Glad you got to build a game with your daughter, it is rewarding experience building a game with your children.

The game itself was fun and after trying and giving up on making music with my moth, I am impressed. The artwork and silly dialog was enjoyable a little short and no real puzzles or challenges but understandable for jam, hope you get to make more.

Nice side scroller. Really wholesome to have made it with your daughter. The "Wouldn't it be nice if there was a hacking minigame here", I've been there.

I formed a new appreciation for mouse-noise music after attempting it for my own submission, and like other reviewers have said, the main menu music is great! I did end up turning it down once I got into the game, though :-P.

I really like the premise of the main mechanic. I would have loved to see more dynamic reactions to the two phases of the character, though. Feels like a lot of things were cut for time, as I was surprised how easy it was to get to the end. Despite that, the dialogue was enjoyable to read.

Congrats on another submission to GWJ! I hope to keep seeing more from the team in the future.

funny little game, i liked how the alien form just speak gibberish which the humans somehow understand, the hacking game at the end was kinda hard thu... i look forward to games like this in the future 👍

I liked this, the music was a lot of fun, artstyle is cute, and it was fun to see the different dialogue options for the different forms. Good work!

Nice, love me some side scrolling adventuring! Epic music and the fun character graphics made for a really nice vibe.

When the interior was zoomed in so you got blockier graphics - that was a nice touch.

Honestly... that menu music is iconic

It's hard not to like this game. Arts, musics, humor... Love it.

Man I loved this.  Kudos to you and your daughter!  The music/fx are killer and the art is so cute!

This was a real treat; the intro music really kicks it off, what a banger!

Honestly for all those who went for the Acapella wild card I have been impressed. It was a cool little slice and would have loved to see what it looked like with more content. Keep it up, hope to see a submission from you in the next one.

Best soundtrack of the game jam?
Almost definitely

I’m not entirely sure that I am not an alien in disguise after playing this game. Despite it being short, it was super cute!

  • (+) Obviously the audio is fantastic. I was bopping along as I went and kinda wanted to sing along.
  • (+) I really like the color theme in the artstyle, it’s very retro and made me feel like I was playing on an arcade-machine.
  • (-) Hacking mini-game would have been an awesome end to this little game.

Great work!

A very enjoyable experience, despite not much happening. Maybe you don’t even need a hacking game. I mean, the game can be a funny allusion to the theme, and bring a lot of fun and positive emotions instead of a brain-cracking challenge. Cute art and great sound!

This game was kind of unhinged, but in a cool way. Reminded me of some of the old arcade-style games that seemed to have their own weird logic that could make them weirdly easy or crazy hard depending on how you approached them. The visual style also felt like a throw back to that time, so I assume that’s intentional.

Anyway, I know you weren’t able to do everything you wanted, but still, great job!

What a banger for 9 days!! Can't wait to try out the hacking feature in the future! The atmosphere and characters were great. Witty dialogue too. Those a cappella songs were downright filthy, very well done

I get the idea of this game, it is sad you didn't get to finish it as you initially intended. Wish you luck with your entry

Finally somebody dares to use dadaistic gibberish in their dialogues. I like the hand-drawn artwork. Music was a bit creepy. Switching between camera zoom levels: nice addition, helps draw the player closer to the action. Wish there was that hacking game in the end. Keep up the good work.

Loved the a capella soundtrack! The charm came through immediately. And the track once you enter the building was a total vibe.

The writing was so good, did your daughter come up with some of the jokes?

Stop trying to change my world views!

Developer

Little Edie wrote the initial NPC lines and the alien's dialog, I added the dumb joke replies. I tried to write jokes she might have come up with but the worldview one is perhaps a bit above her level, haha! Super glad you liked it.

I played the game yesterday while frequency.data was streaming. I think it's awesome you are making your daughter a part of your game dev journey. Not only is it an amazing experience for a kid, but I'm sure you're finding new appreciation for games through her eyes. That's so fun.

To all three of you: keep doing what you're doing, it is a very creative little gem you got there.
