How does your game apply the limitation (and optionally, the theme)?
You're playing as a nightguard, that has a boss. Wether you consider phone guy to be said boss or someone elso isn't important. Alternatively many people consider Freddy to be kind of a bossfight. The theme applies in the way that you'll be 'on the edge of your seat' while playing because the game has jumpscares and requires a lot of attention.

What main engine/tool/language did you use to construct the game?

Which diversifiers did you use, if any?

That dang fan! I tried the refresh fix, but I kept getting it, but I kept playing because this was such a lovingly crafted tribute to FNAF. The way you implemented everything great about the original while packaging it in an NES game was truly impressive.

Great work! A very impressive solo dev entry.

Like others have said, this is an amazingly faithful recreation of FNAF. The sound design (apart from that unfortunate bug with the fan) is incredible. I don't really see how the theme applies, but this is amazing!

Developer

I did say how the theme applies on the submission page. But frankly, I do have to admit that it isn't really the best fit...

A very faithful recreation of the original game.

I really respect how much you researched and make it with such detail in a short amount of time.(There is even 6th day!)

Nice work!!

Very good pixel remake, even the sound is pixelized wich goes very well with the creepy atmosphere. Nonetheless i don't find it fit well with the themes

Very scary with the glitch sound

Really unusual idea with a very nice implementation. Made quite atmospheric and designed in a single cool style

This is amazing! I can only imagine how long this took you! Sound is on point and everything, it just makes me want to play it again :D!

I don't feel like this game fits the theme of the jam very well but it is a really good demake of the original nonetheless. I belive the mechanics are accurately reproduced since you linked Tech Rules's explanation. The controls are good in the office screen but a bit unintuitive in the camera screen. Also, is hard to understand what the voice on the call says, but I think it adds to the atmosphere. Good game overall.

Very cool remake! I never really played the original but i've seen some clips and this looks just like it! I was actually hoping it would play more like an NES game, but seems to be identical to the real game, just with alternate graphics (though i understand programming all ofthis must have been a huge chore, so nice job! I was curious if there were any copyright restrictions but this jam doesn't seem to have any. Overall excellent work!

This is amazing. I am a big fan of FNAF and seeing it done in a pixelated style is great. You really went all out on making it like a NES game. This is clearly had a lot of work put into it and it paid off, great job.

I like the 8-bit rendition of FNAF. Fun to see the control room, the UI, the cameras, and the sounds effects in a retro-ified style. I think they work well for what you set out to do.

I've never played any FNAF game, but I just barely made it through the first night, with less than 5% power remaining, and Bonnie staying visible through the left window for a while which was scary! I can't speak to the gameplay since it's not my thing, felt slow paced. I do wish there was a "you are here" dot on the map for people who haven't played FNAF before; I noticed in the AI video you linked, there was one.

Wow, I think I was so focused on knowing the game, that I never really thought about players who haven't actually played any of the games yet!

Never actually played Five Nights at Freddys but this is good. Great job with the visuals.

Very pretty game, endo. I like the aesthetic, and the even more limited graphics make the limited vision even spookier. I can tell that a lot of work went into this game, and I applaud the efforts! I wish I could play more, but scary games just ARE NOT my cup of tea. Good stuff though!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for the feedback! Scary games aren't really my thing either but when programming it it kinda loses it's scare...

True! For some reason the jam site messed up and didn't submit my game even when I pressed the submit button, but I made a game for this jam as well if you wanna check it out. Either way, really good stuff once again! https://noahschultz.itch.io/queen-of-the-hive
