Cute little auto-battler! Though I will say, those bugs didn't stand a chance against my combo of a potato with 7 shield and 12 health, and my carrot with 8 (!!) attack damage :P

Fun game jam entry, would love to see this expanded further with both more veggies and bugs!

Really entertaining game, you could expand it because it's a great concept. I could see it working as a small mobile game

Great concept. Youve done well to accomplish this but I agree with others, needs more content which is a good thing. Like the artwork too. Congrats

Simple but enjoyable turn based roguelike. It was fun to create my carrot of doom. As others have said,  some more varied enemies or units would be great.

My only gripe is hat the game fully covers the screen on the default view. This made it hard to play since the itch.io buttons overlapped the start combat button. I had to zoom out. It's probably best to make the game window size such that there is sufficient game for the website buttons,

Developer

Yeah I had some difficulties with scaling once I hit the WebGL build. Unfortunately my fixes were near the end of the last night so I had the feeling there'd be some issues... Thanks for playing!

Simple and fun! I wish it had a little more variety (maybe boss enemies every once in a while or something) but the core is there and it's very enjoyable for what it is.

cute art style! hope to see more of this!

Really cute game and style... Could use a sound menu (I also didn't add one T_T) but otherwise it was fun to play

I love the art style on this one! Such a simple yet well though game loop. It's very interesting to try to strategize, choosing what unit to keep, to level up or position. It would be cool if you had to fight some sort of boss once in a while to keep the player invested.

Developer

I wanted so bad to add bosses but I think on the last day, my body was telling me to sleep... Thanks for playing!

Cutle little game with solid gameplay and neat graphics. Great work!

Fun little gameplay loop with adorable art. It's lacking a little depth, but that's honestly excusable for a game jam game. Great work!

Very cool game! had some problems at first with the html5 format, but it as quickly fixable. Very fun and creative game, I'd love to see this expanded, keep it up!

First of all, very neat gameplay loop, I really enjoyed having to coordinate my team with backline attackers that have high attack and low defense, and frontline attackers to tank. Only real issues I had were that the "start combat" button displays right next to the itch.io ui when you aren't full screened, and when you pick a new unit from the rewards, and then choose to deny it, it just moves on and you get 0 rewards. I would've liked a downloadable version as well. I also think that EXP share could be a rare, but very helpful upgrade, and I don't think a max-level animation is really necessary after the first time as it just kinda slows the pace for something you already know. That said, these are all nitpicks, and this could absolutely be the basis for a great roguelike with really cool combat mechanics, and where it is now is very fun! Props to you!

Thanks so much for all the kind words!

Very nice game. Especially like the art. : ) However, on my end the window size seems to be set too large and going fullscreen hides the start combat button.  : |

Clearly, the true "scaling" is the steep difficulty curve! (not a complaint) I had a lot of fun hammering out a couple of rounds, and working through the calculus of who to draw out when. Some more juice would be nice in animations and stuff, as those help with engagement during an autobattle, otherwise it's really good!

Theme connection seems a bit loose, but I did like the game a lot. Fun upgrading the units and choosing between the upgrades/modifiers

Developer

Haha, yeah originally I had so many ideas floating around about how I could emphasize the need to build your units in a way that they scale to the late game challenges... but overscoping my old friend. Had to cut out a lot of ideas unfortunately.

score at the end would be nice.

Developer

Haha funny thing... I originally had the makings of an online scoreboard but my NETcode broke... Thanks for playing though!

very pretty game, found myself playing it for ages. one thing i would like to change would be an indicator for the round ending and also little descriptions for what defense/attack/heath mean for a new player. amazing game

Cute sprites with a satisfying game loop! I could see this system being in some slay the spire like game-- Please revisit this after the jam, so fun! Minor nitpick is that the text is a bit small, especially for the health, but again, just a nitpick! Aside from that, if you have the time, I'd be thankful if you could take a looksy at our game!
