I found a bug where the dialog swapped the faces of the characters (see below).

Also, the art was GREAT! I really loved it.

For me, this game brought back memories of my significant other running all over town trying to find thin mint ice cream. Pregnancy cravings can be brutal, at least "pulled pork on vanilla ice cream" was not one we had to deal with.

But it does sound appealing right? Right?! haha we picked some real random combinations to feed into the dialogue system. Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed! I'm looking forward to fixing that dang portrait swap bug this weekend.

Haha! Yeah, I loved the crazy combos!
I know how you feel, I think we are all looking forward to fixing our games post-jam.
(Although mine will have to wait since Ludum Dare starts today.)

Honestly really great game, great job adding particles to pick up locations that helped find the ingredients. as mentioned by some other the dialogue looped here and there but not game breaking. Pretty fun game, Awesome artwork, the portraits are super impressive and the animations are on point.

Thanks so much for your compliments and your time!
Yeah we had a hard time re-creating the bug before the jam and then when we finally found it it was too late to fix.   But after the jam we will!   Appreciate the artwork compliments since it was my first go at game artwork.  :)

Fun and very humorous! It fit the jam's theme really well. There were a few dialogue bugs. For example occasionally the portraits were not matching up and sometimes the conversations got stuck in a loop. These were minor though and didn't affect the gameplay. Overall great work!

We appreciate you playing and the feedback. Thanks so much!

Yeah that silly bug hid from us for a long time but by the time we figured it out it was too late :'(  But we will fix it after the jam ends!

I really liked your game!

Can you please add a tutorial at the start to the controls will be more clear? (I didn't realize the the boost is to your mouse location and thought it wasn't working right)☺

Thanks for playing!

Yeah, you have a good point, it's on our list of "too add"s thank you so much for the feedback :)

Crazy to think this was made in a week!

Very good game, fantastic artwork and a good few chuckles in there as well.

I thought I would try this game out quickly and ended up sticking with it for a good 30-45 minutes or so! Could play it over and over

Oh wow, that is high praise!  Thank you so much.  We hope to add more content / different stores / more story and jokes.  :)  So glad you enjoyed and we appreciate your time.

From the outstanding art to the witty dialogue, this game is a riot! I'm not good at dodging  stuff so I would enjoy a mode with fewer projectiles and more emphasis on memorizing  grocery store layout but that is purely personal preference. 'Expecting Groceries' is super high quality and deserves to place highly in this jam.

Thank you so much that's really nice of you to say!  :)  I appreciate you playing our game a lot.

Nice game! I'm really impressed by the number of systems you managed to implement in such a short space of time, and how you styled each of these to fit into your theme.

Thank you so much for playing!  Appreciate the kind words :)

Super cute game! I loved the dialogue, style, and art. The gameplay was fun, if a bit simple, but everything fit very well together, especially the lady throwing shrimp :P Awesome work!

Thanks OmniCoffee! Crazy how much code it takes for such little gameplay loop haha. We definitely want to add some more 'oomph' to the game after the jam is over. Glad you enjoyed it.

Loved the art style and the comical use of grocery items as hazards. And the sample lady throwing shrimp? 10/10

Unfortunately I was unable to play the game as the default resolution it started in was too large for my monitor and did not fullscreen or have an option to.

Aw, that's sad to hear Mewbusi. We've been running into each other in all the streams and discords I was hoping you'd get a chance to play! Thanks for the info though and I'll be sure to allow more resolution options in future updates.

Awesome game and dope music :D sometimes the photo of the person speaking and the text didn't match. but that was no biggie. Loved it! well done

If you dont mind, would you take a look at my game Arcade Boy? I could really use some feedback :)

Thanks for the feedback on that dialogue bug. Still trying to track it down and fix it.  Glad you enjoyed the game!

Like the idea; great use of the theme. Music is GRRooovy.

Thanks for playing. Glad you enjoyed the game :)

loved the mechanics, music and graphics, this would be fantastic as a little mobile game time killer. I did found one issue, if you press Space near the wife, instead of clicking continue, while dialog is still going on, dialog resets and the portrait change on a never ending loop, but everything else is on point

Hey thanks for reporting that issue - I'm trying to get to the bottom of it, but would rather play some jam games this week instead! Glad you enjoyed the game. Thanks for playing :)

Good idea for a game and pretty comical :) I liked the music as well. I feel like the dash getting stuck when sliding along wall was pretty jarring and could be a nice improvement. Good entry overall!

Thanks so much for the feedback, we will be sure to fix  that after the jam is over!

Thanks so much!  Appreciate the kind words and you taking the time to play :)

I thought free shrimps would boost my speed for some reason :D.Pretty simple but fun game.I really liked the character sprites reminds me of stardew valley :).Only problem i saw was swapping avatars but i think other commenters noticed that too.Overall great work :D

HAHA!  I can see the confusion, with shrimp usually being delicious!  We did implement a hidden energy drink for speed boosts, but you have to get to the 3rd round or so for them to appear.

Stardew Valley was a huge inspiration art wise for this game - obviously one of our favorites.  Thanks so much for taking the time to play and your kind words!

Great implementation of the theme, and the focus on collectibles! The music and arts could be improved but they’re great.

Controls were fine, but as an AZERTY keyboard user, using WASD is hard. If you can, try to add gamepad or arrow keys! Small things, when you start over, you have to go through the dialog again, which slows down the game.

Overall pretty great, congrats!

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. Annuke and I definitely want to polish this game further after the jam and will take your comments into consideration. Happy to hear you enjoyed the game!

God damn free samples! I really like this concept had fun playing it. One bug I came across is when I was going through the text the character avatars swapped? Unsure if this was intended but thought I'd let you know! Look forward to seeing more updates :)

Would be appreciated if you could check my game out!

Thanks a bunch for playing and for giving feed back!!  We heard about that bug but could no recreate it on our end until after the jam submission deadline lol.  Waiting to update the fix after voting is over.   Glad you enjoyed.  Can't wait to check out your game :)

Awesome I wish you the best of luck! Keep it up and I appreciate you will check my game out :)

very cool and beautiful desing!

It will be nice if you check our game too😄

Hey Rondi! Glad you enjoyed the game! I had a blast playing through Mazeways just now. Thanks for playing :)

Very cool idea ;D I laughed so hard when I saw the shrimp-throwing lady! Really great job. The retro feel and art and sound fit together perfectly and remind me of those games from the late 80's early 90's. Great fun in any case!

Yay!! Thanks so much for taking time to play, I'm glad you enjoyed.
