How does your game bring our theme, The Error is the Feature, to life?
A card game + autobattler featuring broken card combos and extremely chaotic combat physics.

The game puts player in the role of a developer of a broken game, fighting off glitches and bugs to fix it!

Other game mechanics also amplify the chaos, such as having a new rule thrown at the player each round to make them adapt and rethink their strategy.

Excellent game. I had fun. I got like 3 duplicate hands, with a few refill energy and I ended up doing a reverse sweep. I like how broken some of the combos could be!

Developer

Haha thank you for playing! The balancing is still a bit wonky right now but that's the exact things we were hoping players would get while playing the game!

Good design for everyone involved! if an auto-battler used compute shaders, the game could push bigger boards and smarter fights without the FPS faceplant—parallel targeting, AOEs, and flow/potential fields all ticking at once while the CPU handles UI/netcode. bonus: the system could batch a ton of “what-if” matches in seconds for balance and live placement tips, so it actually helps you make better choices mid-run.

(YES? LETS MAKE AN COMPUTE SHADER AUTO BATTLER PROJECT TO EXPERIMENT?)

Very well made. Strengths were played to etc etc.
Unfortunately nobody fixed the game breaking issue of stuck guys. So I haven't been able to complete a run.
This game exists in a superposition of polished and unpolished. It looks nice and has a lot of cool stuff going on, but yet the onboarding and feedback feel a bit awkward and the game is unwinnable... hmmm....
Anyway it'll probably end up in top ten because its impressive.
I still hate card games tho

Developer

Hey thank you for playing and giving your feedback.

As more and more players report the softlock bug, the more I’m beating myself up over not fixing it since I worked on that system. But we’re working on a post-jam update for the game.

Your other points of feedback is valid too and we’ll look into make the game feel better to play.

Thanks again for trying even if you hate card games haha.

Really polished and a great take on the theme, I liked trying to plan out my strategy but kept ending up with too many cards in my hand! Would have been interesting to add a discard mechanic or way to convert high-energy cards into something you can use.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Your feedback is greatly appreciated and we’ll see how to incorporates those in future updates.

Discard mechanic

You can currently actually discard cards right now in this build, by clicking on the X button on the card. It’s not spelt out in the game, and I imagine a lot of other players also miss it, but that’s because there was planned mechanics that ultimately got cut for the jam submission build. But we still sneaked in some easter eggs there for people who try ;)

Magnificent

Thanks for playing :D

this is a very polished and well done game. It feels fun and engaging from the start menu and throughout the gameplay. You even focused on fine details like the visual transitions and subtle visual/sound effects. The actual autobattler feels fun though as others may have mentioned there were some balancing issues. Overall felt like the difficulty ramped up very quickly and sometimes may be hard to exactly tell how powerful the enemy is (maybe I'm just bad at autobattlers). And unfortunately I ran into a gamebreaking bug where my unit got stuck near the cards and couldn't attack the nexus.
Once some of the balancing issues are resolved and the bugs are kinked out, this will be a lot of fun to replay!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for giving it a try. The issues of the balancing and the softlock has been duly noted, thank you for pointing those out in your own gameplay.

As for the extra information, that's totally valid too, and something I honestly kind of overlooked since I was the one tuning the numbers for the units, so I forgot that most other people wouldn't have the intimate knowledge of the game (happens to all of us all the time really). It's something I would like to address by adding a collapsible info panel in future updates.

Thanks again for your feedback :)

Really interesting card battle game, I love this artstyle so much!! Really fun to play. And it's always good to see a fellow Godot developer on this jam! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words!

It's not just me who's a Godot developer, but 2 others in the team too, haha. But yeah, I do love being in the Godot community.

A really fun game with interesting genre blend. The art and sound design are unique and rather polished. I had a great time until RNG hit me in the face. Sometimes you just don't get any damage card at all in rounds and lose every fight because of it. Heal cards are not energy efficient enough to be worth it. And a well timed corruption/double damage can end the run easily. I would love to play the gain again if some more balancing are done. Good stuff.

Developer

Thank you for playing! You're dead on with the balancing stuffs. They are definitely one of the last things we focused on when we scrambled for the deadline of the jam, but we would like to address those issues in post-jam updates.

Consider adding the game to your collection or follow one of us to get updates on further development of the game :) Thanks a lot again.

very fun, I like it when a game gives off a board game vibe. And also extremely polished for 3 days. you just MUST win guys

Developer(+1)

Oh wow thank you very much for the compliments and the support! We weren't necessarily going for the board game aesthetics, but I guess they came out that way with how the artists created the assets, so I'm glad that was a happy accident :)

This is so good. Hats off.

Developer

Thank you!

Wow what a beautifully polished game! It's insane you were able to make this in such short amount of time.

The art and sound were especially nice It would be cool to see this further developed into the direction of a deckbuilder/roguelite!

Developer

Oh thank you very much for the kind words. I was lucky to have found a great team and everyone worked hard on the game, I'm very glad you enjoyed it.

We are currently developing a post-jam update for the game, but who knows what holds for the future ;) If you would like to get updates on the game please consider adding the game to your collection or following one of the team member's profile. Thanks again for playing!

Very fun game! It was nice breezing through it! :)

One complaint I have is that I couldn't sort cards by cost and by type, which would've been convenient. That didn't stop me from creating an OP army anyway x)

Congrats on the submission, it was nice playing it from start to finish :)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and enjoying!

Definitely many “nice to have” features never got considered or implemented as part of the jam submission, but thank you for your feedback, we would love to includes those in post-jam updates.

Had fun playing! The audio and music are nice, although it's a bit stuttery at the start. I got soft locked and had to reload the browser. I feel like my army was too strong. I was playing really greedy for ep and my army just kept on winning haha. Overall, pretty fun game :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Also thanks for the compliments on the sound designs, I noticed that you have worked with one of our teammates before, Mo Memo haha.

Sorry that you had encountered the softlock bug, we are working on a post-jam update to make the game more polished. Consider adding the game to a collection to stay tun for updates :)

This was super fun to play, i like that each round has its own perk to strategise around. The art is amazing, and the sprite animations are fun - despite them only being stretched/ scaled, I enjoyed the way they moved and it worked really well. I also thought the story was great haha, it really connected everything together.

During my play through, on my very first round a soldier did get stuck at the bottom, which didnt allow me to progress so i had to restart the game - maybe just adjust the collider slightly. Also, i ended up with soo many cards and not really any way to use them - i think 6 energy points is a bit to limiting as per the card ratio.

Overall, this was a fun polished game and a great entry to the jam, and very impressive in 3 days. Gg!

Developer

Thank you for playing and the kind words!

Our artists worked hard to produce a lot of assets, but 3 days were still too short for them to properly do characters animations so I made the in-engine animations, really glad you liked it.

Some bugs and balancing of the game is unfortunately did not get addressed in time for the deadline, but I’m glad you still had fun with it. Thanks a lot again!

Submitted(+1)

Really great game. love it in all terms. The art and SFXs were so polished and well made. the amount of work u guys done in just 3 days was great. overall great game!

Developer

Thank you for liking it. I'm glad you have enjoyed our work. It was hard but definitely worth it to hear about people enjoying it in the end.

Submitted(+1)

Wow, what a solid game and a great game loop too.  I wasn't expecting  to see an autobattler in this 3 days jam honest! It was so fun playing this game! Love the art and sfx and music as well. Good job!

Developer

Thank you! Autobattler is definitely a genre I love to play, so I always find an excuse to make them too. Glad you have enjoyed our work!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty cool game, very well polished, thought I did find a bug where my robot pathfinding broke and he was stuck walking into the wall not attacking the core. The game is pretty polished, but it needs some improvements, like, the cards clutter and a bit more balancing to make things more fun to play, I really didn't like the 50/50 gimmick as even with good cards, you can just get cucked, I also was not a big of a fan of having very low energy, as all my runs I didn't really gain any cards to increase it, only on the run that I actually won I got them. The art is good and the gameplay is pretty intuitive.

Overall, it is a pretty well made game, very polished, has very good potential to became a full game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your comment and feedback!

Yes, I agree the game can use some more work on the soft-locking issues and the balancing, so we are working on those features as a post-jam updates. As jammers we all know the experiences of having to scramble as the deadline approaches so sadly some bugs still slip through and balance is definitely not high on the priority list either lol.

But yeah, I'm glad to hear you like the game. If you want to get updated on the latest development of the game, consider giving one of the team members a follow on their profile page. Thanks again!

Submitted(+3)

This game caught me so off-guard with the quality. Honestly amazing yall cooked

Developer(+1)

I'm very glad to hear you have enjoyed it!

Submitted(+2)

Very cool game and amazing job getting all this done during the jam! I think for the auto battler combat you need some way to get out of soft locks where units get moved around and stuck due to the physics, but great job!

Developer

Thank you for liking the game!

Yeah, we tried to squash those bugs as much as we could during the jam time frame, but sadly it still happens somewhat rarely. But we’re looking into for a post-jam update right now. Thanks again for letting us know and overlooking that pesky UX flaw.

Submitted(+3)

Wow, this was a solid game with a great game loop. Very good job on making this in 3 days. One thing that became a bit overwhelming was the sheer amount of cards that began to pile up in my hand, cards that I had no desire to use. I loved the art and the overall aesthetic of the game.

This is gold. Great job guys!

Developer(+2)

Hello thanks for the honest review. I just wanted to let you know the close button on the cards is a real button which we didn't have time to introduce as a real mechanic :)
Maybe you are able to get something from this feature who knows >:)
