Neat little game. The controls felt responsive, although the game did slow to a halt sometimes when I became big and broke through blocks.

What a cool little game! I loved the added extra of the hidden paths and pickups. I got frustrated on the last level though, the 1 gap jumps (Only one 1 hight corridors where you have to jump) seem a bit too punishing. Also I was struggling a bit with the fact that you can only scale up of you have enough space width wise, e.g. when you are standing next to a wall on your right you can't scale up, I feel like the game should just check if there is enough space in the other direction and then push you accordingly.

A small note, you should look into setting your rendering to nearest, to avoid getting blurry pixels (on the platforms it is very visible)

Enough complaining though, I think you made a really cool platformer with a cool mechanic! I really enjoyed it! Well done!

Realy nice little game, loved the main mechanic! Good job :D

Nice little game for 48 hours! Really cool TRIPLE use of the theme,  for creativity. The only thing i would criticize is that i didn't LOVE the style, i think that's most likely sacrificed for the creative use of the theme as it looks a bit strange with the golden scales yk. But overall solid game, interesting use of theme, or should i say THEMES lmao.

This is a really smooth, fun platformer for only being made in 48 hours! Like others have said, the coyote timer may need a bit of a buff to make some of the later jumps, but I still really enjoyed it. Nice work!

great work for a short timeframe  like this but the game is working and the platformer is fun so good job (you might need a bit of optimisation but that's okay !)

Really impressive work for 48 hours!

Great theme integration, I really like the idea of a scaling character in a platformer, and there's a good number of levels exploring that concept. The branching paths and hidden collectables are a really nice touch too.

The web version seems to lag a bit when a new particle is emitted, you mentioned in the description that you're still new to Godot, so just for the future Godot currently doesn't automatically cache particles in web games which is causing the lag spikes. To fix this, you need to create your own system, and for game jams that can be as simple as an off screen node that holds a copy of all your particle emitters which are set to fire at the start of the game. It's not the best system, I wouldn't use it for any larger games, but it works great for something made over a weekend and keeps the in-game lag spikes to a minimum.

oh wow tysm! ill definitely look into doing this in future, i know the particles were causing issues so knowing a possible cause and solution is great!! <3

Amazing work for being done in 48 hours! Congrats!
As some other comments said, I would add/increase the coyote timer to make it a little bit easier on the longer jumps. It wasn't too difficult on the first 5 levels, but on lvl 6 having no checkpoint and multiple difficult-to-time jumps made that level extremely hard.
Overall really nice game! Good job!

This is a great little game for a solo entry made in 48 hours! Unfortunately, I kept having trouble on one of the jumps in level 2, but the art looks quite nice. The game definitely would have benefited from grabbing some free game music online to set the atmosphere.

First off, great job on this platformer! The scaling mechanic really adds a unique twist to the gameplay, and it’s used cleverly in the level design. I loved how the game encourages players to explore and find optional collectibles by taking on more challenging paths—such a nice touch!

I did find some of the jumps a bit tough, especially without checkpoints, which can be a bit punishing for less experienced players. Adding a bit of coyote time could help make those tricky jumps feel more forgiving. This jump on only the second level felt pretty brutal. I died here so many times before I got it just right.

Overall, though, this was a really fun experience, and the visuals were super cute. Keep up the awesome work! Thanks for sharing your game!

Cute game! I especially like the fact that you've included some extra content/challenge in the levels. That's usually what really make a game go from good to great. Nicely done!

Very enjoyable,a background music would make this even better

This is really incredible for 48 hours! Really cool and enjoyable game :)

I'm impressed you got everything done in 48 hours when making that many levels! Increasing jump height when you get smaller is a welcome addition too.

Somehow I got the game crashing at level 3 when I tried increasing in size in order to break the blocks. (or I assume that's what I'm supposed to do) Later I'll give it another attempt to see if I can get past it. As a suggestion I agree with another commenter that the "head-bump" jumps can be annoying, but I did get the hang of them in the end. Adding  a more clear distinction between normal air and a death zone would be another suggestion.

The little guy jumps so high xD very nice game with a consistent colour palette, good gameplay and fun platforming.  Would have been nice if there was some background music in the levels, but other than that the scaling is fun to use and I like the level design! Very well made considering you also only used 48 hours. Best of luck in the jam :))

Alright, I just finished it, and I have to say, this really has potential. I like the fact that you can scale yourself up and down. This can potentially lead to some really interesting level design.

A few suggestions:

- Maybe decrease the gravity a little bit; the player feels a bit heavy.

- Some sections were a bit frustrating because you would just bonk your head and fall to your demise.

Besides that, it really is a good start for something that could be awesome, and I don't know why, but the death animation combined with the sound effect really made me giggle.

Good job!

Developer (1 edit)

hey! thanks so much for the feedback, i will definitely be changing up the level bit to just finish off the project once the jam is over to turn the frustrating jumps into more optional sections for collectables, there are some that i can see are just super annoying for no reason :P

also im glad you enjoyed the death animation XD

A standard and good platformer game and somehow similar to my game. Good job.

Cute little platformer! I like how the player has to make use of the differents sizes to get through the levels. The platformer physics are pretty good, but I felt that the interaction with the blue zone was a little inconsistent. It would be nice to have a little bit of coyote time to make some jumps easier and less precise.
The collectible are a nice touch. I had fun looking for optional paths to try to find every secret in the game :)

Simple but quite nice :)
