An intriguing story, seemingly has a deeper meaning than the average game jam game. Made me have flashbacks of watching Oblivion: doing a task without knowing why, then the story slowly unfolds. Well written. This felt less of a game and more of an interactive movie.  It was a nice touch having two endings, Well done for getting it all done in time.

Tysm! I really appreciate the kind words!

This was intriguing, very good choice of music.

I was hoping I could see the other ending, because I won all the dream sequences but not sure how bad it would be then.

Interesting take on simple mechanics. I like the ability to take repetitive tasks and add them to a story that feels much deeper than the game is showing. Really cool!

Feels closely related to a real life story of similar plot haha

Went back to see the ending, it seemed to be better? Not sure, but loosing in the dreams gives you a better ending then? Or is it all not real?

Developer(+1)

My intent was that the ant was toiling away living in a delusion that their queen was still alive and the work they were doing had meaning. The dream section was supposed to be a sort of mental battle where they are trying not to succumb to their dreams. If you lose, then the ant fully succumbs to their delusion that the queen is still alive but if you beat the dreams then the ant realises the truth and has to move forward.

However, I spent so much time on just getting a working build that I couldn't play test or edit the script so it kind of came out a bit sloppy and unclear.

Thank you for playing though! I really appreciate it!

Pretty cool concept. A lot of thought into a game jam game, that is nice. Thanks for 2 endings, fun to see what people come up with and how far it can go.

I really enjoyed this. The mood and story are really well put together. The plot twist at the end was great, I would have loved to see some more dialog added on at the end to learn more about the end of the empire. Great job on the pixel art as well.

Developer

Tysm! yeah, my original idea was much more ambitious, but this was all I could achieve in the time frame. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I think you achieved a lot!

Developer

Thank you!

Really cool story and atmosphere! I couldn't figure out how to get the second ending (assuming there is one based on the description) but I thought it was a clever twist. Great work!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing! There is a good ending and a bad ending. To get the good ending you need to win most of the dream sequences. To get the bad ending you need to lose most of them. I'll add that into the description so it is more clear

This was strangely charming. I have been playing a bunch of arcade games for this jam, so I was kind of expecting another mechanically challenging game, and didn't really know what I was going for. I like the repetitiveness of the quick chores to kind of get you in that place, and the tension of waiting for what was inevitably going to be coming at the bottom screen during the night sequences was quite stressful. Great job.

Great sprite work, simple yet effective and the story is a banger! actually made me feel quie on edge, and when the music cut off on the last day i was a bit spooked! Good game!

The story was very intriguing! It would be nice if the dream had some extra stuff going on as I kept hoping something would happen then. Otherwise, great job I love the tiny world and the ending :)

Developer

Tysm! yeah.. due to time constraints I couldn't add more but you are right!

I never expected the story to pique my interest so much! Well done on the writing!

I did find the dream music a little mind flooding in a good way, it was fun!

The daily tasks could've been a little more added to them, but I understand the time restrictions.

I had a good time with this game, good job!

Developer(+1)

Tysm! yeah, definitely should have done more with the daily tasks

Submitted(+1)

I went back in the house too soon before I'd done one of the tasks and then it wouldn't let me back out again so I was stuck! Not sure if I was just doing something wrong or was a bug... cool concept though.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! hmmm... thats weird, once you enter the house you should just be able to exit at any tim

Might need a mini game or something for the daily tasks to break up the repetition a bit. The endings were a little confusing to me. Is it supposed to be you either fall into the delusions or break free?

Developer

You're right about the daily tasks. Yes, that is what the endings are supposed to be, should have made that clearer my bad

Submitted(+1)

Very pretty game, a little repetitive and the twist felt a little out of nowhere. But I loved the atmosphere of the whole game!

Developer(+1)

Tysm! yeah I kind of wanted to make the repetitiveness a thematic point, but I obviously sacrificed the gameplay for that.

You are right about the ending, in my mind the energy that was being gathered had super powerful side effects, causing the destruction of the Thexrian empire but, it ended up prolonging the life of the ant gathering it, where the ant toils on the planet for eternity in a delusion. I should have seeded this into the story though, thats my bad

Submitted(+1)

I like that a lot, that's a very cool idea and message!

Submitted(+1)

It is cool!

The idea was one of mine first ideas too, but your vision is crasy!

The soundeffects and the repetition was not too strong but the music is also godlike for this game.

Good job!

Rate my game, if you have time for that. Thx.

Developer

Tysm! yeah... I kind of overscoped lol

What a cool concept! I had alot of fun with your game. I looked forward to seeing what the runner levels would look like between each day. The story also kept me hooked. I was really surprised by that ending! Like the commenter below, I also had issues trying to deposit solar but having the rocket message display instead. From the tops of the snowy Garall mountains to the shallow Oldtide waters and across the Thexrian empire, I wish you luck on your ratings!

Developer

Tysm! Yeah I probably should have playtested it some more lol

Good job. I love how you made the "waking world" more monotonous and the "dream world" have more variety. It adds to the mood. I spent some nights waiting to see if there was something that was going to start chasing me. My suggestion is put the solar building (one near the rocket) a bit further out. My first day, I had collider/trigger issues and it only showed "Fly" for me without the "Deposit Solar Energy" showing up. it also helps separate out the locations a touch more so they don't feel like the one place. Awesome work. I enjoyed this thoroughly.

Developer(+1)

Tysm! Yeah, i'll definitely improve the collisions

I really liked this one.  Nice pixelArt, well chosen music and feels like playing multiple games at once.

Liked the game. The story bits are interesting and a nice character dialog system implemented and also very clean graphics. Nice, keep up the good work :).

[Query: which software did you use to create the game graphics?.]

Developer(+1)

Tysm! I used aseprite to create all the assets

Nice :)

No way, that plot twist at the very end! I liked the atmosphere, I liked the worldbuilding as well. The collision in some of the dream sequences with the trees were a bit janky but nothing too severe.

Overall, I liked this one quite a bit!

Developer

Tysm! Yeah, I should have edited the colliders a bit better
