Fun. I liked the frequent power ups (power downs?).
In a conventional survival game there are rewards for surviving and killing enemies, but there are also consequences like sustaining damage. It feels to me that there should be some consequence for not dying in this reversal. I don't know what that might be... just food for thought.

Developer

That's interesting, we definitely had some trouble on how to make the game feel rewarding haha. The game loop can definitely improve more in that regard.

Thanks for the feedback and playing!

Feels like somewhat obvious idea but It really didnt came in to my mind during game jam. Anyway nicely executed and had more fun than playing vampire survivors.

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!

I liked how the game develops and how you reversed vampire survivors, congratulations

I was also thinking of a reverse Vampire survivors. But your thoughts have gone in a more unusual direction, which is great. good job <3

Fun game, I had a good time!  I really like the Vampire Survivors aspect of it, and think it made for a very interesting take on the genre!

Developer

Thank you so much for your comment! :)

Fun game, managed to beat it! I was a little bit confused why I would look up and see my health reset untiI I realised it's cookie clicker mentality where leveling up helps you take more damage so it's a balancing act. I enjoyed playing it a lot though, nice work!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing :)

This guy is a hard to kill one! Nice take on Vampire Survivor. :) I was a bit confused at first on what was healing, and what was hurting (the heal sound effect is a bit ambiguous). The fact that the health is reset at each level up also made me wonder first why I wasn't making any progress. But eventually I understood, and it became quite fun to try to take as most damage as possible (some power ups being more helpful than other for that). Overall it was a cool game to play.

Also I love the music! Really catchy.

Developer

Thank you! I didn't have as much time to change the heal up sfx but i completely agree haha. I also didn't get to mix the sound effects and the music, so the music is way currently way louder than the sound effects which makes it harder to understand what does what.

Thank you for playing, also glad you liked the music! :D

A fun twist on vampire survivors! I can definitley see this game getting a proper release with some extra development time.

Developer

Thank you!

Finally a bullet hell that I can beat! Options for auido would be nice tho. But nice game overall

Developer(+1)

We wanted to make an options menu but we didn't end up doing it because of time constraints :(
Thank you for playing!

I'm thoroughly enjoying this game as it has a nostalgic vibe. However, the art has room for improvement, and the game could offer more ways to self-damage.

During my experience playing GMTK23 games, I came across some counter-roguelike games that needed more clarity and made little sense due to their traditional design.

Nonetheless, I am grateful that you shared this game with me, and I hope my feedback can be beneficial. Thank you.

we were a team with no artists, and also we contributed  to the art of the game, explaining the difference in art styles and quality haha. thanks for the feedback and playing the game!

You're actually a sadist. "Want to actually achieve your goal? Gotta do nothing and be bored. Want to play? Well, let me put health pickups and healing arrows in your way (thought magnets are good, huh?)."

:D It  works surprisingly well. Unfortunately, it also shows why the whole theme is even an idea in the first place: Reversing some game design decisions just leads to some serious problems. Such as standing around being the best strategy. But with some massaging of mechanics, this idea could actually make for a cool game! Certainly stays true to its name :P

Developer(+1)

yeah lol, we wanted to make the game a little annoying on purpose but also winnable and have some progression so the player can win eventually. overall i think with the given mechanics we have good balance, but more interesting mechanics could have made for more diverse gameplay. unfortunately didn't end up having time to make those :D

Thank you!

This is my kind of bullet hell! Great job.

Developer

thank you!

Cool game. I loved the upgrade system to make yourself more easily killable. I think the biggest problem this game had is the fact that once you want to die, standing still seemed to be the best strategy, which isn't that fun. Other than that I really enjoyed it.

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! :)

We noticed the standing still strategy towards the end of the game jam but didn't have time to change it haha.

Thanks for the feedback!

Great entry to the newly created "Vampire Non-Survivor" genre :D.

Very fun and satisfying to both die and level up. I do think it shouldn't always fully heal on level up as that turns it into a very frustrating choice of staying low level and waiting long times to die or keep regenerating and eventually die quicker. Maybe just a small heal on level up could be sufficient to allow for a better balance?

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and for the feedback!

The healing is not full, but we will take it into consideration.

The idea behind it was to make the player level up and to die at "late" game in order to have a bit more gametime and view content

Submitted(+1)

Alright yeah, that's a fair point! I did really enjoy the 1% crit chance upgrade, which is definitely a late game perk, only coming to fruition after a longer session, so that does at least compliment each other well.

Awesome concept! Could tell a lot of thought went into this one!

Haha, yeah. He is one tough dude. Surviving all of that...
You should've seen the things he survived during all the play tests we performed prior to the release xD

Thanks for playing :)

I quite enjoyed this. The concept is very good -- trying to avoid getting healed is interesting, and leads to some fun mechanics. It seemed to me as if the arrows healed me, which was a cool touch, but also not immediately obvious (I also didn't immediately notice the healing items, but that's just my bad; they're very obvious).

I particularly liked that levelling up healed you, which gives a nice effect that's usually in management games -- using your "money" to get more "money" making things. In this case, levelling up and healing so you can take more damage. Clever.

I would have liked to see some more variety in upgrades (it was limited by the time constraints, I imagine), but also some way to make standing still not a viable strategy. I guess the timer does that? But perhaps having the experience come from something else than picking up stuff? E.g. over time by itself? But it might be fine as is as well.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback!

The standing still concept is actually a nice touch, we will consider it.
