My boss's commentary being utterly unrelated to my actual performance was amusing; he claimed I got slower on day 2 (despite having a better time) and slightly faster on day 3 (despite taking longer on that day than the first two combined). On a related note, day 3 seems like a pretty big difficulty spike—it took me longer to get out of that initial spike chimney than it took to deliver either of the first two pizzas, and bullet bob stacks were introduced. This is especially notable since I found day 4's spike chimney and bullet bob sections much easier.

The ending was confusing—after that kind of set up, it seems like the conclusion shouldn't be going to just another house, yet it seems like that and dying on spikes are the only options? Am I missing something?

Hi, me again again. I just found the TRUE ending through level 1! I can't believe you have all these secrets, and even a new mechanic in one of them lol. Awesome!

Thanks for playing so thoroughly!

Incredible palette, and effects, felt good to play it.

Loved the twist at the end =)

What a great game! I really enjoyed playing it. I like the good controls, the  color palette,  the music and the twist at the end.

I had some troubles starting the game. This was mainly due to the phrasing of "To skip press enter". I though I should wait for something to happen. But it didn't. "To continue press enter" would have made it more clear.

Also the spikes were colored very similarly to the background. But I liked the many checkpints this made it much less anoying it you failed.

All in all a very good submission 👍

Sounds like a classic platformer and it is. Nice twist with the buttons.
Controls are really good, and feels responsive. The is just a problem with the camera. When we run to the right, we expect to have the character on the left to see what's going on. Secrets are welcomed to spice up the adventure. That's a great game.

Really love the secret level.... It so creative

Had fun discovering the secrets but I feel like I am missing on the hidden lore ;)

Developer

Thanks for playing! As for secrets, you missed a message telling you to go up the left wall in level one.

bring it!

one of the few games to finish 100% because of how nice the controls are

Really cool game. Started out as another platformer. I missed 1 coin in total btw. Sucks.

But the ending was a really fun addition!
I really enjoyed it, and loved the art and music!

After reading Endmark's comment there is hardly anything I could add, I 100% agree!

One thing I'd like to add though: The plural of pizza is pizze!

That's all, 11/10 will definitely play again!

This ... is a spicy meatball!

I've played 30+ games, but hadn't tried this jam submission yet. Every time I'd see the thumbnail and name I knew I wanted to give the simple, charming looking platformer a go. Especially as a former pizza boy myself!

Man, oh, man! Did you deliver an excellent jam game. Let's put aside levels 4 and 5, which were .. wow! The background layers on level 4 were genius and somehow  a nostalgia hit for something I'd just done! And level 5 was a loving tribute.

Even if you take away those extra touches though, you made a platformer that feels great to play (love the little buffer coyote time for forgiving jumps, the animations and particle effects gave everything life, the immediate respawn and generous checkpoints were much appreciated) but not only did it control great, it had awesome level design. The pacing was never boring and even though the coins are probably ultimately meaningless (unless they're what triggered level 4 and 5 and I didn't realize) they were a joy to collect, because they weren't too far off path and were enjoyable small platforming challenges. And those SFX and music! I think you wrote you used other sources and an asset pack, but even still, to select and implement just the right sounds is a challenge in itself.

My only critique ... other than wanting more levels, but let's be real, this is an ideal jam game length, is that I prefer when secret areas with additional coins are somewhat hidden. Telegraph to the player sure, so it's not completely obscure, but there's joy in discovering those Mario walls and Ori spaces you can actually jump into. How you do that with a retro palette and small pixel canvas? I'm not sure. Maybe a slight variation on tiles you can actually pass through? Only other thing, and I may have just missed it, is I would have liked to have the reveal teased a little earlier. The first time I noticed something amiss was right before  delivering to the house in level 3.

Overall, awesome work and a joy to play! With three diversifiers!!

Well the got dark, probably best or weirdest twist of the whole jam. Good Job.

GG!!!!!!!!!!!

That gameboy feeling with tight and responsive platform controls. Really nice!

Fun game, excellent design, controls and aesthetic. Very polished. Only thing that would have been nice is using up or w for jump in addition to the space bar. Overall great work!

fun game really liked it. although i get stuck on the side of the walls i know that was intended for the wall jumping but still it was a little annoying getting stuck on the walls

Hi, me again. I came back to play again and found the hidden mario level from the main screen!!! That is so cool haha.

That was amazing, the twist of the game tone that was foreshadowed by the music at the beggining added a lot to the game, I loved the system of coins and the voice acting of the Pizza Boss, the visual effects were so well done also.

I tried to implement similar visual effects on mine if you don’t mind to check it out and rate as well
