Let me start by saying this game REEKS of GB feel, like holy crap! It's crazy good! The audio, the graphics... Everything is perfectly placed to make it feel like a real GB game! 5 stars!

The concept itself is also very interesting and creative! The horizontal breakout mixed with a bit of Mario Bros. is just a delightful fusion! And the idea itself doesn't just sound good, it's also executed so well!

This is one of my favorite games in this jam, for sure! Congratulations! :)

Interesting concept and nice execution !

Best entry I have played so far. I agree that this game would feel right at home back in the GB era. I love the testimony you put on the page “Would pay 39.99 back in 1989” :P

The “Antonball” sound is amusing. The idea of combining Mario Bros and Breakout feels fresh yet familiar. I played it with a friend and we both love it. Congratulations!

If I were to suggest some improvement, I would like to add a replay option after the game and score. I also find it strange that the ball can pass through the blocks but “Anton” can’t. I could play pass the first level, that is a minus too :P

This one is so Game Boy I can smell it's package box, haha! Congrats on achieving that! It would have been better if the platforms were passible through, but as it is now, it's a challenge on his own.

Developer

Hah, thank you! Yeah, I struggled with those a bit as it was necessary to be able to hit the blocks in order to defeat the moles in Stage 6. It was a very tough decision, though!

Thank you for playing and the kind words!

This is awesome. It's the best one I played so far lol I love it

Developer

Thanks so much, Foletto! Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Awesome, Antonball really feels like a gameboy game. Very well done, also a very good idea to combine these two games! (after game over screen you could add an option to go back to menu screen)

Developer

That's a great idea! Definitely something to include in a later revision. Thank you for playing!

This would feel right at home in a physical gameboy cartridge. I can just imagine me on the way home from grocery shopping in the back of my parent's car playing this on my Gameboy! Love the music/SFX and the art is lovely! I like the risk vs. reward in which you can try stay close to the wall and bounce the ball quickly to swiftly end the level (yet risk the ball flying past you and having to chase it to the left) or stay near the left and safely bounce it back. The potential for future powerups and game changing elements in this are high! Great job!!

Developer

Thank you so much, Case! It really means a lot. Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

This game feels so authentic! It feels like I missed a great game in my childhood :P Really cool idea. It makes a lot of fun.

Developer

Thanks, PixelPOW! Authenticity is something we strive for so I'm chuffed to hear that you feel that way.

Sure thing! :)

Please make sure you also play and rate my game ;)

This is the coziest game, the visual and sound design is on point! I especially love the "ANTONBALL" and "YEAH" sounds.

Developer

Thank you! I reckon "YEAH" isn't exactly the highlight of my voice acting career, but then again there's something to be said about succinctness.

You really nailed the Gameboy aesthetic in my book. Felt like a Mario spin off, visually, like a sort of Dr. Mario. Coach Mario! Welcome to kickball class haha

Developer

Thank you kindly!

Very cool game, but I do have some criticism. Definitely include the control scheme description in-game in the future. I see now that it's visible on the description page, but if someone looks up your game as I did, throuth the submission list of the GBJam, that info is not visible. I really like the classic NES game vibe and the Antonball speech sample is very amusing too :) kudos for a nice entry :D

Developer

Thank you! We'll definitely include the controls in a future revision - glad you enjoyed the game!

Wow that's a swift response. I most certainly do enjoy it :) Props for the music. I myself am very challenged in that regard. If you have any tips for a beginner I'm all ears :D
