How does your game fit the theme?
A composer is lucidly dreaming as his doodled sheet music. Escape the music scale, while "scaled" down to the same size as the doodles!

I really like the idea and the art, but I found the camera very frustrating.
Really cool idea! I think this game would be most fun when you are moving fast quickly dodging and reacting to the notes, but like others have pointed out, this is hard due to the camera. I also think that the gameplay feels almost separate from the theming? It really felt like this was going to have to do something with rhythm going in, and honestly, I think incorporating rhythm elements would really improve the feel of the game and add a ton of depth. Overall, great work, especially on that doodle style!
Solid game! I'm sure this isn't anything you haven't already heard, given the number of comments already, but the camera should definitely be zoomed out more so you can see where you're going. It should also track the character much faster (or even just not be smooth at all) so that your character isn't on the far right of the screen when you're moving forward. Both of these changes would make it much more enjoyable to play!
Aside from that, nice work!
I like the art style you went with, though the camera should go further ahead of the character to be able to see what's coming.
Interesting idea. You should zoom the character out a little bit.
It is a nice, simple, and cute game. It's not to play for a long time, it reminded me of the little game of the navigator when you don't have internet. It's fun, but as a comment, I could say that it doesn't have an incentive to go fast. You can go slow and pass it. I didn't do it because I was too anxious, but it's nice! The music was very funny XD
OK that really felt like Scott Joplin vs. the world....Clever and cute and what a learning curve. Playability would increase if you zoomed out just a bit on the character.
Echoing the comments that say the camera rendered this harder than it needed to be (not knocking you for it, otherwise I'd be throwing stones in glass houses) but the art and aesthetic is really charming and this hits a Sonic style "once you know the level, you can just TEAR through" point after a couple attempts.
The running speed is way too much, especially considering that when i run the camera lags behind so i basically have no visibility ahead, so the only way to not run into stuff is to quickly tap-tap-tap D and it wasn't very enjoyable for me. (I you can find the time i would be happy if you took a look at my game and rated it)
Very cute character! I wonder if the level could be designed to make you jump on beat with the music and go up/down based on where the song is in the future
I love the artwork and the concept. The music was awesome.. I love the saloon piano. It would have been nice to hear different pieces but nice job overall!
I love the drawn style, reminds me of flash games (which I love) I don't think there are enough games out there with this type of art! The character is able to go down enough to fall out of the world so watch out for that!
Lovely game and idea! But like the rest said, it would be great if the speed of the character was a bit slower and the camera was zoomed out. But still, great job!
Cute game - think it would be better if it were zoomed out then I could route plan and try to go fast, each level feels like an ordeal that you are thankful is over afterwards as its punishing.
The game wanted you to go fast but then in turn demands that you are careful as the notes hit boxes are pretty large and unforgiving.
So I would either reduce the player speed and make it about care or give the player more of a look at the level and allow them to try to go fast. (auto running may fit too)
Would like a variety of music too as music is the key theme here.
Overall it feels fine to play but as a few problems for me.
The art style is charming and I like the hand drawn aesthetic a lot
But for your first jam it's great and hopefully you learned lots (that's what they are all about!)
Well done on completing and submitting 👍
very cute and fun game, i agree with the other comments about the speed of the character but overall amazing job!! :D
What a pleasant game! the art is really cute and it's amazing that this was the first game of a two person team done in only 96 hours. Only note is maybe the character's top speed is a touch too fast. Kudos to your team!
the camera work isn't the best but the rest is awesome. Theme isn't that intuitive but Props for the Main Idea.
Had to drop a comment on top of you mentioned on Discord and what else has already been mentioned. While I quite like the scrapbook style of the game and the color scheme is very evocative of a primary school classroom, I'm pretty sure musical notes aren't usually that small when they're on sheet music.
Nevertheless, completing your first game jam is a huge achievement and one heck of a learning experience and I hope you two continue to develop games!
Thanks again for all your helpful feedback :) they're definitely not that small in real sheet music, but due to the zoom of the camera, we made them smaller. I'm excited to make adjustments to the game based on our feedback. Hopefully once the camera is zoomed out, we can make the music notes more accurate. Thank you!! We're very appreciative !
