Did you work in a team?
I made the graphics and the programming, I was helped by Jonathan with the design and testing of the game!
Was the resolution a challenge?
It was quite difficult to fit an entire scrolling city into a 64x64 pixel box. I had to carefully calibrate the space occupied by the monster and the upper and lower bands of the news.
What did you learn?
I learned a lot about how you can animate such small pixel art sprites. I also learned a lot of new things about Godot!

Fun little game! I included it in my LowRezJam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Thanks! Nice video!
What an amazing idea! And so well executed. Holistic and concise, everything I look for in a game. You've created something unique and truly inspired, I love it.
A thought I had while playing was that a rare missile that could be 'lured' into the dino might be a neat way to add a little extra spice. It'd give the player a little more agency and could have an element of risk/reward to it.
Thanks! A lure missile could be interesting!
I love the animation and the color palette. The two-way element of dodging in front and behind is nice, and the way the helicopter lags behind the scrolling ever so slightly means to can't get complacent and find a safe place. The fireballs hitting the missiles is a nice touch as well. I'm not sure how the direction of the missiles and fireballs are chosen, it may be related to the coordinates of the helicopter, but it further emphasizes the theme of a big kaiju fight.
Thanks for the comment, the missiles have a set of pre-defined spawning points which are chosen randomly!
I loved the feel of this, especially the way it's framed as a news story. Nice and smooth to play with just the right amount of challenge. The only tiny criticism is that I'd prefer different music during play - something a bit more up tempo or menacing. Great job though!
There is a great taste in everything. Saving the world has never been so satisfying!
Very well done! This is an interesting concept: The idea of fighting a boss, but instead of actually damaging the boss, you dodge other entities that damage it, so getting hit yourself means you miss a hit on the boss. I don't think I've seen something like this before, very cool idea.
I also really loved the flavor text at the bottom. Short, quippy, and funny! I'm really glad you added a way to replenish health, that definitely helped given how much health the dino had.
You managed the space on the canvas really well too. The background fx, the news reel at the bottom, and the actual game contents were all readable despite the resolution restrictions. The only thing I might add is a little more 'juice' (maybe a little screenshake on the explosions when you or the dino is hit).
Great work!
Thanks for your comments!
I originally found out about this game jam on Reddit through this game. Absolutely awesome game, it's set my standard for this jam!
Wow, thank you! Your comment is really appreciated!
Very clever! Challenging but did not feel unbeatable. Cute story idea and graphics. Great job!
Nice game idea and good execution… the “breaking news” approach is quite original and I love the game-over.
Nice job! Fun and pretty! If I could change something I would make the movement more interesting
Thanks! You mean the animation of the helicopter?
I liked how simple yet effective it was so play! The concept was unique and worked very well.
great idea! a simple game with an addicting loop. my only critique would be maybe the difficulty can curve a bit more - other than that super stellar entry!
Thank you! About the difficulty you mean that it could be easier at the beginning and more difficult at the end?
correct! the difficulty could start low/slow and ramp up/speed up instead of staying consistent throughout.
There is a small ramp up when the monster drops under 25% of health, but it's a very subtle increase.
The art and the premise is great, the projectiles felt a bit on the difficult side especially since they came from both sides, some signalling beforehand would be good.
Yes, a danger signal would have been very useful!
Simple and fun. It fits into the limited space really nicely and I really like the news theming :)
I love the concept/design of this one, it fits the 64x64 size perfectly, is very readable and you instantly get what this game is about. You did a great job with all the UI, the news ticker, etc. It's hard! I tried twice and came close on the second attempt but failed :P
Thanks! I tried many different UIs before putting all pieces together :D
I had a lot of fun, and I think the difficulty is kind of perfect, there’s just enough time to react.
Also, I’ very happy to see so many games made with Godot!
Great concept, the gameplay is simple but it is incredible what you've made out of it :) The music and all the small details like the "go live button" instead of an ordinary start button create a great atmosphere. The pixel art and the animations are awesome too and I like the colours that you've used :) Overall you did a great job, thank you so much for sharing your game!
Cool concept. Really enjoyed it.
Very polished and well done game, I wish that the missiles had indicators before they launched and it felt a bit too hard but given the time and graphics constraints I feel that this is a contender for winning. I love the creativity and concept!
Thanks! The indicators are a really cool idea! I should really add this after the jam ends.
