Great job! This game is sharp, and satisfying to play, great animations and feedback when typing!

Fun and satisfying! Not gonna lie I made it to level 10 without realizing it was a tower defence game. I have a few issues and suggestions though

- The game froze at some point and i'm not sure what i did to cause that
- If i back out with backspace, you can't tell where you left off and i keep trying to type the first letter with no success
- The tower placing phase should be a little more obvious since I just clicked next wave as soon i was able to. Maybe clear most of the UI as well so that you can place towers to the top of the map too
- The words spin with the enemy and i'd like if the words were straight at all times, easier to read

Also maybe when the towers have been shooting an enemy before the player, instead of having to start from somewhere in the middle of the word, maybe let the player start from the beginning and kill the enemy when you've typed X letters, depending on how much damage the towers have dealt. Just a thought!

Engaging and satisfying typing makes the simple core fun, but the turrets feel really counter-intuitive, and progression doesn't feel natural.

-Favorite part is the swiveling of the words, that adds a fun level of difficulty when trying to work out what you are needing to type/tracking where you are in the word. And the feedback when typing/finishing a word feels great.

-The turrets actually made it a lot harder for me, because I could type faster than them anyway and they'd randomly complete a letter for me that would ruin where I was in the word and cause errors/loss.
It would be better if they just stunned the ships so they stopped moving temporarily, or something like that-something that didn't interrupt your spelling.
It would also be good if it didn't tell you to place turrets when you didn't have them, and some more consistency in gaining them would help. I gained a lot in one wave (I think wave 3) then none for more than 6 waves. Makes for an awkward gameplay curve.
Also had a freeze bug in the first level when typing, I think it was quickly finishing the word of one enemy and beginning to type another.

Thanks for your feedback, this is really important for me.

I agree, the turret part is a bit problematic. I found the best way is to place the turrets very far away from you and close to each other. That way, they might be able to finish some enemies, and you can focus on other enemies. The stunning/slowing down or maybe knock back could be a solution.

I didn’t take the time to balance and for know you only have 10% probability to have a turret. I might have to make tweaks.

Again, thank you for your feedback, I’ll look into that!

Very fun tower defense game! It's very satisfying to kill things with typing. I would totally buy this for my kids. I did run into some kind of game freeze, I think it was on level 5.

Developer

Awesome man! Really good to see someone playing, it helps me a lot to understand how the player reacts, especially when it’s time to put some turrets but he has none ^^

Your video is super helpful, I’ll definitely use your feedback for an updated version.

About the freeze, I have no idea where it came from for know. I do recommend to use the desktop version if you want, as it runs much smoother.

This game is so fun! I really liked it! Hope to see more in the future!

It'll be nice if you check out our game too (:

That was fun to play, the feedback to player's input is super satisfaying. Well done visual effects.

And the concept itself is really fun.

i'd love yo know what do you think of my game !

What an incredible idea! I love seeing different variations of turret defense games since I can get lost in them for hours. Great animations and just the right amount of screen shake to feel impactful. Game is well polished.
I would've liked to see what gave me more turrets. Was it just one every few rounds? Did I get them faster by having less errors or typing words faster?
I also ran into an issue on level 5 where I had two long words right on top of each other and it started typing both words, but I couldn't progress until I typed the covered word. This was an issue since I couldn't see enough to know what it was.  This was a super rare occurrence and didn't happen again.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I’m glad you liked it.

I know it’s not obvious, but some enemies carry turret with them, you can see it right next to their label. I want to add some animations to show that you collected something.

Hmmm ok, I’ll look into that.

This is a very creative take on the theme! The animations and screenshake is perfect! I cant really find anything to suggest, its just too perfect for a game jam!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Really glad you liked it!

One of the best games in this jam!

I really think that you should add some tutorial to let you know you to play and more importantly to teach you how to get/put towers (I still got no idea of how to use it...) ☺

Developer(+1)

Wow, thanks a lot! I’m really glad you liked it.

You’re right, I plan on adding a mini tutorial to help the player start.

Basically at the end of the round, if you collected towers during the wave, you have them in the inventory at the bottom. You then simply click on it to select it, move it where you want with your mouse, and left click to place.

very high quality graphics and polish, and very fun experience, although I did encounter some problems but that might have to do with browser maybe, at first it worked great but then I couldn't type or my towers weren't shooting, not sure what happened, except for that, when it worked it was really cool and unique concept!

Developer

Thanks! I tried my best to make the game really juicy. Yes, I know the web version doesn’t run that well. I might try to make a lighter version.

Submitted(+1)

This is a very polished and quality experience. I loved it though it may be tough for people who have to look at the keyboard to type as the enemies are swift. The take on the theme is very nice and I am glad I could find this. I did find it a bit annoying when i would type a word and it would lock onto a different one and sometimes they overlapped making it impossible to read them but overall the experience was a positive one, well done!

Developer

Thank you, I tried to make it juicy as possible! You’re right, but also it’s a great way to practice! I tried to avoid that by having enemies with different starting letter. I want to address the overlap issue and also the difficulty by making enemies spawn at different time and not all at once.

Can't believe I was only able to rate this game now. This is REALLY high quality, and I love all the little signs of polish (eg zooming in on an enemy when typing it, etc). I love typing games, and I love tower defense games even more, so even the concept is up my alley! Overall, I don't really have anything bad to say, but it does run kind of slow on web. If you have the time, I'd appreciate it if you tried my game out too!

Developer

Wow! Thank you for the kind words, it means a lot! I tried my best to add some juice to the get, to make the typing experience feel great. I’m planning on making a lighter version, especially on particles, that should help the web version run smoother.

I’ll check it out for sure!

I was a little confused to begin with when it said to place my turrets but I didn't have any, but made more sense when I got one in wave 3. I ran into a bug where I was able to continually place turrets as long as i didn't confirm the last one i placed, then they all came in when i confirmed them. Otherwise I had heaps of fun. The typing concept is great!

Developer

Yeah I could work on that, maybe skip the turret placing if you don’t have any turret, or maybe give you one turret for the first round.

Oh yes, thank you for spotting this bug! It makes sense because of the way I’m handling turret placement ^^

Thank you for taking the time to play and rate my game :)

would be great if you got the chance to play my submission at some point! :)

Developer

Thanks, it means a lot! I will check it out :)

It's cool to see another typing game in the jam.  I really enjoyed your game.  You should check out mine, you play music by typing in time.  I love the camera, and how it locks onto the words.  Great game!

Thank your for your comment! I just checked it out and left a comment :)

The most original game I played in this jam so far. And very well polished. Typing away the ennemies felt really good :)

Great game !

Developer

Thank you for your comment! Exactly the feeling I tried to create :)

When enemies come from the left side, I get to see the last letters of their words before I see the first ones, which means I have to guess. Even when they come from the right side, I sometimes tried to guess the ends of the words before knowing the start. I'm not quite sure the turrets helped: when I type normally, I don't skip letters, unless I'm relying on things like autocorrect and know before I start typing a word which letters I can get away with skipping, so having to skip letters on purpose would actually be slower. Well, at least typing an already-typed letter wouldn't force me to retype the word, which would have been annoying.

Developer

Thank you for your comment. Indeed the turrets can be difficult to work with, the way I found works best is to put the turrets at the extremities and close together. That way, they might be able to eliminate some enemies completely, letting you focus on other enemies. Also, because it doesn’t really punish you when you type the wrong letter, you could just retype the world world, and it will pick up the enemy once you arrive at its letter. It will only counts as errors in the stats.

This game has great "game feel" you can really feel the impact of typing thanks to the audio and graphical design. the idea of typing to fight enemies is also very clever in a tower defense game. However, while this might just be me, i found the turrets as more of a hindrance than helpful as they effected what part of the word i needed to type. maybe the should shoot off the last letters of the word? just a thought. Overall great job! It was very fun to play!  It would mean a lot if you could check out my Jam submission if you get the chance. Thanks!

Developer

Thank you for your comment. Indeed the turrets can be a bit distracting. Once there are a lot of enemies tho, they can come in handy. The way I found works best is to put the turrets at the extremities and close together. That way, they might be able to eliminate some enemies completely, letting you focus on other enemies.
