Thank youuu so much!
Yeah I wasn't concerned so much with the items fitting thematically with cooking, because they aren't. What I DID try to do tho was make sure the abilities of each item felt somewhat reminiscent of the games they came from. I figured since a lot of games try to skirt around that by making a deckbuilder and having all the disconnected items be cards, it was a needless middleman, and the idea of them as "utensils" could be just a fun abstract part of it
Sorry about the out of frame descriptions. I tried a bunch to resolve that but couldnt find a universal clean way to do it in time.
A wonderful game OOZING with style!
I loved all the puzzles and they all connected quite nicely.
Unfortunately a series of either lack of understanding or bugs kept me from continuing much further. While its mainly my own fault, it seems I wasnt able to shoot enemies when they were right next to me. But more importantly, once I died, I wasnt able to start over. Clicking to continue just froze the screen. So I had to restart from the beginning, since load game wouldnt work either. After 3 tries I had to stop, tho I wish I could've played through the whole thing in one sitting.
Needless to say this game is sauced UP, and deserves its top 5 spot
Playing this a second time around I noticed this time that there were actual people and decoys, I dont know if this was there in the first demo that I played but I enjoy it much more knowing that now. It's still a bit hard for me to tell if there are any differences in endings aside from the newspaper stories that happen between shifts. But regardless I think the game is fun and the little storylines are neat.
Still think the dog didnt deserve that tho.. T_T
GAH! What a wonderful little adventure! Its so cute and funny and made me scratch my head many times but in a fun way.
If I had to give any critique, it might only be that some of the required interactions were just so goofy I dont know how I would have ever gotten it if not for just spamming different items on different rooms constantly haha
But I had a great time, and I'm ready to go to the disco!
Great set of improvements for this final version!
I mentioned before but I really like the style and prologue worldbuilding youve added to the game, just giving it a little extra pizazz.
I think the only remaining disconnect point in this rendition of the game is the role essence plays now. Previously, when decks were a bit more abundant, essence had more of a role to play, but this time, it seems that managing your small deck has much more control than remaining essence. This sort of creates a new stall point in the gameplay. Still I was able to outsmart the opponents and win, and I had fun, so this isnt that big a concern point for me.
This was a really cool proof of concept! Theres a variety of things working together to pull off the style of game youve got going here and I think it all works pretty well!
I enjoyed the voice acting and trying to think of what kind of story would unfold was interesting! The way to work around the constraint of mouse only also works really well. Would love to see this concept expanded somehow.
Agh! What a lovely game!! To be honest its hard to give any negative feedback on this, it is just clean and cute and enjoyable. To be honest, I think the only thought I have is that its potentially more complex than it needs to be haha!
But that's not a complaint, I love how much room there is to strategize for a little scrapbooking game. Great work.
I like the improvements and changes from the playtest! I think making the second level pixelated was a fun touch.
Tho I think that by having the pixelated camera with detailed creatures that are similar color to the background, it made aiming at them trickier. On my third try, i died to the last enemy of the level despite shooting it in (what i assumed was) the head 4 times.
But thats just me being salty lol. Still a fun game!
Love the concept for this game haha! I lovee that all the different games are included here too. Tho poor xanderwood's been skeletonized
Unfortunately because of my red-green colorblindness, the color choice for the tiles made it almost impossible for me to follow the game progression. The stats also weren't super clear to me, but after a few tries I was more or less able to start moving the board in my favor. Never won once tho haha.
I also really liked the animation for the skull and the effects when the cards were being shown. Nice polish touches
This is such a unique game but so clearly evokes your style of game!
It was tricky at first understanding the rules, but once I figured out what was going on, using deduction skills to determine the ghost was really cool and the atmosphere lent to that! I'm a big fan of "spooky" games that can rely on atmosphere to deliver emotion to the player.
I'm on the fence on whether I like the shortform gameplay style or wish it could be played sequentially, but not in a way that detract's from the game's score.
9.9/10 no notes
Another banger in the Dig Deep saga!
Was super looking forward to playing this! I love that you expanded the upgrade system to include the terrain generation as well, genius! The time-based collecting and rift to escape system was also a really clever way to put some risk reward into the gameplay loop that really helped!
I think my only real gripe with the game is that i wish you could right click on walls/ore and still pick your next move destination. So often i got frustrated trying to move somewhere only to get stopped because my mouse was only slightly touching the wall and not the floor. I also faced an issue early on where digging deeper twice caused my game to just freeze at a black screen. Luckily, you added a save system this time so that was no problem!
Love this game and the Dig Deep series <3
Your sense for building intuitive and brain itch-scratching levels is unparalleled!
The way you came up with unique levels and abilities for each item was also superb! Especially the plant and the scarecrow!
Also not relevant to the score, but all the guys and their super happy faces made my day ^_^
Yeah the point about the spin dash is fair... I opted to require moving in a direction, because without it, I just found myself always careening further than I wanted to, but clearly a mechanic that needed more time in the oven.
Sorry about the perspective issue. I switched the camera style for a more interesting visual style, but it came with lots of consequences haha
What can I say? STUNNING as always!
The game is omega fun and all the characters feel good and crunchy to play as. Its kinda fun how your games are usually quite fastpaced, and this one starts slow but gets faster as you progress haha
As much as I love the game tho, I do think its way too punishing. Its hard for me to experience all the characters when you have things like characters' HP persisting between levels and completely resetting your team after a wipe. Obviously I understand logically why it would happen, but to enjoy the game, personally I would enjoy a bit more mercy on the player haha.
But needless to say the game's amazing, visually stunning as always.
I've said before, but the style is OOZING from this game.
Compared to the demo, the balancing on the player abilities and upgrades has really improved! And the switching between characters works better than I expected. Easily the game characters ive gotten the most attached to in this round's selection of games. Loved just getting to level my little guys up!
Very charming visually!
Im surprised not to really see many sidescrolling interpretations, but it works! I also really like the boss, very crispy.
This may be a personal skill issue, but with the way the combat works here, it feels like Brutus is kind of worthless. I think something this game could really use is some extra movement options, like a dash, to make up for the fact that enemies oneshot you on contact no matter what. Itd be a different story if the characters had health. And like Dev Pirates said, a checkpoint system would be wonderful!
Very cute and fun game! I love all the chunky little sprites. I also like how you went for a time based concept similar to Chrono Crisis! The only real feedback I have is that I think the paradox effect is WAY too strong and disorienting. Granted, its a cool effect, but even as someone who isnt very sensitive to this kind of thing, it was hard to bear, and I dont think adds too much to the experience unfortunately. Still, had a great time regardless
I really like how this feels like almost a sequel to Gain Ground!
Certain elements of the controls were a challenge to me, but I love the variety of the gameplay and the level of effort that went into the game!
To be honest I think a bit of a confinement on the control scheme might have helped. Not the biggest deal though
GAHHHHHHHH
ANOTHER PERFECT GAME
How do you keep with these stunning games? Love the puzzle spin on this, and the puzzles are very specific, so takes a lot of learning the levels. The character designs are also perfect.
Had to play thru to the end to get the lovely party.
If I had one suggestion, itd be to add an option to see the level before selecting the character. Itd be nice to be able to plot out the level while thinking about which character to pick
DANG this game is really tough!
But Im sooo happy to see more games like mine that are taking their original game and continuing the story with the Gain Ground-like!
I like the abilities of the new characters, and I like that the MC of the previous one is just one of the abilities you can get! Didnt really face any technical issues other than the enemies feeling a little too strong for their own good lol
I loev how you turned the Gain Ground concept into a dungeon crawler style game! Taking the strongest elements of your previous submission worked well in your favor! I really enjoyed exploring all the areas and even feeling like i had to puzzle a room out.
The final stats screen after completing a level was also fantastic!
This game has STYLE!!
All the visual audio elements are cohesive and tell a solid story. The UI is also nice.
Only part I'm unsure about is the rescuing. It seemed like I could only rescue 1-2 friends in a room, and not any others for some reason. Was this intentional or a bug? Otherwise had tons of fun!
