This is really incredible for 48 hours! Really cool and enjoyable game :)
I'm impressed you got everything done in 48 hours when making that many levels! Increasing jump height when you get smaller is a welcome addition too.
Somehow I got the game crashing at level 3 when I tried increasing in size in order to break the blocks. (or I assume that's what I'm supposed to do) Later I'll give it another attempt to see if I can get past it. As a suggestion I agree with another commenter that the "head-bump" jumps can be annoying, but I did get the hang of them in the end. Adding a more clear distinction between normal air and a death zone would be another suggestion.
The little guy jumps so high xD very nice game with a consistent colour palette, good gameplay and fun platforming. Would have been nice if there was some background music in the levels, but other than that the scaling is fun to use and I like the level design! Very well made considering you also only used 48 hours. Best of luck in the jam :))
thank you so much for the feedback!! definitely agree and would have loved to add some music but just ran out of time unfortunately :P
heh dragon scales
hehehe
Alright, I just finished it, and I have to say, this really has potential. I like the fact that you can scale yourself up and down. This can potentially lead to some really interesting level design.
A few suggestions:
- Maybe decrease the gravity a little bit; the player feels a bit heavy.
- Some sections were a bit frustrating because you would just bonk your head and fall to your demise.
Besides that, it really is a good start for something that could be awesome, and I don't know why, but the death animation combined with the sound effect really made me giggle.
Good job!
hey! thanks so much for the feedback, i will definitely be changing up the level bit to just finish off the project once the jam is over to turn the frustrating jumps into more optional sections for collectables, there are some that i can see are just super annoying for no reason :P
also im glad you enjoyed the death animation XD
A standard and good platformer game and somehow similar to my game. Good job.
Cute little platformer! I like how the player has to make use of the differents sizes to get through the levels. The platformer physics are pretty good, but I felt that the interaction with the blue zone was a little inconsistent. It would be nice to have a little bit of coyote time to make some jumps easier and less precise.
The collectible are a nice touch. I had fun looking for optional paths to try to find every secret in the game :)
Simple but quite nice :)
A simple but well-executed idea! The level design is clever! I don't know why, but I love dying in this game xD
Fun little platformer, good idea to make the more challenging path optional with some collectible but I would have love to see some checkpoints has some jump are really tough to make !
Nice platformer ! The visual is cool
A few small bugs to fix but it's not a big deal
Well done for the work :)
Epic game, very nice the way you scaled the challenge and added the optional collectables, sadly on the last level I just couldnt power through there was a drop down to the platform blind thing I had to do that I failed each time. Only complaints I'd say often it's hard to scale bigger size when you are touching something but you have enough space. That's about it, very nice effort.
Another fellow Godoter, cheers!!
Great game overall, I love platformers, as you can probably tell by my own game. Its a little too punitive tho, for not having any checkpoints. Still, great submission, congrats!
Very nice platformer, the growing mechanic is used very nicely with the level design! This game is a bit similar to mine but i didn't get to use the scaling mechanic in the level design since i didn't have enough time to implement the other mechanics, so i just made the level design a bit universal 😅
Nice platformer ! The visuals are cute, the theme is well used, the platforming is nice without being frustrating, well done :)
The scaling mechanics weren't working for me, but a cute enjoyable platformer none the less!
hi hi thank you for the feedback! the scaling mechanic only unlocks at level 3, i realized i never added that to the description so thank you for pointing it out <3
very fun game, enjoyed it alot! and of course, loved the game jam bugs that come with it
(stuck in a wall)
noooooooo poor little guy (thank you for the feedback im glad you enjoyed it!)
Cute game! I'm not very good at platforming so I got stuck on the second level.
Can't get past second level either! The ceiling is too low for me to jump, maybe I'm missing something.
cool platformer! I like the start-coin like collectables!
I quite liked the game! A fun take on a platformer! Maybe it's the completionist in me, but I loved the little bits of extra challenge you added in! Lacks some polish, especially with blue zone mechanics on the later levels, but what gamejam game doesn't lack some? Good god though some of those jumps were tight. I think the final jump on the last level gave me Mario Kaizo PTSD. (I'm into it oops)
Some feedback:
- More clear indication of what exactly a death zone is would definitely be good. I did have a bug too where the death zone didn't trigger and I got stuck, but that happens. I think it was level 2, but I couldn't quite tell that there was ground near the bottom of the screen.
- I think some more guidance for some of the mechanics would be good in the level design. On the final level, I was just spamming grow and shrink to get past the blocks above you in the blue zone. It took me a lot of trial and error to figure out how to build momentum to clear that consistently.
thank you so much for the detailed feedback, im super glad you enjoyed it. i struggle to do some of the jumps lmao and ive been repeatedly playing it XD
yeahhhh if i had more time i would have loved to properly use the tileset i made but i kinda ran out of time when implementing it and only got the first level to use part of it, there was supposed to be a purple water texture in the pits you get killed in.
thank again <3
