Really like the art and music sounds pretty good as well. When i was putting the rune back where it belongs, it stopped me but not the bullets and i died because of it. Had to start the level over. :p The movement also felt a little weird at times. Those are my only complaints! Overall very nice!
Cool game! I loved the classic video game feel with the graphics and sfx. It also had the punishing difficulty found in older games. Groovy theme song. Like others, I'd suggest feedback when you get hit (and fix the sound glitch on level two, yikes!) One of my favorite parts was the animation on the basic robots, how their legs moved and the swirls that came out of their feet.
All in all, great work. Keep it up!
thank you very much! The game has kimda came together like this by accident. In the last hours I gave the ability for the robots to damage you when you touch them. This meant, that no one beated, or even saw the 4th level, which is a bit of a shame. I'll make it post-jam, so that they won't damage you this way anymore. xD
I liked the idea and the mood of the game.
I miss some player feedback about the health and a little more control over the robot.
But is a beautiful game and i loved art style of the menu
The art and the music are nice, and I like the idea. But the controls were a bit annoying. The player was too slow at the start and took it a lot to accelerate, which was annoying. And also the fact that if you die you go back to the very beggining was a bit frustrating.
Other than that, nice game!
I liked the art and your take on the theme! I had some difficulties with the controls and the parallax bg was a little off, other than that great job, fun to play!
The art is very cute! Though I've encountered a bug on the second level though, the big enemy was chasing me and the audio bugged out and kept playing a high pitch sound. But overall, very well made game!
The art is probably some of the best I've seen for this Jam, the game is also a good challenge. Like others have mentioned, the game would really benefit from tighter controls. Great job.
Just wow, the art is awesome! I really liked it. Even so the enemies could have needed another color. One thing i would spend a little time on would be the background. It was a bit off on my screen.
Love the simplicity of the game! The art and sound effects were amazing, and it was fun to try and dodge around the enemy lasers while moving through the level. Though the enemies having the same color palette as your character can be a bit confusing, and the lazers dont look as threatening as it could be, and it threw me off slightly as I wasn't too sure whether they were hostile or not until they started blasting at me. Overall great game though, it was a lotta fun!
Yeah, now that you said that this can lead to some understending issues. I did this the way I did, because I imagined that the robots have the same origin, but for some reason they became hostile. All, but the player. That was the story, wich in the end hasn't been implemented, mainly because I forgot.
I love the art, reminds me of risk of rains look.
The game play is simple and easy to understand.
Unfortunately:
-The sounds don't really match the art though. They should all be deeper in pitch imo. Big slow moving orbs would probably not make the same sound a tiny laser would.
-The music got a little grating after a while.
-In the second level something caused the shoot sound to play repeatedly, and I nearly went deaf.
-And losing should really send you to the start of the level, not the start of the game. Thats just cruel.
Overall though. I'd give it a passing grade. :)
Cool game. Just need to polish more the player movement (acceleration an deceleration), I think it can be even more improved in terms of these dinamics. But overall well done!
I'd like to know what do you think of my game !
nice animation for the player and enemies. when i got the 2nd rune a sound glitch start, a bip was constant until the end of the level.
It's really hard that big ones could also jump, I wish a double jump.
great pixel art
nice job!
could you check out my Jam submission? i'll really appreciate it. Thanks!
Looks really good, plays okay. It's good you made the jump so that if you keep the button pressed longer you jump higher, but I feel like it's a little bit too much, making the jump feel really slow, or maybe unresponsive is a better word. The game looks great. I really like the atmosphere with the nightsky and the nature setting. Feels like another planet. Robot design is cool too, and the pixelart is great. So yeah, cool game overall!
Thank you so much! I was in a (game design) crisis and even tought that I should just give up, but hearing this I think it was worth it! Most of the game uses art assets, but I drew the player character, the chunky robot, some icons, and the pickup. (as well as the portal) I don't even know how these assets came to fit each other. xD I think I know what you mean by the jumping, so maybe I could fix that up in a post-jam version.
Also have you heard any sound bugs when you press a menu button? Maybe it's just my PC, it didn't do that in godot.
