Yea, I've found that to be true as well. I'm adding both ways of control in the next patch. You'll be able to toggle "click to play" on and off, and you'll also be able to use the number keys (or maybe ASDF) to play them. Give me a follow if you're interested in seeing this game evolve. I'll be working on it for a while.
Thank you very much. My girlfriend picked out the music. They're all free songs, so check them out in the description. You can use them for your projects as well.
And hey, if you're interested in my project, give it a follow. I'm going to be working hard on this one after the jam. I was surprised by how well it played and I'm aiming to make a complete product out of the prototype.
Honestly, really cool - I'd like to see this one expanded with additional commands (like drawing 3 cards for movement + another 2 for strafing/shooting etc). Congrats on the submission!
Wow, that's a killer idea. I have several experiments in adding "attacks" and combat to the game that I want to run once this jam is over. Perhaps having a section of the hand devoted to attack cards will solve the issue of not being able to attack whenever you want to. We'll see. Give me a follow if you want to see more. I'll be updating this game the second the Jam ends with some snappier controls and other quality of life updates.
Hmm, the thing is, I don't think that the controls are bad if you have the mouse, but playing it on laptops is hard. Surely, I would prefer if those cards could've been chosen with keyboard input (1, 2,3), and if it makes the game easier, then maybe they will have a delay before implementing/or just make the spaceship faster. BUT, maybe it was intentional to not use the keyboard, and in this case, I'm fine with that. I was still able to get over many obstacles normally.
Also, I found it strange that I could go to the left completely and keep going, although nothing was there. Probably, you know about that too and you were just restricted with time to block this zone somehow. But anyways, interesting game, and I liked the customization!
What an interesting game! The thing I loved about it, was that I didn't even read the tutorial for the game, and immediately got the hang of it! I also love the music, it fits the tone of the game. Sadly Survival Mode doesn't is buggy ;-; but I imagine what it would look like. With a bit more polish, this game would be phenomenal!
Fits the theme well, interesting mechanic. it feels like I have less control but the ship never felt like it was completely out of my control. Very well done.
This is a really cool idea! Honestly wasn't sure how much I was going to enjoy it just because it sounded like things were going to be quite hectic but this is a really well balanced game. Even though I wasn't in control of the cards I still felt like I could strategise my moves. Really good submission!
This feels way better to control than I thought it would be reading the description. The color coding of the ship is a really nice touch. Nice work!
At first I didn't notice the blue arrow pop up so I had no idea how to start the timer. That's probably just me being blind though. You could possibly make it more noticeable by adding text that shows the distance to the goal.
As others have said, cards that do different things would be good, like a U-turn, speed boost, laser, teleport, etc.
I agree. I thought this would be a fluke project for a game jam. I never expected it to feel this good to play. Also, you literally listed every card that I didn't manage to get in there in the allotted time XD. We definitely think alike. And yea, I want to at least add some floating text that directs you to follow the blue arrow (another thing that got cut).
I'm super passionate about this project now, so come back in two days and a lot of improvements will have been made. Give me a follow if you wanna see more.
Nice job! It would be cool if sometimes you could get a laser blast card to shoot though the rocks.
Yea, I've had several people suggest that. I made it so the color of the arrow corresponds with the color of the side of the ship that arrow is turning towards, but it's still confusing often time :/.
I'll be adding an indicator after the jam is over, so come back in a week and let me know if it helped or not. Thanks.
Very interesting game! I enjoyed it, I liked the customization option in the intro, nice touch!
