Did you work in a team?
No
Was the resolution a challenge?
Yes, had to try to make obstacles semi contained within the camera view, projectiles re-entering into frame were a design challenge.
What did you learn?
For future low-rez jams definitely easier to have a fixed camera view, the small resolution makes it harder for the player to telegraph moving objects.

The platforming is tight, with the addition of the double jump and the slam attack all the way through. The level design is nicely built around these mechanics, though I did have to read the description to try to figure out how the can shooting worked. Other than that, everything is readable and clear, the animations and sprites are fairly simple but everything pops visually.
Unfortunately I was also affected by the gravity bug, even using the windows executable. What I could see was very nice looking and the sounds/music were great.
If it helps for debugging:
Yeah its a frame rate issue in the code, I'll have to patch it post jam, thanks for bringing light to it.
The platforming mechanics in this are heaps solid. Had a lot of fun with this one!
Nice game! Had a fun playing this, all those obstacles, and bosses.
Yo this is radical, really good job teaching the player everything as they go. Could see myself coming back to this to work on my time, I'd be interested to see you expand on this concept some more.
I really really enjoyed this! I have to gush about some of the clever design in this game:
Right off the bat, the first time you run into the green laser scanners, the player doesn't really know if they'll hurt you or do something else. However the scanner is too tall so the player is forced to run through it, teaching them that A: it doesn't hurt you, and B it causes a bullet (which does hurt you) to be fired.
Immediately afterwards, you tell the player to 'shoot me' after explicitly saying 'there is no shoot button' so the player immediately knows to use the scanner to trigger a shot! Great bit of teaching!(As an aside, I think that green scanner-shoot mechanic has untapped potential! I expected the boss fights to involve jumping into green scanners to trigger shots at the bosses!).
The controls are so fluid. I think this is the tightest platformer I've played this entire jam. Also I love how the slam functions both as an offensive tool and as a tool to speedrun better (for example, if I'm about to miss a cycle for platforms while in mid-air, I can slam to the ground instead of waiting for myself to fall so I can set up another double jump).
The bosses are great too. They work well with the controls and the players moveset, and I like that you require the player to use the previously-learned skill in the subsequent boss. I also love the little music changes when you enter a boss battle.
I gave it a few tries and got my time down to 119 seconds! Awesome job!
Thanks for the great commentary, you definitely had your game design hat on when analyzing this, your observations are spot on. I do have to say though that the "no shoot button" message was added in post, definitely plans for adding an in game message for the post-jam.
The game controls well once you understand what the controls do. I never quite figured out how to shoot, so it would be great if there were a more detailed description of the controls on the game's page.
I had written on the game page "Arrow keys to move, note there is no shoot button", the barrels were for sure a section of concern, but I had hoped the player would be resourceful enough in figuring out how to work the environment to their advantage.
The gameplay of this game is fantastic! I really really liked it (188 seconds). It seems that there's a bug when you destroy the spaceship you always loose a life.
I want to double check, are you slamming the UFO when it's spinning it's lazer?
Yes!
Yeah, youre only supposed to slam when it says slam ie.lazer is off, probably better if I did something like a red aura to show that you can't hit it at all, thanks for the comment!
I couldn't get the gravity to work on firefox, edge, OR Chrome (I tried all three!)
Chrome seems to do the best and I got the highest, but I still couldn't reach the first platform.
If you add a windows download I'd love to try again!
That's so strange, I've just added a executable for windows, let me know how that goes!
I STILL can't get the gravity to work on my end, not even in the windows exe version :(
I restarted my computer even, no help!
Maybe its a frame rate issue? Are you multiplying the gravity value by delta in the editor?
I appreciate you putting out a windows export though!
Gravity is being incremented but it is in the delta field.
Thanks for persevering, not sure what this could be unfortunately.
Just discovered your answer is definitely the solution to the bug, will patch it post-jam.
296! Very nice! You did a very good job tuning the difficulty IMO, no crazy difficulty spikes but still challenging, but lots of checkpoints!! I thought the bosses were pretty cool (maybe a little too easy), they reminded me of the Koopa bosses from SMB. You did great with the resolution, things didn't feel cramped at all! Also gotta love a T-pose slam :)
Short but very complete experience! The action is fast-paced and enjoyable, and the graphics are very appealing. Having light metroidvania elements without the backtracking and exploration is interesting, as it adds some variation, even though the main aspect of unlocking areas is somewhat lost. The boss fights are super well designed. Overall, great entry, well done!
Made it in 151! Pretty fun, I liked the little boss battles, very creative!
Fun little speed running platform game! The controls feel great and the visuals are a great use of the resolution. Amazing job!
270 was my time! Neat entry! nice music and super simple but fun gameplay. Generous with the check points which is a very good thing. well done!
370, I’m little slow. Cool game, not too punishing and has no issues on my firefox. T-posing is awesome ;)
Played through the game in about 200 seconds, very nice! Would have loved some more effects / sound effects (for the slam for example, or some kind of explosion for the obstacles in the beginning). Nice simple platformer! :)
I'm stuck at the 1st level in the barrels where it says shoot me, where is the shoot button? it wasn't mentioned in the main page.
Yeah, I was afraid this wouldn't be obvious, I don't want to spoil the solution but perhaps you can use something else that shoots to your advantage.
Haha My bad, I figured it out. Nice Game and great pace. I really liked it.
