A well-thought-out puzzle game!

It's a well-polished puzzle game with a unique idea. Compare to other puzzle games, I love the use of letters to give you items needed to get to your objective. I'm amazed at the hard work put into the letters. The only thing I would like to see is a little tutorial information within the game rather than on the page since it's a downloadable game. Above all, it's a great game. Well done!

Just great!

I had a lot of fun playing this. The puzzles are good, you came up with interesting items to conjure.

The art-style and SFX is really good. I find the music a bit too repetitive but that's not a biggie. My game doesn't even have any sound.

I love the whole package, everything works really well together. I love how smooth it feels to shoot the bow!

Really cool game!

Congrats on an awesome submission!

So much personality in that lil bouncy mage. And to string words together to help you through. It's like Scribblenaut. Very inventive and creative, I love it! Great work ♥!

This game is oozing style and creativity. I think you solved the problem of why I find Scribblenauts boring by having me figure out a solution from a limited supply! Great job!

I like the clue/puzzle approach to this - unique and fun!

Super fun game!

The mechanic of making things out of letters is really cool and is implemented in a way that doesn't make it annoying at all to use. The artstyle is cheerful, consistent, and works well with the puzzles it expresses.

Though not too hard, all the puzzles are interesting to complete while managing the limited resources given to the player. I would love to see more complicated puzzles with these same mechanics and items in the future!

This was really fun, enjoyed it a lot!  Would've liked to have seen more words/objects that we could make with those letters, but I can see the scope getting out of hand quickly :D

It was pretty tough getting just the 6 items done but it would definitely be nice to have more!

Really fun mechanic! Reminded me of old school adventure games where you had to write out what you wanted to do! I found the dark level a bit clunky, but got to the end! I echo the ask for more items!

Developer

Everyone wants more items haha. Glad you liked it :D

This is very good! Very unique! I wish more time had been spend coming up with items for more possible words that can be spelled with the given tiles, even if they were completely useless items.

I got stuck on this level:

It seemed a little unfair, or maybe it was a bug, that I could use a boat to weigh down a button in the previous level, but not in this one. I could not figure out how to hold both buttons down at the same time like I did in a previous level.

Overall I'm really happy with this entry! Nice work!

Hi There! Thanks for your feedback! We would have loved to put in more items. We only had 48 hours to develop though, so we cut down to the bare bones, focusing on function over everything else. Some items which we designed with potential functions but left on the cutting room floor in development include:

  • axe,
  • pole,
  • sword,
  • torch,
  • jar

I'm kinda glad you got stuck? That means that there's something to figure out here (critics can let me know if that makes it a GOOD puzzle). I've been informed boats can't be used to activate buttons, and this is reflected in my own testing. All the buttons in levels are designed to be pressed using either the box or the pot (or both).

This room has 2 buttons which need to be pressed to progress. It was designed so you had to sacrifice your lamp in order to press both buttons.

The concept is unique and interesting, and it is wonderfully executed!
The art and music is also great but the music gets repetetive soon (which is understandable as it is made for a game jam!)

I would love to see a full game with more levels using this mechanic!

Overall an awesome game! Great job!

The only game so far that my partner came to watch me play. She thought the game was cute and good, and I agree.

I think for a post jam version, it could be fun to have some other non-gameplay words in there played for laughs. This is already very charming, and I would be interested in seeing where you might take it in the future.

Developer

Thanks! I'd love to try and get every word option doing something, even if it's just something silly.

Oh no sorry about that. Would you know where it crashed? I'll have to look into that.

Submitted(+1)

I think I made the word “bot” by accident, and the game crashed, not sure if that’s consistent though.

Developer

Thanks for letting me know. I don't think the word "bot" is the issue but we'll keep an eye out and see if anyone can replicate the crash.

Really cool concept! I liked it! It felt like Scribblenauts, but had a cool puzzle aspect with the limit on letters and objects allowed! Really great job! I noticed your end credits screen had a glitch or two. One, the audio I am not sure if it is supposed to sound that way, or if there are 2 instances of the audio going on. Second, since the background does not cover the whole screen, some black is showing on the sides, and when moving up and down the sides, it has an old Windows XP art glitch lol. Also, the player is not bound to layout, at least vertically. I forgot about the sides, but yea, just a couple minor things to watch out for lol. I didn't let those affect my rating, don't worry lol, very minor and only seen at the end of the game. Love the level design! I would love to see more levels of this game! Really cool mechanic and idea! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I had a room that sets up the music and other bits of the game at the start of the game then immediately moves to the next room. The guys took a copy of that room when creating the credits room and didn't realise it would cause issues and didn't have time to properly test it. It's really easy to fix but people have had a lot of fun messing with it's bugginess haha.

This game was awesome!! The concept immediately grabbed me, and there was a fun variety of puzzles that kept the game fresh and entertaining. It had a Zelda feel to it, and the use of letters was a fun spin. One of the best games I played this jam, great job!

Really clever, and its impressive that I didn't run into any words that didn't work (although I wasn't trying to find any).  I think you executed this idea very well, you should be super proud!

Submitted(+2)

Great puzzle game. Figuring out what words you need to build was quite fun. Level difficulty was good and I loved the different items. Shows great potential.

Submitted(+3)

This is a very unique idea, really has potential to be fleshed out further with more levels and more possible words. I understood the main mechanic instantly, but I had some trouble figuring out how the 2nd item slot worked. The puzzles really give the mechanic a chance to shine!
