Love the opening animation and especially the animation when you get the Cat Gun 3000 - so cool!

I am on an Apple laptop and unfortunately, control and arrows are bound to some window commands, so I couldn't change the yarn type.  But I was still able to play the game and shoot the default yarn, which was really fun (great sound effects).

I did run into two small bugs, I couldn't move after the cut scene and another time, I found myself moving to the right, even when I wasn't touching any keys.  Neither of these kept me from enjoying your game.  I hope you get to keep working on it and, if you do, maybe offer some other key choices for the actions.

Thanks for playing MessMess! I am so unaware of Mac so I obviously failed in my button choices! Should use simple key buttons in the future (or learn how to allow key binding), thanks for the recommendations!

Really sorry about the bugs as well! Hadn't  heard about the constant movement issue before, thanks for bringing it up! Glad you enjoyed the animations!

I could not move anymore after the cutscene where I gave clothing to the (old) man. After restarting the game that did not happen anymore, so maybe some control buffering issue going on.

Not sure if changing the cat gun did anything actually. I'm on mac so when I press the ctrl button and click the arrow keys it switches between different windows. I could only shoot the 8-cat so I did not manage to get past the level with the blue yarn.

I chilled on the bench for a bit, cute little addition to the game. Nice intro, very good voice acting.

hey Joszs! Thanks for playing and leaving such an insightful comment! I am so unaware of Mac so I obviously failed in my button choices! Should use simple key buttons in the future (or learn how to allow key binding).

Really sorry about the bug as well, I have received many reports about this now, glad to hear it disappeared the 2nd time! (And also that you chilled on the bench hehe)

Really neat idea and the art was top notch! Good job!

thanks for dropping by and the support Simoncb! 👏

No idea what I did or why I did it, but I reached the credits :D

I think it's an interesting concept having to configure your catgun to shoot the right number. However, it doesn't really translate well into the gameplay section because you only have to configure it once and then you just keep blasting since all the balls of yarn are the same.

Other than that, very charming game, good job! :D

Developer

very good point Frib! You are correct, currently it is exactly as you described hehe wanted to see how people would react to this system, but most importantly I had not enough time to fully materialise my idea.

Thank you so much for the comment, I hope to expand on this soon!

Always love your games. I think you got all the points of the round, got an engaging story, projectiles, and some kitty bullets. Great art as always. Great game.

Superstrange - I stuck on second stage, character stop moving :(

On other sides - art and animation supercute, gameplay familiar but nice. Good game, I hope this bug won't bother other players)

thanks for mentioning smartmagpie! It seems a couple of people also encountered this bug, I will have to look more into that.

Thanks for the insightful comments!

I say this to every one of your games but the art is gorgeous. The mechanics to be honest made... no sense to me? I won though. I don't know what I was supposed to do with the shapes and numbers but I shot the yarn and made the guy happy. Side note but the art for the yarn looks so fun and soft. The cats serving as projectiles was an interesting but cute choice, and the story was incredibly simple but did serve to bring a purpose to playing the game. Overall, cute game and nicely done!

Developer

hey halfsmore! Thanks for playing and for such an indepth comment!

Hehe well played! The symbols were there to make numbers with and shoot the yarn balls (happy to hear they've felt nice!). You charge each cat based on the symbol you choose. Some cats, untangle some balls of yarn is the concept.

I love the projectile mechanics a lot, very interesting way to implement different kind of ammos. I would like to see this developed  further, like more puzzles (or even a math game!) (I like math games you see). Also, the story is really sweet and your artstyle is cuteee ~~

hey Minjutin! Thanks for dropping by and thanks for the support!

Exactly my aim, to make a prime factorisation game. Couldn't pull it of fully this round, maybe the next!

The one word  I think describes this game best is "CUTEEE!" Well done! Brought a smile to my face after so many sad story games.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Hehe thank you p4songer! I hadn't noticed but you are right! Many games did manage to pull off some amazing sad stories!

WOAH! The art, the animation, everything here is so polished! The game came out swinging and made a REALLY strong first impression with the graphics.

I didn't really understand the mini-games? But I beat them anyway, and I had a ton of fun.

The animations for giving the giant yarn to the kitty was super cute too.

Developer(+1)

thanks for the kind words PieroTechnical!

I suppose the games were to shoot the balls of yarn, by using different symbol combinations which changed the cats power (I made the first white ball match the default bullets as you enter the room, and the second blue room needed some adjustments to the bullets)

PS: For ease of access and sake of the story I also made the game to progress after a set time regardless if you had used the symbol adjustments or not.

Great game with a fun story! The art style in this game is amazing. Using a cat as a projectile is very creative. I feel the number system for different colors of yarn balls isn't very intuitive. I think you could just have different colored cats or guns to let players switch between.

Still a very fun game, great job!

Developer

thanks for dropping by Ting!

Indeed, coloured cats would have been easier and more intuitive. My aim was to first expand on last rounds system and also have a more math centered design with multiples, I just couldn't implement it more fully unfortunately.

Thanks again for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

loved getting that old man his blue yarn hahaha, art was a stand out here for sure! good stuff

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you reached that part!

I like that you answered the judging questions on your description page. I managed to complete the game and keep the guy warm without getting hit once :) Using the cats as projectiles on the yarn balls was good fun and I like how they get smaller. It reminds me of a game called pang.  Changing the numbers for each colour is a great idea and if you were to expand on the game I think having multiple colours at once could make for a good challenge

Developer(+1)

thank you! I stole  that idea from mocha4coding :D

Glad to hear! Hopefully yes, exactly as you described is the aim! Thank for dropping by!

Such a nice looking game, I really love these visuals!
I love the little animation when you pick up the gun :D reminded me of enter the gungeon.
Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing Benim! Thanks for  the kind words!

Been trying to actually git gud in Enter the Gungeon, havent managed to get past floor 5...

Hahah ye I've been there :P
But after a while you just get the hang of it and everything makes sense, I guess.
One of my favorite games, but a lot of griding :)
