Very original idea! It's funny to be on the other side of the Tetris. Keep creating games!

Submitted

The game, at least the early stages, are a lot more about just keeping up with the various players, and isn’t as much about selecting intelligent pieces.

I could see how this would make a good party game, tho.

Developer

I was thinking the same as I was playing. But I'm also not that good at tetris and not able to multitask. Other

people have blown my score away with over 10000 points, more than double my best score, and you can't do that unless there's a big strategy element

Really enjoyed this - one of my favorite submissions so far. The only thing that wasn't clear was the color matching requirement. It's OK to not spell it out so long as the player starts on Puzzle where you're not competing against chaos and assuming a misclick. Adding a line saying "try Puzzle first" might be enough to solve it.

Developer

Hmm, that's a good thought, thanks for the suggestion.

Submitted

Super cool! Never knew I needed to see what goes on behind the scenes of a tetris game.

Submitted

Very cool concept! It's a lot of fun and it can really quickly get out of control. I would love a co-op version where one player is the fairy and the other is the regular player.

Good job!

Developer

I think this could really shine with 4 or more players! I worry only 2 would be too easy, though. But as soon as someone suggested it this would literally be an incredible coop experience and I really want to make it possible

Submitted

Very impressive concept, and a very clever implementation. Excellent work.

I felt like that kid coaching the other kid playing at the arcade when i was young(not that i actually did) haha. Great concept, great game!

This is one of my favorite submissions I've seen! Very, very cool. The gameplay is perfectly frantic, and the color rule is just the right amount of brain bending as you scramble to drop in the pieces. Well done!

I was looking forward to this game after seeing it on twitter, not disappointed!

Now I understand why there are "droughts" on the Classic Tetris competitions. xD
Had a little trouble when colors started appearing, thought I had to match the colors.

Developer

Haha, yeah! People are always mad about RNG but they never think about how hard they have it.

The color matching came up because it would be impossible to see the same colored pieces against the grid. So I had the idea to turn it into a mechanic!

Submitted

That and always sending squares to one player is basically a free pass on that player's lines.

I had a lot of fun on the colorblind-puzzle mode, the others felt frustrating? (I'm very tired after the jam, this might have affected my perception of the other modes). I like the idea, but it seems really hard to find the right balance where it's still chaotic and you feel losing control, but is still engaging instead of frustrating. I might try it again tomorrow... I found myself getting into a fun rhythm, it feels like a game one could play for hours- In any case, the execution is really good, great job!

A minor thing; this is more of a problem to do with itch.io's interface, but on the web version the "check the GMTK's" label gets in the way of the rightmost blocks if I want to see the whole screen.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with a lot of your points. The colorblind mode started as the "original",  I didn't implement the feature until I starting adding polish and needed a way to make the blocks stand out against each other. So I had this idea which knocks out two issues at once!

Submitted

I see! It's interesting how a game's design changes as they're being developed, and this is a side most of us don't get to see when playing the end results. In terms of the colorful mode... It feels like my brain is wired to put things of a color in a box of the same color, which makes it really counterintuitive to avoid doing that, especially with time pressure. A bit like that challenge where you have to say the color of a word, the word being a different color.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, and I agree that it feels weird when part of the difficulty is fighting against your brain's wires. I think in an improved version I would revisit it.

I love behind the scenes stuff, and I plan on making a dev's commentary tonight about it. I had a lot of fun making it!

Submitted(+1)

So you would say that you're *not in control* when it comes to color matching? ;)

Submitted(+1)

Really cool concept, instructions were a bit confusing but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty fun! Not sure entirely how you managed to make this but it's incredible.

Submitted(+1)

Really nice outside-the-box thinking for the theme. Even more surprising how well it actually plays.

Submitted(+1)

Love this! So much attention to detail, everything has so much polish and fits together nicely.

Submitted

Well done! Sometimes it is hard to understand why i cannot place a piece where i where i want to

Developer

The rules are a player can only have one piece dropping, and that the colors cannot match

Submitted

Well done.

YOOOO THIS IS THE COOLEST THING

Me when I play Tetris: "Stupid computer keeps giving me bad pieces!"

Me when playing this: "Stupid players don't know how to use these pieces!"

Seriously, though, this is great.

Developer(+1)

"People are always mad about rng, but they never think about how hard the rng's job is!"

wasn’t this mentioned on the discord server as an idea that someone through out, not sure it just sounds familiar

Developer

It may have been. This is definitely an idea that could have been came up with independently. I didn't join the server until sunday morning, though.

cool, it’s a good idea, and you did it pretty well

Submitted(+1)

Cool idea being the meta player of tetris, great implementation as well. Awesome entry
