How does your game bring our theme, The Error is the Feature, to life?
A card game + autobattler featuring broken card combos and extremely chaotic combat physics.

The game puts player in the role of a developer of a broken game, fighting off glitches and bugs to fix it!

Other game mechanics also amplify the chaos, such as having a new rule thrown at the player each round to make them adapt and rethink their strategy.

Visuals and sounds was solid. And the game itself was very fun. Good job mate!

Developer

Thank you for playing :D

Amazing visuals and lots of juice! Pleasantly surprised to see an autobattler in a gamejam with a card game (and all of this is inside the meta game?). I really liked how every turn there was a different effect which kept you on your toes. It's clear a lot of effort went into this as it's very ambitious but it pays off! It would've been nice if we could see what cards our deck holds for strategy (but I guess that would take away the chaos). But honestly, this is an incredibly entry and a very polished game given the 3 day time constraint!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words! We were surprised ourselves when the game was able to come together like this, so it means a lot to us that you enjoyed it.

Of course we had plans to put in a lot of standard features for the genre but as we all know, we all had to prioritize for the most essential parts. We are working on a post-jam updates so if you want to be kept in the loop for it consider giving one of us a follow XD.

What a great take on a card battler! I love the mechanic of adding a new glitch each turn and how they can affect your cards and stats. A very charming, quirky presentation too. Loved playing this one!

Developer

Thank you very much! We enjoyed making it so I'm glad you enjoyed the game too.

Had a blast playing this game! It’s super fun and looks really polished. The sound design does a great job of making the player feel like they are dealing with a computer, and the juicy art absolutely delivers!

I did notice a few things, like multiple cards giving health to the nexus while also dealing damage. Maybe having some mutually exclusive effects on the same card would help with clarity.

You should all be really proud of the final result. I see a great future for this project, and I hope you continue to explore its development!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for all the kind words!

Yea the duplicate effects could be simplified for better clarity for sure. It came from the round effects that adds extra effects onto your existing cards. We weren't able to consolidate all the extra random effects into simplified form, but we will look into that.

We will definitely try to see where this project can go from here. Please give me and other members' of the team a follow if you want to get updates on this project :)

The sound design is the best part of this - like how it changes depending on what's happening. The art is really good. The gameplay felt maybe less strategic than what you were going for? But I still had a blast. One of the contenders for winning the jam.

Developer

Our artists and sfx designer will be very pleased to hear that! Thank you for checking out the game?

Yeah, we did lean a bit much into the randomness and less on the strategic gameplay, but we thought it works well enough for a jam game, considering the time frame.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

as the sound designer, this made my day! appreciate the kind words :)

Played Live in Jamlytics- Great game! hope the live feedback helped a lot! <3

Developer(+1)

You pointed out really great points about the game. Thanks for that I will apply them for my future Jam submissions.

Developer

Thank you for playing and the feedback. Definitely improves my game dev, game design skills a lot!

Very polished game. The art is quite good and funky.

I got feedback for design:

- I like the idea that in each turn player will got some random debuff/buff to the cards. But this is now not really give strategy layer for me to think since my cards will be random and I cant control the card pack (no collection aspect) so it will be random x random.Eg: in Slay the spire I can play more strategically because I control the card pack and have hint from enemy next steps.

- The card EP cost kind of high which cause me hard time to play, since most of them keep going with 4 and 5 EP which require me to invest more to cap EP at early game. This force me to play in 1 meta only, maybe have more meta to play for early game

At the end of the day, this is quite good game for 3 days jam! Congratulation

Developer

Thank you for your feedback!

Yes, I think more strategic elements to the game may feel much more rewarding to play. We ultimately went with the more chaotic and random approach for better theme interpretation but it's something to be revisited if we continue development on this game for sure!

Holy cow, an autobattler for a game jam! Well done. I'm sure this took a tremendous amount of effort. The art style was nice, the deck mechanics were great, and I think you have the bones of a really nice prototype here. Well done. My only complaint is I wish there was a bit more of an onboarding process. It was straightforward enough to figure out the mechanics, but it felt a bit overwhelming at first reading all the different cards and trying to grasp exactly what was going to happen. Nicely done overall!

Developer

Thank for for playing! It was my second try on the autobattler genre in game jams, and I'm glad I have a good team this time to bring such concepts to life!

The onboarding process is definitely a key piece of feedback that I have heard from a few people, so there should be a better way for sure. but yeah, getting the core game out the door is definitely the priority in jams.

Loved the fighting animation, very well done

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for checking out my game! I worked  on those animations so I'm pleased to hear you like it :)

Submitted(+1)

It’s my pleasure :)

i wanted to see a boss bug ! , but over all a cool finished and executed game.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! Yeah we had some plans to make multiple levels, but as you already know, things inevitably got cut when the deadline approaches haha.

Thank you for playing! I enjoyed your work on the music and sound design in your entry too :)

Great art and good game-play. truly have fun playing it!!

Great art style, good juicy effects, and just overall well executed.  I love this style of game and it's awesome to see one in a game jam.  Good work!

Developer

Thanks a lot! I implemented the visual and sound effects but I couldn’t have done it without my team :)

Autobattler is one of my favorite genres too so I’m glad it resonated with you.

Incredible gameplay loop. Extremely fun and simple autobattler. Love the art and sfx and music as well.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words :) We even had plans to make more content but as all game jams go we had to prioritize and was only able to ship the MVP of the concept, but I’m glad it was satisfactory.

Submitted(+1)

Very good, great gameplay, I liked the art, the story, and the cutscenes, and especially the wide variety of cards and the game’s logic.

Developer

Thank you very much! I’ll be sure to let my teammates know you have enjoyed their works :)

Submitted(+1)

Very cool, enjoyed it a lot! Love the animations of the characters :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I tried to make the character animations as funky as I can but I was worried that it was too chaotic and unreadable, but I’m glad you liked it.

Submitted(+3)

This was a good bit of fun! You all made something amazing in these 3 days. I especially loved the music made for it! I did get a bug (of the less intentional variety) that soft locked the game when all of the enemies and allies died right next to what I assume is the enemy nexus health collider. The game didn't move to the next wave when that happened. But regardless, this was absolutely incredible!

Developer

Thank you for playing it!

I worked on the battle physics and yeah it's unfortunate that those pesky bugs still exist in the game, but within the time frame I had tried my best to fixed as many of those edge cases as I can. They are just kinda really random so I wasn't able to fix all of them. But regardless I'm glad you had fun!

Submitted(+2)

I really had fun with this one... been playing for about 1h now and I really like the gameplay. Everything is nice, the audio, the visual, the mechanics, everything is chef kiss. Ez 10/10. The error card is damn OP man and it makes me feel unstoppable xD.

Developer(+1)

Haha, thank you. It means a lot to us as the devs.

We discovered some cards were really OP like you said, but decided to keep it in as part of the jam spirit of games being broken 😂
