I love crows so damn much. It's always nice to see a 3D Project in a Game Jam. I had a small issue with the bow, it sometime would hit the skeleton and not deal damage. It would've been nice to see the coins and potions end up doing something, but I assume there are plans for Round 3. It's overall a great start the I really look forward too!

Its a solid game. I had some issues with the enemy AI for some reason when I shot them with my bow from a distance they got stuck and wouldnt attack me anymore. same with the boss I could just go behind him and one tap. I like that you free the animal but personally I wouldve liked if the crow was a bit more involved trougout the story.
Solid gameplay tho and fun overall good job!

Very fun game! I enjoyed shooting with a bow, though sometimes enemies heads deflect arrows ))))

And a very cute crow companion!

Developer(+1)

Yea their capsule colliders were not set to ignore collisions with arrows, unfortunately. I've since fixed that but I'm gonna wait until after the rating period to update it.

Developer

Besides that minor hiccup! Thank you for the positive words!

Submitted(+1)

It's not ruined fun for me )  You are welcome!

Submitted(+1)

The environment are really cool, especially the boss room. Good job on bow mechanics !

Submitted(+1)

Well done :) I really enjoyed this.

I don't know if there was a way to kill the boss type guy but apparently 20 arrows to the face was not it. Fortunately for me he could not jump over a largish step :)

This was a lot of fun. I hope you continue to develop it.

Developer

You should be able to take him out with a single headshot, not sure what's up with that. But I did mess up the collisions slightly so the arrow sometimes gets deflected by the character's overall capsule collider. The AI also did need a bit of work to allow them to step up and down large platforms. I did fix most of these cases after the jam, but I didn't feel right about updating my game after the submission period.

BTW thank you so much for playing! I really loved your game!

This is a gorgeous looking game; such an incredible upgrade from the first round. Small comment, when I was in front of the lever and the drawbridge, the “cage” was not evident to me. There is some box at the other end of the room and I tried shooting at that, hadn’t seen the “other cage” in the air.

Developer

Thanks for the heads up. I noticed that a lot of people didn't notice the cage on their first playthough resulting in a lot of people getting stuck :(

If I had the chance to redo that part I would have framed it in a way where the player is forced to acknowledge the cage before they progress, and maybe make it so that the cage is visible from where the player would be stuck at the drawbridge.

Minor hiccup aside, thank you so much for the kind words! I really enjoyed Turbo Duck, especially the storytelling which I found really moving.

This looks great & the story had my interest. It felt like you were just getting started and I'd love to see more. You've hit the projectile and animal criteria right on. The bow feels wonderful to shoot.

Like others have mentioned I think a little bit of audio would take it a long way.

Overall well done & bug free 👏

Developer

Yea. I had pretty ambitious plans for the audio but I spent waaaay too much time on the environment and then it was all a blur at the end there.

Submitted(+1)

Damn!  That was incredible!  Seriously, I dream of making something that good looking one day.  I couldn't believe how well it played in the web browser too.  Obviously, it still has some work to do: sounds, music, enemy ai.  But, what you have so far is terrific.  This better move on, because I want to play more of it.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much! Your game is next on my list, actually!

As I mentioned to Evengy, optimization was a massive challenge with a game this big. I think I spent over half of the time just optimizing and I still just scratched the surface.

Submitted(+1)

Just great! Looking forward for a full game if keep working on this <3

Too bad there is no audio, but that doesnt detract from the task.

Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Yea, I unfortunately had to make the conscious choice to forsake audio in order to keep the rest of the game intact. It was a difficult decision to make, but I stand by it.

First of all the environment and visuals are AMAZING. The visual style is so clean and pretty and the lighting was done very well too. I think that the requirements were addressed very well, the animal was fun and cute and the projectiles were also useful. I found the story interesting but it led me more to want more of the story rather than feeling like a complete narrative. This is an issue I have with several of the games continued from round 1 just because they weren't built initially with a story in mind. I liked the skill tree from round 1 and was a little bit sad it wasn't present, but I still enjoyed the combat more even if it was just the cooler enemies and fun ragdolls. I may have imagined you saying that there were going to be drop assassinations but I think that would be incredibly cool. I still dropped down on enemies to attack them anyway and that was pretty fun. I wish that the bow was a bit more useful for combat as it felt significantly worse than the dagger even if it just had no knockback. With the daggers knockback you weren't really punished for getting close to enemies anyway so there was no reason to stay far away. Overall, amazing job, hope you continue work. (:

Developer

Thank you so much for the super detailed comment.

I want to address the part where you mentioned that the story felt incomplete. It wasn't so much that I didn't think about the story from the beginning, so much as I really wanted to tell a full length story in this style but didn't have the time nor resources so I had to settle for a bite sized demo of that story.

I really appreciate the kind words about the environment and the visual style. I spent like 95% of the time on the environment and story alone before realizing that I would probably lose points if my enemies were just T posing skeletons. So the combat is still the jankiest part of the game by far.

I wish this game had audio :D it's very enjoyable, love the artstyle and while the gameplay is a bit basic at the moment, it has so much potential. But I'm a sucker for first person games like this, so don't listen to my complaints :D Storytelling was nicely done even without audio. Good stuff!

Developer

I loved your game as well. Definitely made me cry more than once.

Submitted(+1)

Very well done! I loved everything about this game. I think you nailed the task and all the required extras, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, fellow skeleton bro. I loved your game as well.

Submitted(+1)

I still remember your first version of the game and while it was more like an alpha build, this felt like an actual demo. I'm impressed how you managed to build this good-looking and -feeling 3D-game in the given time window. The story was also interesting and dark, the crow is awesome and I kinda want to know more about what had happened.

Developer(+1)

Thanks. I loved your cool math game. I can definitely see some huge potential for the game if you decided to go for a release on one of the those edu-game platforms. I've had some friends get some actually decent passive income from those.

Submitted(+1)

That's a good tip actually, I'm not sure if I have ever heard of edu-game platforms but it's not surprising if there aresome. I definitely gotta check that out. I probably should change my narrative before that tho, don't want kids to play games where you torture pigeons :')

Developer

Yea you could probably just soften it up and play down the pigeon torture a bit.

Was great to play on stream! Thanks for submitting, and sorry for the timezone! Please feel free to watch for comments there (around 02:00:06)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm sorry I didn't catch the stream, but it was fun to watch the vod! Thank you for the many kind words!

Submitted(+1)

No worries at all! Thanks for submitting your game, it was so cool to play and experience! Glad I managed to get to that room in the rafters in the end hehe

Developer(+1)

I'm glad I added some exploration bits like that, for players like you who like to go out of their way to find stuff.

Sorry about the coyote time, btw. I ran out of time and I was scrambling on the last day to add the AI, combat, and make sure everything worked for my submission.

Submitted(+1)

100%, so cool you had that chance to explore!

no worries at all! Would have tried once more probably and then searched somewhere else. Loved the text you showed up, helped the game feel alive accompanying my thoughts

Submitted(+1)

I love the outlines on the 3d models, this game has a very distinct style that i love, great job this feels like am entirely diffrent game than r1

Developer

Thank you so much, spooky. I loved your game as well. It really did bring me back to sonic days.

Submitted(+1)

The story and visuals are amazing. I completed the game 2 times to make sure I didn't miss anything. I didn't find a way through the locked doors so I might have done though. I thought the key would have been past the rafters but it wasn't but I liked exploring the levels. It's cool how you can jump on the chandelier, crawl through gaps and use a bow and arrow to shoot skeletons with and that last guy looks incredible!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much. I loved Ceph. You really don't know how to make a bad game, do you?

Submitted(+1)

This is a fine entry that takes on all three of round 2 conditions without holding back on any. It was enjoyable sneaking around and trying to gather pieces of the story. Btw that's some high quality outline shader as far as I can tell (I'm not very knowledgable on shaders) is it or code it is based on available online?

Developer

Thanks! Your game was super trippy. I loved it!

Submitted(+1)

amazing graphics and atmosphere, by far my favorite part. looking forward to future updates if there are any planned. great submission!

Submitted(+1)

I am surprised it is running in my browser :D great job on performance optimizations!

Also, awesome style :)

How do you solve the bridge? :D :D :D I was trying to shoot arrows at the switch, not sure if I am missing something ;P

Developer(+1)

It feels nice to be seen... I put SO MUCH work into optimization

Developer(+1)

Did you ever manage to get past the bridge? My hint is to remember the voting criteria. In particular that both the projectile and animal have to be crucial to gameplay. And pay close attention to the subtitles around that part of the game.

Let me know if you play again and you're get stuck again and I'll give you another hint!

Stone Seeker 2 crow is my new best friend.
