Nice work there ! Theme fits well, and it is fun to move the space ship within the environment. Congrats :)

Developer

Thank you!

cool space shooter. reminds me of the x wing in star wars.

I like this. The clone ships are a neat idea. My clones are better pilots than me. The controls are a little bit weird and it is hard to tell if you are actually hitting a turret.

Developer

Thanks! I think more UI would have made the controls a little more intuitive for anyone not used to the genre but I underestimated how long everything would take. Same deal with the damage feedback.

Nicely done!

Some random thoughts:

  • The controls feel very much in line with one of the best spaceship games I've ever played, "Freelancer". It's an oldie, and weirdly enough doesn't seem to on steam or gog, but worth a look for extra inspiration :D.
  • I had a weird issue in which the space stations would disappear if I went a bit far from them to try to make a U-turn and come back. I kept looking for them, but I couldn't see them, not sure if I was just being dumb though.
  • I wasn't very sure what exactly I had to shoot at. May be having a small sound effect that triggers when you hit something that can be damaged may help?

This is a fun game, nicely done!

Developer(+1)

Haha, Freelancer was my main inspiration so thank you, it's a travesty that there isn't even a gog version!

I tried re-creating your bug by flying off to the planet and turning around but they were still there so I'm not sure what could have happened. The camera far clip is set to 6k I think, so that's a mystery to me!

I did plan to have hit feedback on enemies and the player but just ran out of time. Thanks again!

really nice game, I had so much fun playing it, well done

Developer

Thank you! :)

Nice game! It was cool seeing my army of clone ships gradually growing. One thing to mention is it might be nice to have more visual feedback when hitting a valid target - I wasn't sure if I was hitting correctly or doing damage for the first couple of minutes. But overall great job and congrats on your first game jam submission 😎

Developer

Thanks!

The VFX for respawning/creating a clone is awesome, and the skybox is really immersive. Very cool how the clones started acting on their own too.

Developer

Thank you!

Nice music, i had trobule with the controlls but maybe that is just me, cool entry. Feel free to check out my game

Submitted(+1)

I must admit, I'm normally not a big fan of space shooter games, but I really enjoyed this entry. The visuals and sound were very good and it did a good job immersing me into the experience. Well done!

Developer

Thank you, that means a lot. As I said to someone earlier, if you liked this, check out 'Freelancer' some time as that was my main inspiration - you might like it! :)

Excellent! One the best games I've played so far in this amazing sea of game submissions.

Got a real X-Wing / Tie Fighter vibe - the early 90s boomer games + that Star Wars arcade machine from the late 90s. A lot of fun once the clones start taking care of business - nice one with the AI. Although at first I thought the cannons were infighting or by some miracle were firing towards each other (you do explain this in the game page text though, so it was just me being simple)

Really good, congrats.

Developer

Gosh that's nice of you to say, thank you. You're right to be confused about the clones though, I didn't really get to add the polish I'd hoped to. Anyway, thanks again!

Well done, space flight felt really nice and worked well. It wasn't clear when I was doing damage to the turrets, but I was pleasantly surprised to see my clones start helping out. Great work on this, and especially excellent for a first game jam entry!

Thank you :)

nice little space shooter, pretty fun. great work!

Submitted(+1)

Good game, everything works well. maybe something to work on in the future is some visual feedback on each hit of the turrets like a slight colour change or something.

Submitted(+1)

I'm not really a fan of shooting and ships games, but I did have fun playing this one :) nice job on the aesthetics and the music I liked them a lot!

Developer

That's great to hear, thank you! My main inspiration was 2003's Freelancer, so you might like it!

Submitted(+1)

Oh I didn't know about that game, I'll check it out, thanks!

I could just tell from the little gifs  that i'd love this. The manoeuvring is really fun and and the models are great. Sadly, I was playing this on my laptop which could barely handle it. Going to give it another go when I'm on my main PC.

Developer

Thank you! Sorry about the performance, It's probably due to my code :P

Submitted(+1)

I love the feel of the ship controls :D. Totalty feel bad ass zooming around.
Perhaps a bit of cinimachine, and some movement in the camera (dead zone etc) ,would have added to that even more.
Could do with a bit more visual feedback on the turrets being destroy or not, wasn't sure which one's i'd hit or not.
Really fun game! Well done!

Played and rated.

Great concept, it was pretty fun rolling around. The death mechanic makes it very fun and connected to the theme. I really liked the music! Great work overall it's pretty original :)

Would appreciate if you check out and rate our game as well: https://hadilepanda.itch.io/rise-of-necromancy

The first time I tried, I got motion sick. I got up and came back 5 minutes later to give it another go. I'm amazed at how much this reminds me of my days of playing Freelancer. The controls are really good and even though I get easily disoriented, it wasn't so bad with this game. I like the graphics and visual clarity. I also like the flavor text and bits of story you included. I'm actually looking forward to you expanding on this game a bit more.

Developer(+1)

Thank you, that's very kind. Freelancer was my main inspiration so I'm glad I was able to capture a little of that insanely good game haha!

I'm sorry to hear about the motion sickness! Was flying generally disorienting for you or was it more when you bumped into something (I've gotten a lot of feedback about the latter). It's honestly something I failed to consider so I'll have to be more mindful of it in future - I'm sure there are things I could do to mitigate that effect for people. Thanks very much for giving it another chance as well, I wouldn't have begrudged anyone for moving on from that immediately :)

Submitted(+1)

It was mostly when I bumped into things and got turned around but like I said, it wasn't really that bad :) You truly have something good here, and I would even say to take this prototype and turn it into a full-fledged game. I know that's what I would do, even if it would ultimately be extremely ambitious xD

Developer(+1)

I'd never go for the sort of scope some games... in development right now... are attempting, but I'd love to be able to make a full space sim one day :)
