Don't see many fast-paced puzzlers, the right amount of challenging, a solid entry all round.

Nice game, timing is a bit complex in some levels but overall is fun and combines the need to expand the problem from a route to a route+timing that makes things a lot more interesting. Nice soundtrack, fits the fast pace of the game. Congratz!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

Game like this one often worry me… I’m often very bad with puzzle games. I love this little game, though. The character movement is fun (love the trails) and the obstacles are challenging without being excessively so (barring any complaints I might have had with those rotating sticks of death). Over all, the game is bright, colorful, challenging, and, I’m not going to lie, I was sad when I beat it. I wanted more levels!

Excellent game!!

Developer

I’d love to make more levels if people enjoy the game! I’ve modified a bunch of levels in the post-jam version of the game, especially that “fire bar” level you mentioned!

Yes! I love me a puzzle game with serious gameplay. You have created something which has a genuine challenge that asks you to carefully think through your actions.

I do wonder what this would look like if you could lean into it being a puzzle game. I think it might be more satisfying to play.

This game has a mix of puzzle and action elements. Many levels require you to both think through the right set of moves and also time your actions so you don't hit the red balls. I found myself somewhat frustrated when I had figured out the puzzle side but just hadn't timed the action side correctly, and it would have been nice to just focus on the puzzle side.

I was considering making it more of a puzzle game, but deduced against it because I want to encourage a hybrid of puzzle solving and execution challenges. I know that won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I think that’s what makes this game stand out. That said; in the post-jam version, I’ve added some alternate paths to reduce the difficulty of certain execution-heavy levels.

Really fun game. I felt that the levels had a great mix of puzzle solving and reaction-based challenges. The twist a few levels in that introduces multiple characters is something that I absolutely did not expect and really added extra depth to some of the levels.

Developer

Glad you liked it! I'm really glad I overhauled the character controller to allow for multiple characters, those are my favorite puzzles in the game : )

Great puzzle game. simple, funny, fast levels, very pleasant to play.

Well done!  Really liked the art and the puzzles were really clever.  Having the player control multiple characters at once added a nice level of difficulty.  I also really liked that it wasn't purely puzzling, but that it was also relied on the player's reaction time and accuracy to complete the levels even if they had solved the puzzle.  Level of difficulty was nice and scaled in a satisfying.  This is a nice game regardless, but I happen to know the specific time constraints you had and that makes it all the more impressive.

Excellent game!  Loved the fading smears/trails, it really adds a sense of speed and fluidity, and gets rid of the very jaggy/sudden movement feeling from the raw pixels. There was only one level I had a lot of trouble with (10? 11? the one with the big spinning one in the center) but it's very cool you added a skip level button.  Anyway good gameplay, often this kind of game is more of a puzzle but I liked how much good reflexes were required here.

Developer

Level 11 would be the one you had trouble with, and yes, after seeing a few people try it on streams I realized that's much more difficult than intended. Glad you liked it overall!

Awesome game, great concept and better music!

I don't understand. What makes this game follow the theme ?

Submitted(+1)

first, themes were optional
second, teleportation

Developer (1 edit)

As TheStarkye pointed out, this game is using the “teleportation” theme. But keep in mind that others may not be using a theme at all and that shouldn’t impact your rating because the themes are optional; it’s hard enough to make the game’s resolution at just 64x64

Oh, right.

great music and sound effects. I also really liked the trail effect, it actually gives a good feeling of speed, and it makes me want to press the buttons even faster.

Really good job 😀

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you like the trail effect because it has such a hacky implementation; it even gets messed up by the existence of multiple player instances because they all subtract alpha from each other's trails :P

Submitted(+1)

wonderful take on the find the path style of game, really enjoyed the highspeed movement and careful timing required to get it just right, not too difficult or too easy!

Developer

Glad you thought so; I know the last two levels are a little brutal

Submitted(+1)

Loved this! It felt like the puzzley elements and twitch-action gameplay synthesized together super well, which I think is hard to pull off. I liked the little ghost trail effect, and how satisfying it was to zip around the levels pulling off tricky maneuvers

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear the two core elements clicked; I thought it was fun, but I wasn't 100% sure how they would synthesize for others since I was worried that anyone who wanted to play for the action would dislike the puzzles and anyone who wanted to play for the puzzles would dislike the action

Submitted(+1)

awesome concept! Loved the game!

Hello!  The art style is so cute, and well put together.  The game runs very smoothly.  How long did it take you to figure out and test the levels?  Seems like putting together puzzles like this, may be difficult.

Developer(+1)

I actually live-streamed (nearly) all 11.5 hours of development of the game, which you can check out here if you're interested (this was the stream day where I had most of the boring stuff figured out). As with most levels I create, I start with an idea of something I think might work, then play around in the game's sandbox. Sometimes I catch myself by surprise with what's possible! I started Saturday with only 3 levels made and developed the remaining 9 over the course of the 5.75 hour stream (along with lots of other improvements to the game engine). I was sharing builds as I went and was lucky to get feedback from those watching the stream.

Cool! Thanks for sharing I’ll check it out

I love how minimal yet polished this is. Fantastic core mechanic that you rinsed out, top stuff! Edit, finished it - perfect length. Loved this!

Submitted(+1)

Great level design! My favorites were the ones that involved multiple player characters that had to interact with each other in order to line up properly. Really well done!

Developer

Thank you; I'd love to make more levels that take advantage of that particular mechanic, but as you might expect, they're pretty tricky to design.

Submitted(+1)

The gameplay is really good as there are a good amount of game elements, like multiple players and moving death orbs, that work well together. I also like the music.

Developer

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, I really tried to go for quality over quantity when making the levels

Submitted(+1)

I absolutely love it! Simple but strong mechanics. Even when multiple characters are introduced or exits are moving, you get what you have to do. You did a lot with the animation! Even though the main character and the the rest a just big blocky things, you made them come to life!

But I have to agree with another users comment that this is all about the level design. You only have a handful of sprites in here but it's fun because you found new ways to keep using them.

Oh and the music is just superb. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I certainly had lots more ideas for new gameplay elements, and I feel like there is still further possibility space to make a few more levels with what I have. Perhaps I'll implement a few new ideas in a post-jam version.

Nice work, homie! A lot of fun in such a small package! Excellent music too!

Developer(+1)

Thank you; if you like the music, check out Mark Sparling; he has over 1337 songs from his Daily albums that can be used in Jam games (if you buy the track for $1)
