Beautifully presented - cute frogs and a lovely art style. And a fun little game - it's tricky to keep track of them once there's at least 2 frogs on screen. Well done
Thanks so much for the kind words! :)
You're welcome, congrats on the top 100 and the mention in Mark's video
Finally took the time to play this gime right before the votes end! The scope is PERFECT, you managed to create a little game with a simple and yet really effective concept, the generative music makes for great replayability to create balance with the little scope, and the art is ADORABLE! Clearly one of the most polished games I saw - if not the most! Well done, I love it <3
Oh my gosh, thanks so much for being our 100th rating in the nick of time! And, of courses, for all your kind words — so glad you enjoyed the game so much! :)
My favorite game of the jam so far! I love the dynamic music, I love the artstyle, I love the difficulty curve that's tough but not too punishing.
My one qualm is that because of the click & drag mechanics, it's kind of not worth it to use all three platforms? Like, if I hold click on one platform, it's much faster for me to whip my mouse to the other side of the screen to catch a frog than it is to let go of one lily pad and grab another.
Thanks so much for the kind words! And yeah, agreed on your critique — another commenter suggested making frogs fall off if there's more than one on a pad, which I thought was an excellent idea and one that would have been good to implement with more time. Thanks for sharing!
Very elegant and smooth! Love it !
Thank you! :)
This game is beautifully made, it made me feel things that I didn't know I am capable of. The music, ambience, sfx, the art, the cute little froggies, heck even the lilypads. They are all tied together in perfect harmony. This was definitely a masterpiece, thanks for making this game and submitting this wonderful lovely game. Really makes my day even better <3
Aww, thank you for such a lovely, kind review! So glad you enjoyed it <3
definitely a 5, 5, 5 from me :p I want to see more of your work in the future hehe
Woah, I'm very happy our game offered you some joy. Thank you very much for your feedback!
What a delightful and cohesive game. It took me a while to realize I was supposed to be helping the frogs to eat the flies, but I loved it even before that when my only goal was to keep the little guys/girls alive and happy. The art is beautiful, and I love the generative music. I haven't seen hardly any games that do that, game jam or otherwise, but I feel like it adds so much when everything meshes into one beautiful melody.
Thank you for letting me pet the frogs.
Thank you for such a warm, lovely, and well-written comment! Your note about it taking a while to realize that you're supposed to be helping the frogs eat the flies is an insightful one — I think if we had more time, adding that to the mini tutorial would have been great. Thanks again for the feedback! Added your game to my to-play list :)
Thank you for taking the time to pet them!
I was hesitant to give indications to the player about the flies. I like the feeling of discovery through experimentation, and try to keep a balance between guiding the players toward an objective, and letting them figure out the rules by playing. There's always the danger of getting them lost for too long! At least the game was still enjoyable for you. :) Thank you for your feedback!
Really nice pretty game!
Thank you! :)
Thanks, happy you liked it!
This is amazing, my favorite entry so far! The art style is splendid, I like what you did with the music, and the animations are flawless. It's a very soothing experience, yet with a well balanced challenge. I was so sad when I lost a cute froggy, but I'm glad I didn't give up so I can pet all of them at the end! I also love the title screen and the animation you made for the thumbnail. It's quite addictive, amazing job!
Thanks so much, Cléo; I appreciate the kind words! There are a lot of fantastic games in this jam, so it's flattering you enjoyed ours so much. Put your game on my to-play list! :)
Thank you! I'm glad that you enjoyed the game, and kept playing to the end. :)
Very cute game, and it was very fun to play (I can see my kids playing a full version of this game, all day long!).
Definitely looking for a full game, even for smartphones would work. Nice job!
Thanks so much, Carlos; I super appreciate you taking the time to play and comment! :)
One if the intention for the design was indeed to be close to a mobile game style. I heard ut kinda run well on mobile already, maybe I should try an Android export?
Really happy that you enjoyed the game, and I hope your kids will eventually. ^^ Thank you for your comment!
Yes! Android would be perfect. I will follow you both on itch and wait for an update :P
Thanks for creating this :)
This game just oozes charm and personality in an effortless way, just immaculate vibes all around! Actually nailed the balance too, the platforms are forgiving enough that you always feel in control while being juuust small enough to actually lose frogs. Great pacing, great art, great music, I honestly have no critiques. Great job you guys.
Aww, thank you; that's super kind of you to say! I'm glad you enjoyed the game :)
There has been some experimentations for the platforms size, I'm glad that the end decision suited your experience! Thank you very much for your kind feedback.
Wow, this game is really very well polished and the idea is very unique. I enjoyed very much the gameplay and the music was fitting very well (it changed when I was moving the pads, that's cool). Well done.
Hope you have time to play my game too :)
In a jam with over 6000 entries, it really means a lot for our game to be qualified as "unique"! Thank you very much for your feedback. I'll play your entry as soon as I have the time. :)
The game is beautiful in the way it looks and sounds.
I can't say if the role reversal has been at play at all, but I did enjoy the game
Thank you! There are two role reversals in the game: one is the main mechanic of "playing" as the platforms instead of playing as the frogs, a subversion of typical gameplay, and two, at the end of the game, when you reverse from that and can control the frogs instead of the platforms — a quite literal role reversal :)
Well, so long as you enjoyed it. ^^ The initial idea was "platformer wher the platforms are the interactive elements (instead of the avatar)". As I elaborated the design, I eventually decided to get rid of any scrolling, and also to involve several avatars to create a progressive challenge. It resulted in the game as it is now, which is actually closer to existing action-puzzle than a platformer when you think about it. While the theme was the root from which emerged the idea, the final game might have landed on a place of its own.
In any case, thank you for your feedback!
Sooo cute! Like this game!
Thank you!! :)
Thanks, glad you liked it!
A very cute game (specially frogs) ! Music perfectly work, I love it. There is good and fun !
Congrats to the team !
Thank you very much! :)
I absolutely loved the art and music in this! The sound design was really good -loved the accordion sound when moving the lily pads and the frogs were super cute!! xD I like that you could pet them at the end too -excellent use of the theme and fantastic work! :D
The idea to interact with the frog at the end came during development (when I realized I could reverse the roles again). I'm glad I was able to add it to the final game. ^^ Thank you very much for your comment!
absolutely stunning visuals and audio. an absolute joy to play! i also love the way there is no "game over" screen with a restart, you just press and a fresh frog pops up, that's brilliant design!
I like solutions that are both elegant and lazy to implement (why restarting the game when I could just pop the frog back in? :p). Thank you for your kind words!
Loved the way the music is incorporated into the game! It goes so well with the art style too. Beautiful
Thank you! The game was designed with the music in mind, I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
Absolutely insanely good presentation, the music and the art is so good for just 48h, actually just good in general. Plus the sound effects fit well.
The only problem I have with the game is that it's too easy, as long as you have one frog you can easily go on forever, and there is no scoring system so you end up playing for a while until you get bored.
Thank you for the kind words! If I'm understanding your critique correctly, there is actually clear progressive difficulty measured by the XP meter up top, and a definite ending to the game with a bonus feature afterwards. Did you only ever get to one frog? Or am I misunderstanding you altogether 🤔
I just meant that I found the game easy enough to the point where I could just play forever at which point I had to end the game myself. I did get to multiple frogs but I personally would have prefered if the game had defined an end-state for me rather than me having to suicide my frogs because I had been playing for too long.
Truly not trying to be pedantic, but there is a defined end-state once you fill the XP bar after your third frog, with a "Thanks for playing!", an end to being able to move the lily pads, and a bonus feature afterwards 😅 When I've watched players play this game, reaching the end generally takes them only a few minutes. Are you saying you reached this and it wasn't a clear enough ending? Just trying to understand what your critique is.
Oh I didn't realise it was 3 frogs to win. I just sort of focused on one frog because I thought it was about how long you could survive. So maybe the real critique is the goal wasn't clear? Or maybe I just missed it >:\
I haven't heard goal clarity being an issue in other comments, but I'm curious what could be done to make the goal/progression clearer... food for thought!! I appreciate you taking the time to clarify your issue :)
As Jaylus already pointed out, there is indeed an end state. ^^ But it's only implicitly indicated (through the progress bar and the music). The game is not about "how long can you survive", but "how far can you get" (by feeding as many frogs as possible). You make an interesting point, since this goal is apparently not enough clearly indicated.
Anyway, it's cool that you still enjoyed the presentation! Thank you very much for your feedback.
What an amazing little game. The sounds and art are beautiful! The little details like how moving the platforms or the frogs jumping influence the soundscape add a whole new layer. Really well done definitely one of the most beautiful games I have played this jam!
Thanks so much! There are a lot of beautiful games in this jam, so that's super kind of you to say :)
Really sweet of you to say! :) This game is all about pleasant details, I'm happy to know that they're appreciated.
This game is so pretty! There are so many design decisions that went into making this game that just make it perfect, from the musical Lilypad’s to the slowly increasing count of frogs, It’s really well made!
A super zen game with stunning visuals :]!
Had a lot of fun playing this ♡
Aww, thanks so much for taking the time to play and comment, Paris! 💕 Glad you enjoyed :]
