than expected xD fun game

Developer(+1)

There are plans to expand the rogue-liteness in a post jam update, and maybe something else to blow up beside space rocks.

Thanks for playing!
