I love the look of the game and the sound effects. Excellent work!

I loved the art style and the boss fights! I felt sometimes that I was overwhelmed with enemies but I made it through :3 Everything was smooth and I liked the upgrades I got, the drones and the stronger gun! Great job!

Gorgeous! I loved the art style, the gameplay is very fluid and the levels very well constructed. To be honest I didn't explored that much of it to find bugs and/or possibly hidden easter eggs, but it seems that you have a very good technical execution. The AI is good, the characters (both PC and NPC) have a good concept and animations...I really liked the details in the scenario, like alien plants and grass moving with the wind or when we passed through them. The music is also nice, the only real critique I have is about the sound effects of the gun, for me it was too loud.. the sound itself was very nice, but after sometime being so loud, specially when we shoot a lot, bothered me a little, but it's such a small issue for a well done game... congratulations! I truly believe you'll probably come out as the best game in this jam, for what I've seen so far :) looking forward to see more from you.

Thanks a bunch for the feedback! I need to figure out a good balance/level for sounds.  My previous games have gotten similar critiques, but it has improved a little.  My first 2 games had terrible pew pew sounds haha.

Nice game. I really like the art style. Great job

Developer

Thanks! Art is my best skill~ tackling coding is the challenge hehe

This was really great! I love the atmosphere of the game. You've got some good platforming going on, and it really feels more like a small game than just a jam game! Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words, and thanks a bunch for hosting this jam!! I made a plan quickly, so i was able to focus and work fast :) thanks for the cool tutorials, i purchased your space shooter udemy course and made one for my 2nd jam :)

Great Job, Nice artwork and effects

Developer

Thanks for checking it out!

The art and atmosphere kinda reminds me of hollow knight, the spacy atmosphere and low gravity makes if fit the theme.  The slight sound of the wind  also adds to the atmosphere of the game and the gameplay though is imo  very tough I managed to reach the second boss and died there. Imo you should lower the difficulty a bit.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I will study how to do difficulty settings.  I want my games to have easy and hard modes ㅋㅋ

Submitted

This is my second jam and I've learnt one thing  people here have  lotta games to play if your game is too difficult they are most likely to quit before completing (that's what I think) so the difficulty should be  a bit moderate

Submitted(+1)

Cool little game here. I really like the atmosphere and also the grey colors used for the environment. Makes it dark and mysterious. The enemies were a bit too easy for me. The hardest boss was actually the second one! Nice work! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!  I hope to learn more varieties of enemies to add.

Submitted(+1)

That was really cool game! Atmosphere is so alien :D Particle effects when enemies die very cool and the idea with a companion! Amazing! One thing wanted some checkpoint before boss fight :DD Man this game felt done

Developer(+1)

Thanks a bunch for the feedback!  Checkpoints is on my list of things to learn thanks!!  I think with checkpoints I could make levels much longer~

Developer (1 edit)

If you don't have time to DL, check out this no-voice over HD play-through, another cool guy uploaded a video!  (so awesome when this happens)

The art for this game is BOMB AS HECK I love the lil character guy and his gun is very snappy & responsive, it's fun how you can shoot it in a full arc instead of just to the left or right. The background is completely beautiful and creates a great atmosphere :D It's challenging and I personally appreciate that a lot in a game, don't want to just roll through something too easily after all; I had to learn to be predictive with the speed of gunfire vs the enemies. Pushing the blocks around for a jumping off point was a cool mechanic.

some bugs I think I found: I got killed by the first big jellyfish boss guy and when I hit "try again" and went through the level again, the boss did not spawn after the little jellyfishes came down to attack me; after a few restarts I deduced that the reason was that I, being the wily player I am, kept skipping the first sluggy guy after my first playthrough afterI realized you could hop onto the block above it, and it *seems* that failing to defeat all previous monsters in the level prevents the boss from spawning - but also, once you are in the boss area you aren't allowed to go back and shoot any enemies you missed, so you have to start all over. Also, I wish I could give more thorough feedback about this, but I wasn't able to pinpoint exactly when it was happening D:, but double jump seemed to not trigger for me sometimes, very random when it wouldn't but I wonder if it could have something to do with the way I constantly press A or D while I am also trying to double jump. I dunno! At first I thought I might be trying to trigger it too fast, but I noticed some fails even when I gave it time to cool down.

anyway GREAT JOB on the game, you made a really cool thing here !

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the great comment and feedback!  Art is my strong point, and I'm new to coding and sound design  You are right about the first jellyfish guy, you gotta kill him in order to continue.  (He is marked as an 'enemy' in the wave spawner, so he has to be killed for the boss to spawn doh~~ lol)  I will fix this after the jam~  I will check the double jump thanks for letting me know!  I think maybe my ground detection is too small, so if you jump to close to the edge it doesn't work right hehe.  Thanks again for playing and the feedback!

I'll just relax until my oxygen goes out :(

Developer(+1)

Hehe Spoilers~  I thought the kinda sad color pallet needed a sad ending (also I was rushed to end it haha)  Thanks for checking it out!

Neat game!

...

I loved how the pieces of the environment reacted to you. You usually don't see that much polish in jam games. I also really liked the atmosphere, the background and the SFX. That being said, I think the most annoying part in your entry was the jump sound and the shoot sound. For some reason these kept changing volume or pitch. It's the small things that get me.

Developer

Thanks!  I really like to make reacting environments~  Sound is one of my weak points for sure haha.  This jam i wanted to try a random sound script, because in my last jam some people suggested because it can be tedious hearing the exact same sound over and over in shooting games.  It's a difficult balance i guess~

Wow this game is amazing! I'm really digging the art style and aesthetic. The moving and jumping mechanic feels absolutely great. 5/5 star !

Just one thing, can you make more levels cause I can't get enough of this game 😂.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words!  I hope to update it with more content later :D

Developer

This guy did a really cool play through of my game!  if you don't have time to DL and play, please check out his video of my game and rate (He beat the game!)

Alright! I just played this game and would like to provide some feedback!!!

Overall the atmosphere is great. I really like the art and the overall concept. I got stuck in the same spot as CDelisa so I could not play much - (I'd love to play more!) but I have a few notes:

1. I LOVE DOUBLE JUMPING. The jump weight feels pretty good. However one thing you might consider is allowing a double jump to occur after a player has walked off an edge. Many times I would run off of a ledge before jumping off to gain momentum and then jump in the air but currently when this is done the jump amount is only 1. That makes some of the smaller platforms trickier to platform with. I'm assuming you may have a check to see if the player is on the ground and if so then jump, plus an integer count of 1 that counts how many in-air jumps you have. (or something along those lines) One idea would be to have a jump count that is reset when the player is grounded. Then walking off of a ledge a player could still have access to 2 jumps. (just an idea I thought of I'm sure there would be some adjusting to work with this game)

2. The sound effects are so eerie and awesome. Fantastic.

3. Seriously the sounds. I just remembered the gun fire sound and its neat.

4. The parallax is super cool. Sometimes it felt like it was moving too fast in regards to the foreground, but still it made the game feel huge. I think adding a vertical parallax in addition to the horizontal one would really be icing on the cake.

5. One thought is adding health bars to the enemies. I liked having to kite around but knowing how close I am to killing an enemy would help me make some riskier plays.

Seriously great job on this game. I just wanted to do a write up because I think it has a lot of potential! This was a big scope for a jam and I think you executed it very well. If you ever want to reach out and chat gamedev or anything let me know! Cheers!

Developer

Wow thanks for the great feedback~ I will add it to my notes!  I think I know what cause the wavespawner to not spawn the boss now.  The noagressive land jellyfish are tagged as 'enemy'.  If they aren't killed the boss won't spawn at the end lol. Will update the game after the jam for sure~

Submitted

Ah yes that makes sense. I probably skipped a land jelly or two. Good catch!

Submitted(+1)

It's a very cool game! The art is great. The mechanics work well. The parallax is a nice touch. But I appear to be stuck on the first level. Right after killing the 1st wave of jellyfish. There doesn't seem to be a way to reach the platform to the right, even with double jumping. And I don't think there's a pause button so restarting will be a little tedious.

Developer

Oh I see!  probably a bug with the wave spawner~  Supposed to go jellyfish and then a boss.  After the boss a push-able block should fall and let you jump up to the next level~  Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

I know this game is good before downloading it. Good job. I love the design.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out!  It was fun making because I liked the alien world design idea~

Submitted(+1)

It's very good! The level design is wall made, the player is working perfectly and the graphics are very cool. Maybe there is some problems with bosses, it's very hard to avoid their attacks, for some of them. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a bunch for playing my game and the feedback!  I will adjust the bosses after some more play testing,  I think I should definitely make the first 2 easier so player can get further along without getting annoyed lol.   Thanks again!
